The 3 posters who loved the way Zelenskyy behaved are Bitter, Jason and anonymous. As remarks, though, are coming in across the country, people (republicans) are supporting the way Trump/Vance stood up to to Zelenskyy and backed the USA. The metaphor “don’t bite the hand who feeds you,” is perfect in describing how tone deaf Zelenskyy was in reading the room.
Zelenskyy is a complete and utter moron. He had a no-fail mission today and he failed miserably.
What’s his plan now that he’s pissed off the US Administration? There is no Plan B (other than Europe, lol), and the imbecile blows up Plan A?!? Some legend….
Actually, Bitter, Zelenskky’s bravado handed Putin a better hand in dealing with how to end the war. His behavior, and less than dignified departure from the WH, will also benefit those wanting to unseat him when elections finally return.
Trump, with American companies, would have developed Ukraine’s rare earth minerals and other material, for the benefit of Ukraine, AND for the United States.
Bitterlaw and jason call that “abandoning Ukraine”.
We need a new HHR dictionary, call it “The Bizarro Edition”.
Jan – I am a Republican since I first registered to vote in 1986. I have never voted for a Democrat (except for Dems like Trump who switched parties to get the Republican nomination). I ran for Federal and local offices as Republican and conservative. Save your lectures.
Zelensky is fighting Putin and Trump for the survival of his country. The “mineral deal” was just Trump seizing Ukrainian resources like Putin seizing Ukrainian territory.
BREAKING: Secretary of State Marco Rubio terminates U.S. support for restoring Ukraine’s energy grid moments after Zelensky was kicked out of the White House – NBC
That’s a good question to ask Zelenskyy, as to what are his options now that he has alienated the US. Is Europe now going to rush to his aid, making up for what has been lost in US aid? Furthermore, France and the UK’s earlier in the week visits set up assistance for Ukraine, when it’s leader arrived for Friday’s signing of an agreement already forged verbally with Rubio and the treasury sec. All that is blown by Zelenskyy’s grandstanding.
Ask him. Why did Trump and Vance have to act like a-holes to show Zelensky how “strong” they are when only Zelensky and Ukrainians face death every day?
Zelenskyy did not exhibit leadership, only performance art. It will be interesting, however, to see both the domestic and international reviews involving the behavior of all parties. I will be especially looking for how the Ukrainian people see the results of their leader’s negotiating skills.
The free passers were not upset went the euros got their money back. They are only upset with the us for asking for some of the money back. A deal crafted or brokered by goober.
Sooooo. I return to the US after being away for some time…to this. I haven’t read the comments from the past ten days or so, but can imagine. I thought, before reading them I would provide the reader a bit of reality from the world outside the USA.
OK, I watched the exchange. It started very innocuously, and Trump was fine. I think JD Vance was ok, but to be honest, he shouldn’t have been there to answer a question. He is a VP and should not be there with two Presidents.
I have to agree that Zelensky inflamed the situation, and you can tell he can not stand Trump…at all.
With that said, Vance really inflamed the situation, especially with his, “you haven’t thanked us” BS. Sorry, this isn’t middle school, you are not Mommy or Daddy. You don’t need to humiliate a foreign leader by saying he should be saying “Thank you” to us. That’s a bunch of BS. Again, he shouldn’t have been there.
Trump should have stepped in the middle of the two of them and said, let’s go to the other room and talk. He didn’t.
No one is blameless here. Zelensky is just as much as fault of Trump/Vance, and his comment about us feeling the same in the future was a BS comment.
So now there is going to be a massive vacuum caused by this. I can tell you who will fill the void, get the deal done, get to rebuild Ukraine and get all those rare earths…in my next post.

