I’ve been here on and off since 2004 and the level of respect and positivity has never been high. Take a look at Tina’s posts, or Bitter’s, or Jason’s.
“At the end of these “procedures” the Trump Administration should be in the position it seeks to be in — with only USAID/State Department contracts/grants it approves of, and any disgruntled entities with canceled contracts/grants forced to take their complaints to the Federal Court of Claims.”
-Thought this link had been posted a week or so ago, and nobody (jason, BillW, Bitterlaw) disputed it.
Is this person incorrect?”
Apples and oranges.
No one is here is against suspending contracts or not renewing or cancelling grants as long as work already contracted and COMPLETED is paid.
Those should be paid and any irregularities in awarding them can be investigated on a case by case basis.
A blanket order not to pay for ALL contracts signed and completed is not “cancelling a contract” and not a “contract dispute” it is a violation of contract law. There are rules governing the cancellation of contracts and resolution of disputes but those are applied to the particular contract in question.
I am still not sure why anyone opposes contractors being paid for work already done except that Trump should always be supported even if it is a completely arbitrary decision.
The Dems seem to be flailing around in looking for relevance or significant issues to differentiate themselves from Trump republicans. So far all they seem to do is create performative foolishness – burning and vandalizing Tesla stores, cars, charging units; raiding state houses; invading Trump Tower and pouting at the joint congressional speech given by Trump. There have also been marches, refuse to purchase anything days, and now a movement to flood the DC post office with post cards castigating Trump on March 15th. However, no where in their resistance gestures are efforts to create a platform of ideas directed at resolving our debt crisis, wars, cultural divides etc. consequently, I wonder how their strategy will aid and abet attracting more people to join their party. Or, will it backfire?
Let’s see when the Dems are back in power whether they will agree with them when they decide to ignore Trump appointed judges.
Where have you been? Dems have been ignoring constitutional perimeters and rulings in Biden’s term, regarding forgiving student loans. In fact it’s usually the Dems who breech ethics, protocols, readjust laws to benefit them etc., while republicans sit back and suck their thumb in compliance. Get real for once Jason!
Cory was the Canadian. Corey was from Chicago and Jewish. I still have his e-mail address from when would tell me privately how much I disappointed him.
Something not covered — at least not that I’ve seen — is that Mahmoud Khalil likely possesses only a “conditional green card” and not permanent resident alien status.
When an alien not entitled to remain in the country marries a US citizen and then applies for a green card, they first get a “conditional green card” which is good for only 2 years. It is one mechanism to watch for sham marriages. That requires an application specific to that purpose. So someone in the US on a student visa, who then marries a US citizen, applies first for a “marriage based” conditional green card.
The INS Form I-130 is filed by the US Citizen spouse to sponsor the alien spouse. It must be filed along with the application by the alien spouse for permanent resident alien status. One noteworthy fact involving Khalil’s proceedings to date is the claim that 1) he’s married to a US citizen, and 2) he has a green card.
But on two occasions his attorney has read a statement from the spouse, but she has yet to be seen or identified. The information on the Form I-130 is supposed to be verified by INS — the Biden INS. All of that information is available to the Trump INS. We should see in the next few days what that information is — and how much that is being reported about him in the media is true.
Trump used to stiff people who worked for him as a Democrat. Why change?
Bitter that statement is untrue. Like most people involved with sub-contractors, there are times where work is shoddy, unfinished, not done within the time limits promised, contractors have used lesser grade materials, which then poses a problem of adjudicating the payment. Trump has addressed these instances in the past. However, most people working for him have had nothing but favorable impressions of him as their employer.
Under Article II of the Constitution, the President can fire any executive branch worker he wants, at any time he wants, for any reason he wants. Like Members of Congress can fire their workers, under Article I. Like federal judges can fire their workers, under Article III.

Reports are coming in, via Jon Solomon, that Ukrainians are being slaughtered in their stand-off/retreat in Kursk by the Russians. How can anyone still keep calling for “Ukraine winning” as the only calculation to be considered in this bloody war, some are saying mirrors WWI in its brutal carnage? Blah, blah, I know Russia was the one who invaded. However, isn’t it time to recognize the deaths, shifting over to how to end such a lopsided conflict, and stop contributing to it by playing proxy to the loser.
