  21. (Bill) CLINTON FOUNDATION — while Hillary Clinton was U.S. Sec. of State

    **********************8

“Why it sure looks like[Clinton] foundation donors got easier access to the State Department

How do we know foundation donors really did get better access to Clinton’s State Department? Well, it’s impossible to prove — no Clinton staffer was stupid enough to write, “Thanks for giving $10 million to Bill! Now we can get coffee!”

But the circumstantial evidence is pretty strong. Here are some of the highlights:

    • Douglas Band, the Clinton Foundation’s top executive, asked the state department if Clinton could meet with “our good friend” Bahraini Crown Prince Sheikh Salman. Salman, who had given the foundation $32 million, met with Clinton. Clinton later approved a $630 million arms sale to Bahrain, according to the International Business Times.
    • A Ukrainian magnate named Victor Pinchuk gave the Clinton Foundation between $10 million and $25 million. While Clinton was secretary of state, her aides set up “about a dozen meetings with State Department officials on behalf of or with Mr. Pinchuk to discuss the continuing political crisis in continuing political crisis in Ukraine,” according to the New York Times.
    • In 2009, Band told Clinton aide Huma Abedin to secure a meeting for a Lebanese billionaire who had also given millions to the foundation. That donor, Ronald Chagoury, controlled a development in Lagos where the State Department was considering constructing a consulate, according to CNN. (The consulate wasn’t built.)
    • S. Daniel Abraham, a billionaire who gave up to $10 million to the Clinton Foundation, was also granted access to meet with Clinton, according to the released emails. (Abraham is also the head of the Center for Middle East Peace.)
    • A top Clinton Foundation executive left about 150 voicemails for state department aide Cheryl Mills over the course of two years, according to call logs obtained by Fox News.
    • While secretary of state, Clinton met with at least 85 donors who had given the foundation as much as $156 million, according to the Associated Press. And that’s just the ones we know about. (As the AP has pointed out, the State Department is stonewalling the release of Clinton’s schedule — meaning we probably only know a fraction of the actual meetings she held with donors.)”

Trump has backed down on his stupid tariffs and trade wars just about everywhere.

In any case none of the tariffs have actually been reflected on prices because either they have not been implemented or there are goods in the supply pipeline.

General inflation numbers include a lot of products that are not subject to tariffs.

But let’s ignore all those facts and pretend Trump is a genius and protectionism and isolationism is fabulous because inflation is not rising.

Trump has been clear for the last 50 years on what he believes and what he wants to do, which is isolate America and declare war on international commerce.

The problem with Strom’s article is that he doesn’t differentiate between TDS and legitimate opposition to Trump’s trade policies from those that believe in free trade and not protectionism.

TDS victims will oppose Trump on ANYTHING he does. Amoral Scumbag claimed to be a conservative, but he would never even credit Trump with appointing conservative to judicial positions. As Trump famously said, he could find the cure for cancer and achieve world peace and the TDS sufferers would criticize it.

Trump is a populist and an opportunist, not a conservative. None of what he does is by conviction or principle. I will take what I can get, because a lot of what he does I think is positive for America.

I think his attacks on the concept of free trade and free markets are terribly damaging in the long run, because it stimulates protectionist views everywhere. I don’t see any outcome where this philosophy is not negative.

But my perceptions of politicians can change. I certainly changed my views on Mitt Romney and Chris Christie and Nikki Haley and, yes, of Donald Trump. I was certain Trump was not fit for office in 2016. He proved me wrong.

Trump still has 3+ years to go. Maybe he will prove me wrong again. If so, I will be happy to be wrong.

“Before our eyes a new generation of leaders is transcending the ancient conflicts of tired divisions of the past and forging a future where the Middle East is defined by commerce not chaos…where it exports technology not terrorism…and where people of different nations religions and creeds are building cities together…not bombing each other out of existence we don’t want that. And it’s crucial for the wider world to note this great transformation has not come from Western interventionists…flying people in beautiful planes giving you lectures on how to live and how to govern your own affairs. No. The gleaming marvels of Riyadh and Abu Dhabi were not created by the so called nation builders neocons or liberal nonprofits like those who spent trillions and trillions of dollars failing to develop…cabal Baghdad so many other cities instead, the birth of a modern Middle East has been brought by the people of the region themselves. The people that are right here the people that have lived here all their lives, developing your own sovereign countries,s pursuing your own unique visions, and charting your own destinies in your own way. It’s really incredible what you’ve done. In the end, the so-called nation builders…wrecked far more nations than they built, and the interventionists were intervening in complex societies…that they did not even understand themselves..they told you how to do it but they had no idea how to do it themselves…Peace, prosperity, and progress ultimately came not from a radical rejection of your heritage but rather from embracing your national traditions and embracing that same heritage that you love…so dearly…”

And for China, the trade deal would be linked to include China ceasing to manufacture fentanyl and shipping it to Mexican drug cartels.

