Bitter ridiculed Tina’s thoughts on several of the TRO’s against Trump.”
Zzzzzz….
When did Tina actually have a “thought” of her own?
Never? Thought so.
The only TRO I think was “right” is that contractors need to be paid for work done, and that blanket orders refusing to pay is not a “contract dispute”. I believe the administration is indeed paying the contractors as they should.
I didn’t agree with any of the other TRO’s, but the appropriate response is not to impeach judges you disagree with, or fail to obey the ruling, you appeal the ruling through the appropriate process. Or you change the law governing the power of district judges as is being discussed in Congress.
he Trump administration said it recently resumed payment for USAID debts after the funding freeze. But it told the court that its processing of payments was being slowed because it had pulled most USAID workers off their jobs, through forced leaves and firing, as part of the agency shutdown.
Ali noted Thursday that USAID had said it routinely made thousands of payments before the agency shutdown, and that it said it had recently called 100 staffers off leave to process payments.”
The 5-to-4 decision vacated a temporary restraining order that required the Department of Education to reinstate the canceled grant funding to California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Wisconsin. The grants were first terminated in early February after the Education Department said the programs ran afoul of the president’s executive orders banning diversity, equity and inclusion programs. (This is one of at least two lawsuits challenging the teacher training grant cancellations.)
Justices behind the majority opinion say the district court lacked the jurisdiction under the Administrative Procedure Act to issue the temporary restraining order. They suggested that the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, which handles contract-related cases, would have been better suited.
The Sc judges should remind the trump, admin thst they need to charge bonds to the parties seeking tros. Specifically, the sc stated that if the gubment paid the money, there is no way to collect the $ back.

I’ve had a chance to review the recent SC decision as well as the dissents by Sotomayor and Jackson. Without digressing into the weeds on the merits of the decision and any weaknesses in either sides arguments, I’m just floored that this case made it this far. I think it’s an interesting commentary on what our Country has become, politically.
For example, the basic argument of this gang banger illegal alien is that he is a “refugee” that is entitled to asylum because he belongs to a criminal gang subject to the ire of another criminal gang. That is an argument for what? So , now, Bugsy Moran wants asylum in Switzerland because Scarface is trying to kill him? I am forced to think of Christopher Guest’s line in Spinal Tap: “There is such a fine line between clever and stupid” But here we are. Welcome to modern day America where an argument like that is the basis for a case that makes its way to the Supreme Court rather than being dismissed outright in connection with the original asylum claim.

Tina, The text you posted doesn’t fully capture the basis for the rejection. Their point is that as far as the EU is concerned, excessive and ridiculous regulatory barriers are equally restrictive for American exports, preventing the sale of many of our goods in EU countries. Cutting tariffs is only at best half the game in establishing free and fair trade.

None intended, Mike. I will say, I’m still trying to figure this board out . Everyone seems so very nice, sincere and well meaning, except for 2 posters that have no problem regularly making personally insults and ad hominem attacks on everyone. What’s even more of a head scratcher to me is that one of them purports to be an attorney. I know numerous outstanding attorneys and all chomp at the bit to exercise their skill at drafting a quick, respectful, well reasoned, and cogent argument to an opposing point of view. It’s in their DNA. They would never resort to name calling and insulting anyone in connection with presenting their positions or defending them. Not with opposing counsel, friends on a message board, or even adversaries. However, that’s not the case here. I find it most intriguing because it’s the farthest thing from the legal temperament I’m used to seeing. I guess that’s just the culture here, but I’m still trying to figure it out. I really do enjoy the likeminded discussion with so many of you. You’re all very nice people.
On Tuesday morning, in response to the CNBC clip, Musk tweeted: “Navarro is truly a moron. What he says here is demonstrably false.” A few minutes later, he added: “Tesla has the most American-made cars. Navarro is dumber than a sack of bricks.”

