“Of course, that resignation is just for the balance of his current term; he’s said nothing about the one to which he was just elected that starts in January.”
-And with that, Gaetz may already have shown that he could do the job.
Don’t forget that Ryano and Biden’s Beotch supported the Russian hoax. Gang of 8 idiots.
Keep in mind these squishy pasty ConInc types sat in complicit silence as Biden’s AG and DOJ systematically rounded up Americans, brought bogus charges, hauled them to a DC gulag awaiting trial on even nonviolent offenses, forced them in front of DC juries, and recommended…
Gaetz would have to deal with the liberal press, as well as conservatives and (most)Republicans who value the rule of law. If he steps out of line, and tries to pull the crap that Garland and his ilk have pulled the last 3+ years, he will be opposed vociferously from all sides.
I would add establishment politicians like Lisa Murkowski. Trump is basically choosing his own team to better implement the agenda he wants to put into place. He and his Chief of Staff feel they have a minimum of 2 years to get things done. In his first term he relied on others for suggestions to fill his administration. Now, he knows better…..
Democrat Congressman Jared Moskowitz tells the truth. ‘Matt Gaetz is fiercely competent and will be one of the most powerful attorney generals in American history.’
I think Gaetz nomination is an unforced error. There were other names more competent and less controversial who could have achieved anything Trump hopes to achieve with Gaetz. Probably more, because the DOJ is not a one man show.
His confirmation battle will be a big distraction that Trump doesn’t need. If he does get confirmed, his tenure will be a distraction Trump doesn’t need.
But we know Trump will be Trump.
This is a divisive pick, it will pit Rs against each other just like it is pitting HHR posters against each other.
Trump doesn’t see the value in a united party. He burned a lot of bridges in 2016 and it cost him later.
I don’t see HHR posters necessarily pitted against each other because of the AG nomination. People just have differences of opinion which is healthy to express. As for Gaetz, he will have an opportunity to excel or flop under questioning that is assured to be intense.
Im also confused by the pick. He’s really done a great job with the rest of his cabinet. I wish this had not been the pick, but I am happy to have him out of Congress
BTW to Walt – great suggestions. Bitter, DW and I have been talking about some changes coming down the pipe (or is it pike) soon, which will hopefully improve the experience and add posters heading into mid terms and the next crazy Presidential election.
I’m no Gaetz fan, but I can see the utility of having him atop DoJ were he actually confirmed; he’s a bulldog who hates the establishment, and even if he is shady, FDR put Joe Kennedy charge of the SEC with the idea that it was better to have a known crook monitoring the rest to keep them in line.
I won’t push for Gaetz to be confirmed, but if he is, I expect him to clean house and torment every last bureaucrat who sh*t all over the rule of law just to get Trump.
Possible have a bar across the top with various headings, like election predictions stats that DW put up and did an outstanding job on, current thread to post on, civil war, abortion, former posters goodbye GFY posts, etc. 🙂
“We get rid of him in Congress AND he doesn’t get confirmed.”
GF, a little bit earlier:
“Of course, that resignation is just for the balance of his current term; he’s said nothing about the one to which he was just elected that starts in January.”
one of the headings in the bar across the top could be “poems” by Walt and other posters. Another could be “jokes.” Another could be a “name decoder to use to understand Tina’s posts” and another could list the various “feuds of the past” between pairs of certain posters to help explain to new posters how each feud got started. And of course, dated “HHR Archives.”
I thought that Trump would have chosen Mike Lee (Utah) for AG….but, then again, I thought Trump would have had Nikki Haley out there campaigning for him the last two weeks or at least the final week but no-it didn’t happened.
Turns out that Trump really didn’t need Haley. Will the same come true for Gaetz.
“Of course, that resignation is just for the balance of his current term; he’s said nothing about the one to which he was just elected that starts in January.”
The confirmation will only take place during the new term. Unless Trump pulls the nomination, he won’t take his seat in January.
You COULD also have a section to click on that gives a description of each of the regular posters–so NEW posters could more easily get to know each and catch up.
I will offer my thumbnail description of myself:
“Walt is a very ancient, retired guy (most recently a former high school social studies teacher)–nobody is really sure of how many centuries this guy has seen and lived through. In his more recent past, he served in the WV legislature for 12 years. He enjoyed playing bridge, writing humorous poems, doing chores for his wife and trying to prevent fights from breaking out on HHR. Walt also has an imaginary pet cow that he talks with. Walt was the founding member of the now defunct H.O.B.O.s group on the old HHR site that preceded this one. Walt has written a book about what it was like growing up in a small town and has published it on Facebook.”

And Bitter’s thumbnail write up could be:
“Bitter is a practicing attorney in Philadelphia. He has written and published a book, “Run it Out”, and went to law school with Kelly Ayotte (former U,S. Senator and now governor-elect of NH). He is a founding member and president of the imaginary A-Hole group on HHR, and oversees the imaginary A-Hole club house in some secret imaginary location in Philadelphia. His most recent big success was rescuing the OLD HHR from the ashes and resurrecting it right here! Bitter has run unsuccessfully for the House of Representatives, battles diabetes, is unnecessarily riddled with guilt, hates the South, and hates to travel, and 90% of what he eats is hamburgers. He has a wry and dry sense of humor and he gives out GFYs like there is no tomorrow. Many other posters unfairly call him a RINO and pick fights with him constantly, and wrongly bad mouth him and say things like ‘he wears a sweaters’.”

Scooter’s biggest claim to fame is that he suggested Trump ride on a garbage truck (immediately after the Dems said Trump supporters were garbage)–which probably won Trump the 2024. election.”
*************************
Those are just SUGGERSTIONS for Bitter and Scooter. They should really write their own thumbnails.