And for Uke/Russia war…as a step toward ending the bloodshed, why ins’t Trump insisting that Russia–to show it is serious about ending the war there– immediately send the 15,000 NorK troops combatants in Ukraine back to N. Korea–or else the U.S. will impose this or that sanctions on Russia?

In March 2025, the monthly CPI inflation rate was .22%, however the April rate was .31%. It actually went up a bit. However, the CPI reported this week showed the annual inflation rate going DOWN to 2.3%. Why is this? Because annual cpi inflation (like PPI) compares April 2025 to April 2024. So, even though the monthly inflation rate ticked up, since April 2024 was .39%, higher than the April 2025 print of .31%, we show a reduction to cpi. The Fed and everyone else should also be concerned about the monthly trend, which shows inflation ticking up slightly.

Following this logic, the Fed also knows that for  next few months the annual CPI will have a tough time showing a decrease and may very well show increases EVEN if the monthly rates trend down. This is because in May, June and July of 2024, the monthly CPI rates were incredibly low, coming in at .17%, .03%, and .12%. So, for example, even if out May 2025 monthly cpi drops back down to wat it was in March 2025 (.22%), we will still show an annual CPI increase . This will have an impact on consumer sentiment and the financial press, which could drive inflationary forward spending as a result.  For annual  CPI to go down in May through July of this year, we would need to see outstanding low monthly prints. That is the test and that is why everyone is cautiously waiting to see what happens in the next few months.

Additionally, and even more important is the crazy Fed money printing to pay for our deficits. Money supply is the fuel for inflation and it is skyrocketing again. This chart alone should give pause to any rate decreases until the Fed stops up some of this excess money –

What’s even more troubling is that at the same time the Fed is growing our money supply, they are reducing their balance sheet (they’ve cut over 2 billion since 2020), which is like putting on the brakes while stepping on the accelerator while driving. Best to leave rates alone until we see how monthly rates come in and how money supply goes in the next few months.

Trust me on this. No one wants to see rates decrease more than me. It would juice the economy for Trump and send my portfolio into space. But I’d rather it be done when inflation risk is truly minimized. If all goes well, the economy should be booming and rates lowered well before the midterm election season.

Yes, the merits of birthright citizen aren’t being decided today. I listened a little to Sotomayor’s questioning and it was about injunctions.

She was trying to make the argument that if the lower courts couldn’t make nationwide injunctions then SCOTUS couldn’t either. Hard to grasp that argument.

Quite a career for someone who “knows little”.

“Jerome HaydenJayPowell (born February 4, 1953) is an American investment banker and lawyer who has been the 16th chair of the Federal Reserve since 2018.

A native of Washington, D.C., Powell graduated from Princeton University and from the Georgetown University Law Center.[2] After working as an attorney for five years, he switched to investment banking in the mid-1980s and worked for several financial institutions, including as a partner of The Carlyle Group.[2] In 1992, Powell briefly served as under secretary of the Treasury for domestic finance under President George H. W. Bush. Powell left Carlyle Group in 2005 and founded Severn Capital Partners, a private investment firm. He was a visiting scholar at the Bipartisan Policy Center from 2010 to 2012 before returning to public service.[2]

He became a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors after being nominated to the post by President Barack Obama in 2012. He was subsequently elevated to chairman by President Donald Trump (succeeding Janet Yellen) and renominated to the position by President Joe Biden

Sotomayor is a far leftist hack.

But the argument that the 14th Amendment only “intended to cover descendants of slaves” is a weak one.

it is not what the Amendment says. It says if you were born in the US you are a US citizen.

IMO, that is how it needs to be interpreted.

If a woman climbs over the fence and has a baby 5 minutes later, that baby is a US citizen.

And frankly, I don’t understand why we would not want that. Why don’t we want that baby to grow up in America, be educated in America, serve America, and be a productive citizen. Why do we care where or who or how his parents were, we should only care that the baby is a citizen.

It doesn’t mean that we should not have border control or that we need to allow everyone who wants to have a baby here to do so (sorry, Jeb!), it only means that IF someone is born in America, that person is American. Period.
