I love the smell of wokeness roasted in the morning…
President Donald Trump’s administration moved Tuesday to end affirmative action in federal contracting and directed that all federal diversity, equity and inclusion staff be put on paid leave and eventually be laid off
In light of the above Executive Orders, each should take prompt actions regarding the offices and agency sub-units focusing exclusively on DEIA initiatives and programs (the “DEIA offices”). Specifically, agency heads should take the following steps:
1. No later than 5:00 pm EST on Wednesday, January 22, 2025
a. Send an agency-wide notice to employees informing them of the closure and asking employees if they know of any efforts to disguise these programs by using coded or imprecise language a template agency-wide notice is attached as Appendix 1.
b. Send a notification to all employees of DEIA offices that they are being placed on paid administrative leave effective immediately as the agency takes steps to close/end all DEIA initiatives, offices, and programs. A template employee letter is attached as Appendix 2.
c. Take down all outward facing media (websites, social media accounts, etc.) of DEIA offices.
The shock and awe of countless executive actions hints at a far more professional White House operation than his chaotic first term. New White House chief of staff Susie Wiles was credited with adding structure to the Trump campaign while not being able to temper his wild, sometimes self-destructive improvisational instincts. Perhaps she can do the same in the West Wing.
And unlike during his first few days in office the last time around, Trump knows what he wants to do and how to do it. His good humor after the adulation of his second inauguration – so-far undimmed by inevitable political setbacks – has probably helped too.”
I believe that Trump knows the EO will be overturned unanimously by the SC. There is no other way to read the amendment than to say, any person born on American soil is American, no matter the status of the parents. There is also this little thing called stare decisis, and this SC would be hard pressed to reverse a 100 year old precedent.
With that said, I think he did it to give his base fodder. A big chunk of red meat to salivate over while other things are going on. He, his cabinet, his lawyers, et al know he’s going to have it overturned…and fairly quickly I believe.”
Of course HE knows its not going anywhere. He did it because it was a campaign promise. But the Cultists here want to believe, and our resident racist xenophobe NYC has had several orgasms rejoicing about the prospect of children born in the US being denied citizenship.
Trump is doing what he said he wanted to do, and these two miniature poodles (who for some reason voted for such a horrible man) are yapping away.
It is fun to see clips from the leftists whining. It is also enjoyable to watch the Trump hating “Republicans” bark about stuff they voted for being enacted.
I certainly will not support denying citizenship to babies born in the US. I certainly will not support a trade policy based on tariffs and stupid trade wars.
If that is going to be a problem for Chicon he is going to have a rough 4 years here at HHR.

Jason, Bitter loathes Trump, just like the Lincoln Project people. You posted something about Trump being better prepared this time, including better humor, and that this scares the leftists.

Jason, Bitter loathes Trump, just like the Lincoln Project people”
Nah. You know that is a lie.
Bitter loathes Trump as a person, but he has supported him 3 times as President, and like me, he is not going to support everything on his agenda but will support most of it
The Lincoln Project people spent hundreds of millions trying to elect Democrats, they didn’t vote for Trump and didn’t support ANY of his agenda.
Bitter’s response is to take a shot at the good humor part”
I actually had the same reaction, I don’t view Trump as having particular good humor, and it certainly surprised me MSNBC does.
But you took an isolated comment, most likely meant as humor by Bitter himself, to construct a whole argument against him based on lies and falsehoods.
I know its what you do, but it is despicable nonetheless.
Only as a person. He was a good President in his first term. I have not commented about his current 3 day administration beyond saying it is a waste of time trying to overturn the 14th Amendment by EO.

