There are many “messes”around the world, and we have a strong interest in many of them, including in Europe, the ME and the Far East.

Tulsi Gabbard had a good summary of these interests in her intel presentation today, and to her credit, she did a good job enumerating the threats we face from Russia, and they were considerable. She went into detail the threats we face from Russia, not only their expansionist agenda and new alliances with China and North Korea, but also in space and satellite warfare, nuclear capabilities, and cyber security. Should Goldberg have been added to the chat? No. Did Goldberg gain access to “secret” information? Kind of. He found out we’d strike the Houthis two hours early. What Goldberg & the Atlantic are calling TOP SECRET “war plans” is a massive embellishment—any butterbar fresh out of ROTC could tell you that. These aren’t war plans. These aren’t even school board notes. They’re “Ok, we’re ready to do that thing everyone knew we were going to do? Yep? Neat. Also Europe sucks.” Watergate this is not. I am sure the Israelis would have liked to have 2 hours advance notice of the Hamas attack on Oct 7.

There is a new theory that perhaps the Atlantic reporter was somehow “pre-loaded” into the Signal system that the Biden administration “passed on” to the new administration. That is because it is unlikely Walz would have had this guy’s number on his phone.

It is his personality and ethics I cannot stand. Born a silver spoon, playboy, a$$hole, he was given millions by his dad and has run a mediocre company ever since. He has been married three times, has been abusive towards women, and is an unrepentant bully.

During Covid, he showed his true cowardice – hiding behind Anthony Fauci and letting Democrats shut down the entire economy. Typical Trump were his comments about encourgaing people to wear masks yet claimed he personally would not wear one. The combination of coward and bully makes Trump one of the most unpleasant human beings I have ever encountered.

Still, there are good things starting to happen in the US today, some of which Trump is responsible for. Whether he can deliver on one-tenth of the promises he has made remains to be seen. Most of his actions require Congressional and/or court approval and so far he has not proven to be capable of convincing any one on the Democrat side to support his plans.

At best he could turn out to be a reverse Lyndon Johnson. Johnson was also an unpleasant human being – a person almost no one would choose to spend time with. Still, he was one of the more effective Presidents we had had in my lifetime. Not good – but effective.

At worst, Trump II will turn out like Trump I, with him taking credit for results obtained by others, but with little substantive impact beyond his term in office.

He also promoted many women during his many years in business, based on meritocracy not gender. He paid for cancer treatments of a beauty contestant in one of his pageants. He used to have his daughter bring him newspaper clippings of someone who was down and out, and ended up helping many of them. He paid for one family’s mortgage who helped him in a snow storm, sent a check to another family who had their pastor husband/father imprisoned for years in Turkey. Recently he paid, out of his own pocket, the back pay he felt was owed to the astronauts stranded for almost 10 months in the space station. He is a good father to all 5 children. He doesn’t drink, smoke or do drugs. Personal meetings with people usually create favorable impressions on them. He donates his presidential salary to charities. His dealings with COVID were employed during the initial outbreak when few knew much about the virus. If he had fired Fauci the media would have killed his presidency. As it was the economy and employment were coming back, the inflation rate was 1.4%, gas under $3 when he handed it over to Biden. He had no wars during that first term, with an enviable economy until COVID hit. He has freed many overseas people held captive. But, what an awful guy he is!

I will not argue Donald Trump’s favorable view of women – he has been divorced twice and that ends it for me. I believe that you get married once, and that is forever. Twice-divorced men are beyond the pale for me.

As far as Covid is concerned, many scientists knew the characteristics of Covid as early as February of 2020. I taught an economics class in early April of 2020 in which I criticized Trump and Mike DeWine for being cowards in allowing the economies for which they were responsible to be crushed by the first government mandated shutdowns in our country’s history.

The signers of the Great Barrington Declaration knew that shutdowns were a mistake. Among the signers were John Ioannidis and Jay Bhattacharya. Their careers were almost ruined because they had the courage to speak truth in the face of lies by Fauci and Francis Collins, during a time in which Trump was hiding behind Fauci’s hoop skirts.

The so-called Trump tax cuts were actually shepherded through Congress by Kevin Brady and Chuck Grassley. Trump was an obnoxious impediment to the work of those two heroes throughout the entire history of that epochal bill. He finally signed it – and has been bragging about it ever since.
