A week ago, I was promised that my statement, on the record, would corroborate the other accusations and make a difference in key votes. But in the end, it did not.”

So she admits she did not come forward voluntarily, she was “promised” something in return.

It would be interesting to know who promised her it would make a “difference in key votes”.

I believe Trump cannot help himself in making unforced errors and cannot change in attacking and trying to destroy anyone, especially Rs (who he NEEDS) who dare to oppose and disagree with him on anything. I believe Trump misreads what his reelection meant and think that Trump thinks 90% of the people love him and will support him whatever he does.

I support Trump’s efforts to get rid of DEI goofiness.

I believe Trump renaming the Gulf of Mexico is stupid.

Same for Trump’s push to somehow take Greenland and retake the Panama Canal.

Same for Trump EO unconstitutionally ending birthright citizenship.

Same for pardoning or whatever even the people who assaulted police officers on Jan 6. Should have been on case by case basis.”

I agree with Walt on all of this.

    Sue me.

  9. Here’s another thing that would be “interesting to know”, at least to some….

The CIA concluded during the Biden Administration that the Covid likely came from a lab leak in Wuhan. The finding was not released to the public (previous conclusions leaning toward wet markets were made public).

What info caused the change in assessment? And why wasn’t the new assessment made public?

Between 75,000 and 80,000 of the over 300,000 missing migrant children have been located, according to Harris Faulkner on Fox News. She stated that the Trump administration’s efforts to identify these children began even before the election and emphasized the importance of finding “these little ones.” Faulkner blasted former Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for lying to a committee about not knowing the whereabouts of these missing children. Tom Homan announced that plans to launch an operation to locate and rescue these children would begin immediately.

I would have been more impressed if Trump had put a bet on the craps table.

At Dkos they would have wanted him prosecuted for gambling while President.

Not a crime? No problem, Jamie Raskin could introduce a bill to make it one.

Tulsi only at 57% of confirmation at Polymarket.

    RFK at 76%.

Personally, I think both are liberal Dems and I don’t trust either one. I recognize they helped Trump get elected and he values loyalty. But the R senators don’t owe either one any loyalty and they should vote their conscience.

In my view, RFK Jr. is a far left kook who holds a few non-traditional (for far leftists) positions. But he is a big government statist at heart, he is basically an global warming alarmist and eco-terrorist.

On April 28, Trump wrote this about RFK jr.

“Kennedy is “far more LIBERAL than anyone running as a Democrat, including West and Stein,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sunday morning, referencing third-party candidates Cornel West and Jill Stein.”

Trump was either right in April or he is right now. I think he was right in April.

But put a gun to my head, I think both get confirmed, but Tulsi will probably need Vance. Also possible she will not get McConnell or Curtis to vote for her, in which case she will need Fetterman.

I think RFK Jr will lose more than 3 R votes but make it up with a few Dem votes.

My youngest son has packed up some stuff and left last night. Don’t know where he is going, how he is going to make it, or whether this is temporary or permanent. I assume he still went to his job this morning. For decades he has wrestled with depression and substance abuse.

The sermon in church this morning was comforting.

We still ordered a take home meal at the restaurant after church for our son and will have it here if he decides to come home this evening.

  24. for Janz.

I completed my legislative service in 2016.

This bill you asked about on the previous thread is here:

    https://www.wvlegislature.gov/Bill_Text_HTML/2021_SESSIONS/RS/signed_bills/senate/SB272%20SUB1%20ENR_signed.pdf

I do not know about much the ins and outs of this bill that pass passed in 2021.

It seems it involved what contract employees a business had to pay workers comp on.

The role call voters in House and Senate indicate there was sharp division between Rs who supported passage and Ds who opposed passage.

  25. Walt, I imagine its heart wrenching to watch your son pack and leave, not knowing where he is going or if he’s going to be ok. We can only (and will) pray that he is safe, that he knows what he is doing, and most importantly, comes to his senses and comes home where he is loved and cared for.

Thank you for your kind words.

I don’t know if depression leads to alcohol/substance abuse or if the alcohol/other substance abuse leads to depression, but it is sure a vicious downward spiral that is hard to break.

I convinced myself long that what I have had to struggle with as a parent related to my younger son 30 years worth of issues is God’s 10-fold punishment to me for what I put my own parents through during my last semester (9th) in college and the next 3 years right after college when I lost my way and went through my own internal struggles and desert experience. I know I was a big worry to my loving parents as well…

Happily, I did right my own ship and have lived a blessed life.

  29. Repost from late last night:

I wanted to get Walt’s take on this Tim Pool video where he says he is exiting West Virginia with his business due to a law that is similar to California’s AB5. I was surprised at what he described, since it is what you would expect in a progressive blue state like CA, OR, WA or MD.

  30. Walt, it’s quite common for those with depression to “self medicate,” creating extenuating problems dealing with substance abuse. I have lots of empathy for your circumstances mainly because I’ve been where you are with our own son. The heartache that comes with watching your child unable to cope with life is unimaginably difficult. Bottoming out, realizing you have a problem, and reaching out for help is the path out son finally took, with the help and discipline of AA, and he fortunately is doing well today. I hope your son is able to find his own path to recovery very soon.