“Here’s my opinion. Although I haven’t seen the counterargument fully briefed in legal filings, so my opinion is flexible, I tend to think that the current application of the 14th Amendment creating birthright citizenship is probably correct. I don’t have to like that. That’s just my legal analysis, and I can be convinced otherwise and maybe I will be once I see the issue fully briefed. I do see huge practical problems with applying it. How does this affect people who currently have citizenship but would not have it under the new interpretation of the 14th Amendment? Do we apply the new interpretation from now on, or do we reach back and strip them of citizenship? I think denaturalizing current citizens would be unjust, and I am about as anti-illegal alien as you can get without wanting to hunt them for sport.”
Jason says…”The Lincoln Project also opposes them, not because they are flaming liberals, but because Trump appointed them.
I think under Chicon’s analogy above, it makes me a Lincoln Project supporter.”
The analogy is about the initial anti-Trump filter caused by intense personal dislike.
On the other hand, I’m not concerned so much about him as a person. But, I think he’s a better person than he gets credit for. His family seems to be solid people who care for him. He does a lot for people in his life. He’s also had plenty of affairs and says bad things about people.
My natural bias on issues starts with I generally like what he’s doing and what he says he will do, so stuff I disagree with doesn’t bother me as much as someone who can’t stand the guy.
Neither approach is right or wrong, but they do exist among humans.
Reasonable take by Kurt Schlichter. Still a topic worth raising, imo. I don’t think the drafters of 14th believed that the kid of an illegal alien born here was covered. They added the language about being subject to the jurisdiction thereof for a reason. Like Kurt Schlichter said,I’m open to reading the arguments in the courts.
I know Bitter is trolling with his Ukraine comment, but I did notice Trump’s response on Ukraine yesterday. Iirc, he said he’s ready to talk with Pooty Poot but he’s arming Ukraine in the meantime.
I believe (and hope) he will arm Ukraine (perhaps to a greater level than did Joe – Trump doesn’t like being 2nd) and try to force Pooty Poot to take the deal all parties (except Bitter and perhaps Jason) will accept.
When all is said and done, the blame will be almost exclusively on Pooty Poot. Biden gets some, too; because he was in a position to possibly prevent the invasion and did nothing, and because he purposely slow-played the approval for the most effective weapons.
“You don’t have to like everything in the restaurant to like the restaurant,” Gutfeld explained. “There are things that Trump will do that I will disagree with. But the entire package is the closest you’re going to get to what Americans want.”
I agree with Greg. For some reason, 90% of Bitter’s posts, and a somewhat smaller portion of Jason’s posts, are complaints about Trump. They tend to ignore the package.
I think the dumbest thing Trump advocated for in his speech is the absurd idea of planting a flag on Mars.
a) The costs would be astronomical (no pun intended), at a time when Biden has bankrupted the country and we are trillions in debt.
b) Even with the best of technology, and no mishaps, the trip there and back would be extremely risky and essentially a suicide mission for any volunteer.
c) Landing on Mars is nothing at all like landing on the Moon. The moon is essentially a rock. No atmosphere. The Martian atmosphere is constantly changing, making every landing there unpredictably and risky. This is why many probes have crashed into the Mars surface instead of landing safely.
Many other problems could be raised, but its not really necessary.
The proposal got a huge smile from Musk, but that’s it.
But, I think he’s a better person than he gets credit for. His family seems to be solid people who care for him. He does a lot for people in his life.”
I agree with all that, and for that reason I think Bitter is being a hypocrite “loathing Trump” when Biden was taking showers with his daughter, Clinton was getting bj’s from an intern in the Oval Office, JFK was banging anything available in the WH and elsewhere, etc.
Trump is actually no better or worse character wise compared to JFK, Nixon, Clinton, Obama…. may Carter fares better because he only lusted “in his heart”.
My issues with Trump are 100% policy related, nothing to do with “character” or even personality.
For years here I defended mean tweets as essential for his political survival and challenged Bitter on his “morality” take on Trump.
Did I disagree with some of them? Of course, I have never forgiven him for attacking McCain’s military service or calling a federal judge a “Mexican”. But I also took issue with those here that wanted Trump to play nice. A play nice Trump would not have survived his first term, let alone had a chance for a second one.