Thanks Bitter for proving my points so quickly. Yeah, everyone here is in a Putin supporting cult . Great rebuttal and Outstanding legal temperament from someone who claims to be a lawyer. GFY! Very lawyer like, LOL!
What’s also interesting about this place is that the self professed Republican guy who created it and is acknowledged as having saved HHR, seems to not like the vast majority of people who posts here, notwithstanding the fact that they merely post popular opinions shared by a majority of Republicans. Very interesting.

Elbridge Colby is one of the brightest foreign policy minds in the GOP and it’s pathetic watching Mitch McConnell continue to stand with Dems to sabotage President Trump. This is why whoever replaces Mitch for Senate needs to represent a clean break from him – Time for a change!
I’ve never posted anything about supporting Putin or a “victory” he might be pursuing.
I’ve never trashed Reagan. My parents loved him. I have compared some traits and policies he and Trump seem to share.
I like dialogues that are humorous, civil, and informative.
I like most of Trump’s policies. Idolization of anyone is something I don’t do. The only person who I considered to be an “icon” was my Greek father-in-law, who was a kind, considerate gentleman.
Jan, anyone that can read knows you don’t love Putin, don’t hate Reagan, and that you post informative stuff (and, no Bitter, not because I typically agree).
The few others use outright lies and childish (at best) name-calling because they disagree with your perspective. Bitter, imo, would never speak to you in person the way he does here. Jason might, but he’s a sick puppy.
You have opposed military aid to Ukraine since the invasion began. Since you oppose the only thing that kept Putin from annexing Ukraine and also support a peace deal that favors Putin, you support his victory. Own it.
Bitter you simply don’t listen to people. Instead, you just run your own conclusions and assumptions around in your head. It’s a big waste of energy to engage you on anything you twist around and then convert to a falsehood. Note to Jan —-> don’t try anymore with Bitter.
Chi – Then stop addressing any posts to me, asking me any questions, etc. Same goes for any of the Cult. Your group took over and made this a Cult echo chamber. I just keep the site going.
A lot of self-congratulations and some criticism about court rulings on this thread today. I will remind some of the posters that I said on February 12th, in response to Chicon’s concerns about a TRO:
“These appeals will take days, not months or years. Follow the ’emergency docket’ at the Supreme Court.”
This comment was met with widespread skepticism at the time. I think 54 days is more like ‘days’ than ‘months or years’. Just sayin’
Chicon, as a buddy of mine from Cravath once said while critiquing the work of a junior associate, that’s some F. Lee Bailey sh&t right there. All kidding aside, I think I have things all wrong. Bitter’s not an uptight, unhumorous person. On the contrary. That comment proves he’s got the best sense of humor on this board, LOL!
I’m loving life right now. Arsenal just upset Real Madrid, the best team in soccer, with a 3-0 win.

Zzzzz…..another whiner who wants a free lunch.
The “culture” here is that that if you want to post lies, conspiracy theories, fake news, link to garbage sites, etc. go ahead.
But don’t expect not to be called on it.
If you can’t deal with that, find another blog, where Cultists can congratulate each other after every post no matter how idiotic.

Has anyone here ever heard Chicon express any “core value” beyond blind allegiance to anything Trump says or does?
No?
Didn’t thinks so.
Of course, Chicon derides people who do have core values as “pure conservatives”, so you know what he thinks about “core values”.

On Tuesday morning, in response to the CNBC clip, Musk tweeted: “Navarro is truly a moron. What he says here is demonstrably false.” A few minutes later, he added: “Tesla has the most American-made cars. Navarro is dumber than a sack of bricks.”
I love it!
I am sure the Cultists will side with the moron.
Personally, I will side with the guy who actually has produced a lot for America.

I have a cold Guinness and the Arsenal Real Madrid game waiting for me. Go Arsenal! Have a great day, my most bitter of lawyer friends. !

Bitter:

Just sayin’

Two months = days?

Also, the decisions of the past several days are indeed wins, but are procedural in nature. They aren’t over yet. And a few dozen remain.