And I thought I was having all the fun out fishing all day. Fun stuff on this and the prior thread. Also nice to see Schumer and the Dems cave. Time to catch up on the news…
What is the difference between Democrats ignoring laws, the Constitution, and Court Decisions and Republicans doing the same thing?
Nothing. However, republicans usually don’t color outside the lines of the law like Dems do. I don’t recall republicans changing election laws making it easier to cheat, statute of limitation laws to revisit a 30 year old he-said-she-said charge, or magically turning misdemeanors into a felony to stick it to someone, or overlook conflict of interests when shopping for a judge they can count on to render the verdict they want.
Let’s see when the Dems are back in power whether they will agree with them when they decide to ignore Trump appointed judges.

“This morning, Malcom Nance is writing on Substack that a decision has been made to destabilize Canada and Greenland. With all of this leading to war with both neighbors. He lays out the entire scheme in his piece.
“This is the craziest thing I have ever written. Many indicators are coming in that Trump fully intends to invade Greenland and Canada. “Annex” is just a nice word for killing Canadians/Greenlanders and seizing land we do not own for Elon Musk’s technologist dictatorship. It would cause the Armed Forces to mutiny and Civil War in America to start. Take this talk seriously.”
Here is a summary of the latest BOA investment report, which judging from the economic related posts, some may find interesting. Sorry for the length but I couldn’t post a link, since it’s behind a paywall. In the interest of brevity I cut and pasted the key points –
————————
Bank of America’s Research Investment Committee head Jared Woodard writes that the US had never been more government-dependent: it relies on government for 85% of job growth, 33% of all spending and — worst of all — 6-7% budget deficits, all of which are at record high (excluding crisis and war).
Employment: one year ago, 85% of US job market growth was in government and sectors dependent on government spending like health and education. That number is now falling, today at 70%, and as BofA puts it, “a greater private sector share of job growth should raise productivity”, which confirms that government jobs are about as unproductive and inefficient as they get, something DOGE has been claiming since day
Consumption: in 2024, one third of GDP came from government spending, a record high excluding periods of war or crisis; this was financed by 6-7% budget deficits, another unwelcome peacetime record.
As for Trade, every G20 country has higher average tariff rates than the United States, and most countries hide the true costs in expensive barriers like quotas, price controls, labeling requirements, and testing rules. Including tariffs and nontariff barriers, access to the US market is far cheaper than any G20 country (11% on average)
In summary, “the global handoff from big government to the free market may prove slippery, but it seems necessary given large deficits and bloated debt burdens” and , “the likely productivity gains from a market-based economic reboot are greater than risks, while the risks from the unsustainable status quo of debt-financed, tepid, and narrow economic growth are severe.”
I went to Dkos hoping to read some of the meltdowns about Schumer “folding”.
Was not disappointed.
“I’m sick of bullshit Democrats who only do fundraising instead of leading or governing.
Watching Schumer trying to justify this on All In. I’m screaming at the TV hoping some common sense comes thru to him.”
“Someone posted yesterday they used to see him at the same parties in NYC with Trump, Epstein and the $$$ crowd. That’s HIS base.”
“We should support BETTER Democrats. Fire Schumer. Elect someone younger or at least feistier in his place, like Elizabeth Warren. I would also say Jasmine Crocket should run the House, but all women will probably be required to wear a burka by the time midterms come around.”
I have a hard time imagining someone more out of touch with the current moment in history than Chuck Freaking Schumer”
“It’s time for a hostile takeover. A LefTea Party. They’ve shown themselves to be weak. So it’s time to take them down”
I”‘ve never been more appalled disgusted and horrified by these weak son of a bitches as I am this year.
I even changed my voter registration to independent because having a D next to my name right now feels like fucking slime.”
“A Democratic Senate Leader from the state of NY where the financial hub of the world is and the wealthy titans roam was always a bad idea.”
“F-ckin’s Durbin! That asshole surrender monkey is my senator!
That blue-slip, aisle-crossing, butt-kissing, dinosaur-thinking ding-a-ling ought to be primaried into the damn ground.
DINO = Durbin Is No Opponent.”
“Spineless, feckless f-cking quisling traitor to this nation, to the Constitution, and to all of us. I hate him and all of these feckless fucking cowards more than I hate MAGA right now. How f-cking dare you make their power grab bipartisan? You f-cking yellow-bellied shitbag empty suit f-cks. You COWARDS.
