  5. Son’s car stalls out.

Took it to dealership on Tuesday morning. Told them it was a camshaft position sensor that needed replaced (accd. to device that Auto Zone hooked up).

The dealerships STILL has not installed a new CPS. Not on Tuesday, Wed., Thurs., Fri…

Wife says son should just trade it in rather than spend any money on it. What is on lot at dealership? Cheapest is a 2018 Buick Encore for $20,500. Son has had about five times in past 5 months run into things, knocked off passenger mirror and door handle, boogered up driver side fender, etc. I suspect son’s car is NOW not worth $5,000 as a trade in.

Plus the car inspection is due next month. And it has to have a passenger mirror to pass inspection. Tires are a question–one is brand new and 3 are older…

Son has terrible credit rating. We could co-sign, but can son swing $300/mo car payment?

My wife is mad at me that 1) son has beat up the exterior of his car, 2) that his car stalls out and is unreliable, 3) that I am still going down the road to spend the money (son will pay me back–he has no credit card) to get the car roadworthy, 4) that the dealership has no sensibly priced vehicles on which to negotiate a trade, and 5) that I have allowed son to use my car to get back and forth to work or run errands. I will be getting up t 5:15 a.m. to take him to work his 6 to 6 shift and then go pick him up, unless he gets a ride…

I sure am glad my wife is back from her weekend trip to Chicago to see our terminally ill friend.

  22. So Polymarket says 98% chance the German coalition will CDU/SPD when in reality the electorate is saying the coalition should be CDU/AfD.

Isolating the AfD will just increase their popularity, and at 20% they were only like 9% less than the CDU. If the CDU/SPD coalition falters, they could well win the next election.

I am not a fan of the AfD, don’t get me wrong, but making them a minority partner in a coalition with the CDU would force them to actually govern instead of just grandstanding and posturing. This coalition would have a strong majority in Parliament and the CDU could just refuse to go along with the more radical AfD proposals. However, there should be a lot they could agree on especially on immigration and crime and energy and pro-business policies.

By electing to govern with the socialists again the CDU is basically agreeing to water down any real conservative proposals they ran on.

The silver lining here is that the Greens are out of the coalition, so there won’t be much pressure to enact economy killing policies.

No shrink can fix that kind of delusion.

I’m very concerned about the politicization of the leadership of the bureau, Kash Patel. I’m on Kash Patel’s enemy list in his book.

And so, between Kash Patel and Pam Bondi and others, is the bureau, is the Department of Justice going to uphold its tradition of making sure that they carry out their responsibilities with integrity and in an apolitical fashion?”

“OMAR: These people are just idiots. I really, you know, I’m at the point where it’s become really hard to have an intellectual debate with any of these people because the level of stupidity that they are displaying every single day is frankly embarrassing, not just in Congress, but as Americans, and the fact that these people are allowed to say the most ridiculous things tells you that the dumbing of the United States has arrived because how else do we get a Trump presidency again?”

  31. Just found something I posted many years ago on HHR:

How much is 3 trillion dollars?

Suppose you hire a consultant for the outrageous price of a dollar a second. This means it costs $60 a minute, and $3600 per hour. But lets say you are the federal government and you have over three trillion dollars you want to spend on this consultant…it would mean it you would hire him for ……… 100,000 YEARS!

    dollar / timespan

    $1 – 1 second

    $60 – 1 minute

    $3,600 – 1 hour

    $86,400 – 1 day

    $31,536,000 – 1 year

    $315,360,000 – 1 decade

    $3,153,600,000 – 1 century

    $31,536,000,000 – 1 millennium

    $315,360,000,000 – 10,000 years

    $3,153,600,000,000 – 100,000 years
