  6. DW, one other thing on he K-129. It’s possible that there was an incident with a US sub a la one of the theories behind the Scorpion loss. I’d also consider alternatives such as TORPEX or torpedo fuel detonation similar to what doomed the Kursk. Or if she was snorkling and then overcome with seepage from the tube, excess flooding could have overwhelmed the crew.

Also, being a diesel and operating submerged, those batteries could have exploded as well.

  7. GF, in hindsight, I should have made this one a Part One and Part Two, with one being what sunk the K-129, and then two, did Azorian project raise it, and how much.

  8. “could have overwhelmed the crew.”

In addition to the crew being oversized for the vessel (82 capacity carrying 98), it was said that a large number of the crew were on their first mission–perhaps indicating user error in response to any emergency.

Ha! Democrats still think this is a winning issue for them!

They think that because men are free to pay a surgeon to insert blobs of silicone in their chests, that not only must all society celebrate this, but women’s sports have to be sacrificed as part of this celebration.

  10. Excess crew can mean any number of things, though for a sub, it’s highly unusual to have that many extra bodies outside of a training exercise (for which having newbies onboard would make sense). Because the boat was on a standard patrol cycle, though, methinks it was given a special operation, such that would required an extra party available either for boardings or a landing of sorts (gather intel, sabotage, who knows?).

Being that far south and east was SOP for the Red Navy; I used to see Russian subs pop up not far from Pearl back in the late 90s. It’s that crew figure that has me wondering what they were up to.

  12. Exactly Chicon, now Dems have the task of persuading Americans that women’s sports MUST be destroyed to make way for the uninterrupted celebration of grown men who pay surgeons to insert blobs of silicone in their chests. You know, a common kitchen table subject that every American is anxious about.

  13. DW, I watched Martina Navrotilova on the subject of women’s sports. I think she is a good example of what Jennings is talking about. She is hard left politically with a history as a feminist. The Left’s crazy stance on men in women’s sports forced her to side with the party she can’t stand on an issue of great importance to her.

”In a bombshell revelation that could shake the foundations of American healthcare, Elon Musk, leading the charge under President Trump’s newly minted Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has uncovered what he describes as a staggering “$100B of taxpayer money” wasted by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).”

The official story on the Russian sub is absolutely true.

Too many witnesses talked about it for it not to be true, and that is one thing many conspiracies lack. I heard Buck Sexton, former CIA< the other day say that government is a terrible keeper of secrets. That is why he thinks nothing major will come out of the JFK files, if there was something there it would be out already.

However, it is not complete because we don’t really know what they found. The more valuable info was probably lost when the 2/3rd of the sub broke off, but in any case this was not a nuclear sub, it was a conventionally powered sub with nuclear weapons. I doubt any great secrets were uncovered.

What is fascinating about this story is not what was discovered, but the operation itself. It was a fabulously bold and clever operation.

  24. Sorry, Chicon…..you don’t get it. There was no Biden admin manipulation here. This is just the annual benchmarking, done by the BLS, and the Census Bureau. Accurately measuring and estimating the work status of almost 200 million people is a very difficult job, and one that these agencies do amazingly well.

If you want to criticize some recent badly gathered and estimated data, look no further than Trump’s 2020 decennial census disaster. He was so obsessed with his plan to not count those in the country illegally that he failed to hire enough people to properly conduct the decennial, then completely folded when Covid hit – relying on poor and biased estimates.

The Constitution requires an actual enumeration for the decennial census, and for the first time since 1870, the government (led by Trump) failed to meet their obligations.

It is a fascinating story which is why I picked it for this series on Unsolved Mysteries. If two-thirds of the sub broke off and fell back to the bottom of the ocean, how was it then that we returned the ship’s bell to Russia decades later? The bell would have been in the conning tower that broke off and was lost during the lift.

Maybe there is a good answer to this, I have just never seen one yet.

That would be remarkable given the conning tower was more or less intact and not broken open.

One easy answer to this would be if a new survey was done on the site, drop a camera, snap a picture of what’s on the bottom, and be done with it.

Bitter you’re heartless and seem to look at war as a game – like the Super Bowl topic on this thread – being nothing but winning, punishing Putin, while it’s the average Ukrainian being punished the most. Not once do you talk about the extended misery this extended war has placed on its people. In my experience, a question is used to elicit more information, so that you can then make a statement like “Well, Jan was hoping for 100% destruction. Putin let her down.”, because she answered in a certain way.

I didn’t see any answers to you questions.

Therefore, that comment was you claiming she thinks in a certain way, with no factual evidence to back it up.
