interesting adventure today. trying to find and access our safe deposit box. We have had it for decades. Was in the F and N bank on Burke St. But about 5 years ago–about the same time we move to our present home–that building was sold and it is niwsomething other than a bank.
We have our safe deposit key and paid invoices from Truist Bank in NC that we paid the fee each year.
Finally track down that the safe deposit boxes were moved to another bank facility on Queen st. All these bank mergers, jeesh.⁷
That (now) Truist bank cannot seem to find our records, sign in sheet, and box. After lots of dead ends, they finally found the box. Only thing still in it are our wills (as I suspected–and is what we were looking for). Took a long time. ..
apparently the records are not digitalis so they had to go through various unkempt filing cabi et drawers to find me. The o e gal said appologetically that you would think these would have been digitalized… Took three bank employees about a half an hour to finally bring the right result.
I should have played with the bank people when we opened it and said dramatically as I clutched my heart, “where is the quarter million dollars I left in here?”

Jason is the winner. Chile it is. Here is the logic I anticipated:
The mountains are big, and the climate looks cold and the buildings down the street look like the sort that you see in extreme cold environments.
But Alaska and Canada are ruled out because you can see panaderia on the sign, which is SPANISH for “Bakery,” not to mention the term Supermercado instead of Supermarket.
This pushes us south in our thinking, and the flag on the pole is barely visible, but is not the colors of Argentina.
That leaves CHILE, and in fact this is Puerto Williams, the southernmost town in the world.
