NEW: Michael Cohen begs and grovels so hard for a pardon from Biden that even MSNBC has to admonish him: COHEN: “I would expect that the same exact pardon that he gave his son.” SANDERS: “To be very clear, you’re not the president’s son.”
I thought the isolationists opposed “nation building”.
But hey, if Trump believes he can turn Iran into a “democracy”, I will support him in that endeavor.
“The world must return to a policy of “maximum pressure” against Iran to turn it into a more democratic country, U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming Ukraine envoy Keith Kellogg told an Iranian opposition event in Paris on Saturday.”
I actually thing Kellogg’s statements on Ukraine (and now Iran) are encouraging. They reflect an understanding that campaign rhetoric and actual governing are two different things.
In the musical Hamilton! there is an argument between Jefferson and Hamilton. Jefferson points out that he wrote the Declaration of Independence. Hamilton responds that this was great but now they were running a real nation.
“I will have Elon Musk run out of here by Inauguration Day,” Bannon said. “He is a truly evil guy, a very bad guy. I made it my personal thing to take this guy down.”
It doesn’t matter to Bannon that Musk was instrumental in Trump winning. That he transformed the largest social media platform in favor of free speech. That he is tasked with a huge job to cut govt waste and spending.
What matters to Bannon is that he disagrees on one issue.
Such is the life of a deadender. Tina, janzam and Chicon will be proud.
Trump can choose between X and its 200 million viewers or Bannon with his podcast to the Cult. The support of the world’s richest and most innovative guy or Bannon’s deadender conspiracy theories. Between someone who can actually change how government operates and a useless blowhard who can merely talk about it.
Sorry, the Trump family nor Trump himself EVER promoted Bannon. He was brought into the campaign after Cruz dropped out along with Kellyanne Conway. KC is a decent person who supports the MAGA agenda. Bannon is a user, grifter, liar, who is extremely good at basking in reflected glory.
The same people who love Bannon are the same ones who love Kari Lake and her ilk. Waste of time, both of them.
And very suddenly, but predictably, one week from today, HOMELESSNESS will be discovered to be an American TRAGEDY all across the country, and Trump has done nothing to fix it.
Senator Barasso, the Senate whip, is vowing to work thru the night, if necessary, to approve Trump’s cabinet nominees as soon as possible – no matter the obstructions Schumer might throw at the hearings. Encouraging to hear.
The importance of California’s economy, as well as the creativity of people living here, is being understood more and more, as the severity of this massive fire sinks on. Malibu and Pacific Palisades houses some of the country’s most influential “movers and shakers,” the majority who ironically voted for the wrong politicians/leaders. It’s estimated, for instance, that 70% voted for Bass (a Marxist) over Caruso a businessman.
Jan, they say you get the government you vote for.
Chicago had Lori Lightfoot (who looked like the love child of Grady from Sanford and Son, and Beetlejuice), and she was awful. She was bounced after one term because of Covid anger. The choices to replace her were a normal dem, and a progressive psycho. The psycho won.
Hi Everyone. I hope you are all well and having a good year. I am back from West Africa and wanted to comment on a few things.
Ironically, Bass was at the Ghanian inauguration…where all they could talk about was Trump. I realize the left will try to use the racist claim over the next four years ad nauseum, but the overwhelming consensus there is joy that Trump is back in the oval office, and general dislike/distrust of Biden. They don’t buy the racist crap being spewed, and think Trump will do more to help them (and the world) by creating opportunity and economic expansion. The price increases over the past four years (which they solely blame Biden for) have caused a lot of strife and suffering here.
When y’all complain about how bad things are here, how rotten our system is, etc, I want you to take a step back and imagine a world where the biggest city in a country has power (electricity) to 30% of the people…and the rest of the country 6%. A place where giving a kid $5 for a homemade bracelet feeds the family for a week. An area where there is real corruption…(as we whine about it here), with people starving in the streets, yet a few taking billions of dollars and socking them away. This country is far from bad, with all its flaws, and we should all be working together to make it better.
Vic, welcome back; I’m sure the kids will be glad to see you. Your efforts to find new HHR subscribers was successful, as there are two more than when you left!

And why is Bannon calling Musk “truly evil”?
Because he supports the H1-B visas.