“What leadership did Vance exhibit? Why did he even speak?”
-Personally, that was the first time I heard a VP speak when the President is around. I was surprised by it. If Trump was surprised as well, that is an issue that needs to be rectified. There should ONLY be 1 voice. BUT, since everyone on the USofAltruism side all spoke the same way, no harm done. No “santino” situation like in The Godfather.
Of course, I wasn’t proclaiming anyone a great leader.
Only you were, Bitterlaw.
Again – why agree to the meeting if not on board with the agreement?
Long time lurker here who really appreciates DWs polling analysis. Thanks DW for getting me through that last election, However, the Ukrainiaks on this board have me flummoxed. I’ve watched the video of Trump, Zelensky, and Vance multiple times and I can’t see how anyone, other than colonial Nicholson in bridge over river Kwai, who would take the position that they are “glad” to see Zelinsky’s performance and how he should be commended for standing up to President Trump. Only someone who is in a ukraniak cult would see it that way. Zelenskyy was completely out of line and acted abhorrent in our Oval Office, and I’m someone who was generally sympathetic to his country’s needs and position. Think about it, even Lindsay Graham, who never saw a war he didn’t like, is appalled by Zelenskyy and is calling for him to resign.
Thank you @POTUS for standing up for America in a way that no President has ever had the courage to do before. Thank you for putting America First. America is with you!
Trump asked Zelenskyy if he expected him to first excoriate Putin, and then go to him asking for a peace deal? He also reminded Zelenskyy that he was in the middle trying to negotiate peace, rather than side with one or the other. By not publicly coddling Zelenskyy, though, some like to think he is voicing Putin’s talking points. It doesn’t dawn on the Zelenskyy fan club that Trump is advocating for this country’s best interest – something he has always said he was doing.
Thank you America, thank you for your support, thank you for this visit. Thank you @POTUS, Congress, and the American people. Ukraine needs just and lasting peace, and we are working exactly for that.
Apparently, Zelensky was late to his meeting with Trump because he was meeting with dem Senator supporters at the Hay Adams Hotel in DC beforehand. They probably encouraged him to stand up to Trump, that they had his back, causing him to come into the Trump meeting cocky and with a “chip on his shoulder,” as some have reported.

I can say, that I do agree Trump didn’t start this. Vance…who should not have been in the room, and should have been silent (he’s the Vp. Not the President).
with that said, Zelenskyy really turned up the heat a lot. There was no need for him to go back to 2014, and for him to try to implicate Trump in previous Russian incursions. They were not during his admin. Also, his “threat” that Americans would someday feel war was uncalled for.
neither side was right and both sides were wrong in this exchange. Vance was waiting to pounce on Zelenskyy, and Zelenskyy obviously hates Trump. He couldn’t contain his vitriol for him.
Zelenskyy is not the only one with something to lose. We will as well.
The vacuum Vic spoke about is real, and if we don’t fill that spot, most likely China does.
Bitterlaw alluded to doing the “right thing” – the USA does the right thing, by looking out for its own interests, as well as for others, which usually benefit the globe (see 1945-NOW!). The deal to develop the mining industry for Ukraine – YES, it will benefit us! AND THE UKRAINIAN PEOPLE!
The Chicoms? They will take what they want, and treat the Ukrainians like the residents of Hong Kong……..unless Bitterlaw and jason believe they are altruistic in thinking……
“Zzzzzzzzz. Trump lives to make deals that only benefit Trump. He did not become a billionaire by making deals that benefit others.”
Bitterlaw,
Stop it, please. There are thousands of people, if not millions, who have benefitted from both his political deals, as well as his prior deals as a real estate developer.
The EU will try to prop up Zelensky in Ukraine but they’re terrified they can’t do so without US money. The only big player who can offset funds is China. Expect now an EU pivot to China, with China seeking best of both worlds in energy deals w/ Russia & development deals w/ EU
Bitter, you may think of yourself as a solid conservative. However, the party/people who support the Ukrainian War like you do are predominantly progressive Democrats.
Is it my fault that Democrats are actually right about something? You supported Ukraine’s defeat from the first day of the war. You never condemned it or expressed concern for Ukrainians. Vic correctly pointed out your hatred of Zelensky goes back to the impeachment (that Zelensky did nothing to support).
Wear a suit to meet with the President of the United States
Be overwhelmingly grateful for the generosity of the American people
Don’t campaign in Pennsylvania
Don’t pose for Vogue in the middle of a war