As of today, I’m no longer a Democrat. F-ck them. F-ck everything about them. These millionaire 1% er fuckwads and their f-cking mansions and their f-cking AIPAC funded war chests. They’ve been selling all of us down the f-cking river for decades and laughing all the way to the bank. I hate these fu-king people so much right now. They just handed all of us over to the fascists without firing a single goddamn shot.”
Hey Bitterlaw, since you apparently never got my pre-election sentiments, and my Holiday wishes, and sorry about your leg hope it gets better message, since your Comcast account stopped working, is there a way to contact you by email? if we do not just want to call up your phone number unannounced.
“A Pennsylvania man who was going through security at a New Jersey airport was found to have a live turtle concealed in his pants, according to the federal Transportation Security Administration.
The turtle was detected Friday after a body scanner alarm went off at Newark Liberty International Airport. A TSA officer then conducted a pat-down on the East Stroudsburg man and determined there was something concealed in the groin area of his pants.”
Little Marco had an anti-freedom record in the senate including the gang of 8 with Senator Kennedy , Graham and McCAin. He never should have been appointed SOS.
Congressman Massie and Senator Paul are the only GOP members who are voting against the CR. This CR stops all DOGE department cuts including the fraud Elon has found.
Now Schumer is SUPPORTING Trump’s CR because he knows it’s a good deal for the Diddycrats.
https://x.com/Kahlissee/status/1900295471429521627 Mahmoud Khalil and several students are suing Columbia University, accusing it of illegally handing over their disciplinary records to Congress and other third parties. This is a massive breach of student privacy—confidential information was exposed without consent.
Ukraine is a Democrat money laundering operation. The EU has ended democracy in Romania for Z as well and they want to try it in Poland next. That’s why they tried to kill Trump as well.
I personally think little Marco wants a ceasefire so he can use it to arm up Ukraine and do more war.
Maybe his intentions are legit that he actually wants a ceasefire, but I don’t think Marco should be trusted with anything he says since he’s serial liar.
Also Bitterlaw, since several people have told you this, when you think you are replying to someone’s post, directly under the post, because that is how you see it on your phone, we do not see it that way. We do not have your phone in front of our faces. It looks like you are just randomly spouting off.
Putin accepted the Minsk accords that would have prevented this, but NATO, Ukraine and then neocons used them to re arm Ukraine. Under these circumstances it is absolutely normal that Putin is skeptical…anyone would be frankly
Thank you for letting me know. Well, I don’t post on the computer. Maybe you should try the phone App. Other people manage to have handles. Some don’t. I don’t know how to fix it. DW has tried, too.
EU has been canceling elections and has become an anti-democratic instutition.
Since it’s becoming a massive failed state, I kind of assume either China, Putin or radical islam will have to take it over because if wokes run it then it will keep getting worse.
Trump needs to get out NATO ASAP so the EU can commence it’s EU-Russia war they want to do.
“Longtime Rep. Raúl Grijalva, D-Ariz., a leading progressive voice on the environment and climate change, died Thursday from “complications of his cancer treatment,” his office announced in a statement. He was 77.”
This is the SECOND DE,m Congress critter who has died recently.
Are they committing suicide, or are Trump and Musk behind these deaths?
“After many Trump detractors confidently declared that the decision to put Vance on the ticket would sink Republicans’ chances last November, it became obvious in the final weeks of the race that Vance was one of the campaign’s greatest assets. Even now, as his recent smackdown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office shows, Vance has embraced the vice presidency in a way few others have to advance Trump’s America First agenda.”
his recent smackdown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office
Zelensky is a heroic wartime leader who is at risk every day of being killed in Putin’s war. Vance is Trump’s bitch and attack puppet. Both can be true.
Zelenskyy and Ukraine will, hopefully, be our partners within a short time, giving them security to build up their country, and giving us minerals that we need.

Lucky it was not a snapping turtle…
“A Pennsylvania man who was going through security at a New Jersey airport was found to have a live turtle concealed in his pants, according to the federal Transportation Security Administration.
The turtle was detected Friday after a body scanner alarm went off at Newark Liberty International Airport. A TSA officer then conducted a pat-down on the East Stroudsburg man and determined there was something concealed in the groin area of his pants.”

Maybe his intentions are legit that he actually wants a ceasefire, but I don’t think Marco should be trusted with anything he says since he’s serial liar.