DW, I don’t care much about Mars, plenty of bigger fish to fry, imo.
I wonder, though, if people in the early 1960’s had similar thoughts when JFK decided to go to the moon? Also, there were many technical challenges to going to the moon, and overcoming them appears to have benefitted society.
To me, the Gulf of America thing is stupid, and looks childish.
Because Trump has been in and out of power since 2017. His character matters to me. If you open up a history book, you will see that JFK, Nixon, Clinton, Obama and Biden are dead or out of power so they are irrelevant. I trashed Clinton when he was President as a scumbag before HHR existed. Trump is also a crude, classless a-hole who treats most people
, including Republicans not in the Cult, as garbage.
“I wonder, though, if people in the early 1960’s had similar thoughts when JFK decided to go to the moon?”
Two entirely different goals. The moon is nearby and reachable in days. Mars is minimal six months one-way, and probably longer on return trip given the earth passes Mars once every two years. So timing of the approach and return is critical.
The risks of the Mars mission are exponentially greater. Even if we limited the engineers to only the brightest and best, there still would be the potential for mistakes and miscalculations.
And of course the monetary costs would be enormously different. Now its true that in any such mission, there would be a byproduct of discoveries and inventions that benefit society, but most of these were probably the low hanging fruit already discovered by the apollo missions.
However, I find your reasons based on “character” shallow and unconvincing.
There is a lot not to like about Trump’s policies. His personal faults, if you want to call them that, are not that different from the average President.
I go back to family. He has a niece who is a rabid hater but based on politics. Everyone else seems to be doing well, is supportive, and stands by him. Despite his prior divorces, he has had a stable marriage for over 20 years, and even then, he was on good terms with his exes.
It doesn’t mean he is not a narcissistic blowhard. But that is different from “character”.
The risks of the Mars mission are exponentially greater. Even if we limited the engineers to only the brightest and best, there still would be the potential for mistakes and miscalculations.”
All such ventures have the risk for mistakes and miscalculations, but if we thought that way for everything we would still be living in caves, venturing out of them was fraught with potential for mistakes and miscalculations.
Is Mars a much bigger project than the moon? Sure. But then we are technologically 50+ years more advanced than 1969.
“Is Mars a much bigger project than the moon? Sure. But then we are technologically 50+ years more advanced than 1969.”
And yet when it comes to propulsion through the void of space, we are not that much more advanced.
If you asked the average person in 1969 how fast we could get to Mars by the year 2025, the response would be along the lines of days to weeks, an opinion based on the projected technological advances and influenced by the proliferation of Hollywood productions.
Seems like Don was suffering from other issues than dementia. The fact he was accepted for hospice care means his health was deemed to be quite fragile.
Given his situation and quality of life in the last few weeks, it might have been a blessing for his wife, family and friends.
Don’t get me wrong, I am fascinated by Mars exploration just like anyone else. But the unmanned probes can do amazing work without the risk of human life and the costs of transporting that life back and forth.
The birthright citizen guarantee in the 14th amendment, has been interpreted in different ways, but has never gone through a clarifying challenge in the SC. Many have said the founding fathers wording was directed at African Americans brought here as slaves, giving them a birthright status, but was never meant for an onslaught of illegal immigrants giving anchor babies automatic citizenship. In fact I believe no other country has subjected itself to such an open ended citizenship standard. Anyway, what Trump has done is provide a controversial EO opening the door for the SC to decide its constitutional merit.
I listened to a post-inaugural interview with Victor Davis Hansen, where he went more extensively into Trump’s 2nd term policies, cabinet choices, personality and character. It was well done, but then I am a big fan of VDH. It was presented by a British station on the UTube platform.

If all those Presidents are scumbags, as you call Trump, then why do you only call him a scumbag?

It is.
But I agree with Mt. Mckinley, the Dems changed to be woke and probably because McKinley was a Republican.

I understand you don’t like Trump.

But its still six months.

Sorry Walt, for the loss of your friend.