WH OFFICIALS TELL FOX: -TRUMP KICKED OUT ZELENSKYY – HE DID NOT WALK OFF ON HIS OWN -RARE MINERALS DEAL WAS NOT SIGNED. – WH SAYS “UKRAINANS WERE BEGGING TO RESET” BUT RUBIO AND WALTZ INFORMED THEM ZELENSKYY NEEDS TO LEAVE WHITE HOUSE GROUNDS, RETURN WHEN HE’S READY FOR PEACE -THE PRESIDENT AND US OFFICIALS FELT DISRESPECTED BY ZELENSKYY’S RHETORIC AND DEMEANOR – CITED THAT HE WAS “SHRUGGING AND ROLLING HIS EYES” DURING THE CONVERSATION **WHEN I WENT TO UPPER PRESS TO ASK WHAT WAS GOING ON, THE LUNCH THAT TRUMP AND ZELENSKYY WERE SUPPOSED TO DINE ON AND TALK OVER WAS SITTING IN THE HALLWAY. I’M TOLD WHITE HOUSE PRESS OFFICE STAFFERS WILL BE EATING IT.
“Glad I didn’t waste time with you at The Hooters show. You have the same heartless character as the rest of the Cult.”
Seriously? LOL
If your friendship is so shallow that a foreign war where you would not send your kids to fight would break it off, then I’ll gladly walk threw that puddle if I have to.
If I do ever see you somewhere, I will smile and offer my hand in friendship. If it isn’t accepted, so be it.
UKRAINE: Sec Rubio just got rug pulled. Zelensky assured him the mineral deal was locked in, and Rubio confidently told the president it was a done deal, with Zelensky visiting the White House to sign. Instead, Zelensky shifted the goalposts—demanding US ground troops, knowing Trump wouldn’t agree. Zelensky isn’t an honest broker.
Then ignore me. I stand by what I said. If you don’t see that Trump favors Putin (“Ukraine started this war) and Putin alone benefits from this, we have nothing to discuss.
Great take here…”One thing I think the Zelensky debacle illustrates is that European leaders have not grasped that America’s elite media institutions have lost all authority to make political consensus.” @Heminator
NYC – I never called for US troops in Ukraine. Your position is pro-Putin. That proves you have no character or decency. I hope you, your family, and business prosper.
If you watch the full Trump-Zelensky press conference, it is very clear that Zelensky, not Trump or Vance, became the antagonist. Both POTUS and VP were very respectful and cordial until Zelensky very publicly ignited a firestorm.
It all starts at 40:30
1) Zelensky essentially rejects how VP described the mandate of POTUS to conduct foreign affairs, and he insinuates that Trump term one did nothing to stop Putin.
2) He then basically tells Vance that his ideas are faulty and that the administration’s diplomacy won’t work.
These two comments are *deliberately antagonistic.* Everything was all well and good, but Zelensky took two major shots in a public forum, and they had to respond. And respond they did.
Recall, this is the guy who interfered in our electoral politics and called VP “too radical,” and bashed Trump in an interview with New York Mag weeks before the election.
“Your position is pro-Putin. That proves you have no character or decency. “
No it is not. It is pro-American and pro-Ukrainian independence.
We would help develop their industries so that they could become an economic powerhouse whom we can continuously trade with in the future, just like we did with Germany and Japan after WWII, and with Korea after their stalemate.

Seriously? LOL
If your friendship is so shallow that a foreign war where you would not send your kids to fight would break it off, then I’ll gladly walk threw that puddle if I have to.
If I do ever see you somewhere, I will smile and offer my hand in friendship. If it isn’t accepted, so be it.
Cheers.

The crazy little tyrant was on full display today. Zelenskyy can run into the arms of the globalist WEF Euro leaders…Who cares.
He made an even bigger ass of himself on Fox later at 6 pm.
He is exactly who I always thought he was. The Ukrainian people need a new leader fast…

Then ignore me. I stand by what I said. If you don’t see that Trump favors Putin (“Ukraine started this war) and Putin alone benefits from this, we have nothing to discuss.

I have hunch Macron etc…encouraged Zelenskyy to plead his case to Trump in continuing the war.

Putin definitely gained the most today. But that is all on Zelenskyy not Trump.

Zelensky is ENTIRELY at fault here. 100%.

You are just simply stuck on Putin.