And the rest of you all posting here should also do the same. You should also probably put in what state you live in….
It would not be fair of me to do the write-up of Paul or others.
Walt, just one correction on my thumbnail. I am not a Vet. Would you be comfortable sitting in a fox hole with me when it’s my turn for watch ???? Even an elephant could sneak up on me !!!!
Tina, good deal with Patel. Trump has personally experienced what it is like to be on the business end of politicized law enforcement. I would imagine that cleaning out that rot (of course, these are just isolated incidents, according to The Ostriches, not coordinated in any way) extremely important to him. I wish him luck.
Looks like minimal pushback from Rs in the Senste about confirming Gaetz. (Costa reports).
If true, we only have the Maine Chicklet and the fake R Senator from Ak. We shall see about Goober but it seems like Trump “cleared” this with Buffone.
Fixing the fib and doj are Herculean tasks. I would be for cutting most of the fib; closing the Dc Circuit court of corruption; and having unjustice spread out of DC.
I am opppsed to this. The way you deal with MSM lies is exposing their lies and putting the truth out there. These proposals should be tossed as violating the First Amendment if they became law or through EOs.
Let’s do nothing to address the dozens of “isolated” incidents of politically motivated investigations and prosecutions at the FBI and DOJ because Bitter thinks that by doing so, it will destroy all ability to fight crime. Laughable.
The American public does not want the “can’t we all just get along” crap you and your friends have tried to shove down their throats for several decades.
Terrorists, murderers, kidnappers, counterfeiters, drug lords, serial killers, smugglers, gun runners, arsonists, embezzlers, bank robbers, etc. will be sending notes of thanks to Tina and Chicon for their support.
Very deserved, actually.
Their ideas on the FBI and DOJ are as stupid and asinine as the “Defund the Police” idiocy, not an iota of difference.
Hey, look, the other scared ostrich has arrived! OMG, driving out all the hacks in the FBI and DOJ who uses their functions for political purposes will mean there is no law enforcement!!! We’ll all be in danger!! We’re SCARED!!
The View is back on HHR! Pearl clutching and The Vapors abound!!
Much to the amazement (and consternation?) of some here, Trump is who he’s been for years. And he was elected, anyway. Now Trump is acting like Trump, and some here are acting as shocked and appalled as Joy Reid, Whoopie, and Schift for Brains. I love this place.
The “advocating to get politics out of the DOJ and FBI means you are pro-crime” vapidness reminds me of Barack saying “if you’re against my positions you must be racist”
As usual there is a compromise in the middle. I understand Trump-ites want to get rid of the DOJ, FBI, DOE, etc etc etc but that is neither tenable, nor prudent.
A paring back of the DOJ and FBI to ensure that they truly impartial organizations who are true to their mission should be accomplished, it should not however, be subjects of retribution and dismantled because a few went after Trump.
I hope we get old Thune, the guy that beat Daschle. And not buffone.
“New GOP Senate Majority Leader John Thune says it’s time to “check the bureaucratic machine” by “taking a HATCHET to the regulatory apparatus.” “Starting with the 1,000 Biden-Harris regulations that have cost Americans nearly $2 trillion.” “I will work every day to serve my colleagues and to advance President Trump’s agenda.”
Vic, wtf is this middle ground of which you speak?
I agree that the cleansing should only reach those who participated in political persecutions. Those who orchestrated these events (and I don’t just mean the cases against Trump) should be gone, with civil and criminal repercussions if warranted. It has to hurt enough to dissuade future shenanigans.
Bitter, over at FEMA, there appears to have been a program to skip Trump houses for help. Not just one person – it was policy, according to the women fired.
I would say that anyone who was part of the implementation of this policy should be fired, and stripped of pensions, etc. Criminal charges, too, if applicable.
If you’re to be consistent, we can’t do that because we won’t be able to help victims of natural disasters ever again.
Middle Ground means get rid of largess. Get rid of embedded Bureaucrats who are not there to fulfill the original mission, but to ensure they last until their pensions are secured.
It does mean identify what I believe will be a small group, who weaponized the DOJ and FBI for their personal beliefs. I do not believe a vast majority of either agency falls into that category. I do believe that both are grossly overstaffed. The FBI for instance. I bet with 70% of the current staff, filled with dedicated professionals who take their job and oath seriously, could do the job as well, if not better, than the currently staffed number.
A paring back of the DOJ and FBI to ensure that they truly impartial organizations who are true to their mission should be accomplished, it should not however, be subjects of retribution and dismantled because a few went after Trump.
That is not good for Americans, right or left”
Of course not.
But despite all the idiotic “get rid of the FBI” garbage, it’s not going to happen.
But the fact so called “conservatives” are calling for curtailing law enforcement because some people “went after Trump” is probably a good reason Gaetz should not be AG.
Republicans used to be the party of law and order. I guess we can throw away that conservative principle too because somehow it doesn’t fit the Trump agenda.
Anyway, he’ll eventually say he was always for cleaning out the garbage at the FBI & DOJ.
Not eventually.
I have always said that.
Nobody has been more critical of the educational system turning out hundreds of thousands of Marxist a year into all facets of society, including government, the corporate world and even the military.
The leadership (and even rank and file) of these government agencies reflect that ideology and the ideology of those who appoint them.
But that is not Deep State, there is no secret cabal or government within the government or any of that absolute trash Chicon, Janzam, Tina, NYC, etc. believe in. If there was, it is the worst kept secret in the history of “secret” societies. Unmitigated drivel.
These agencies should be depoliticized as much as possible. There was a time the FBI and the CIA and DNI etc. were not “left” or “right”.
But defunding law enforcement, cutbacks, and all the rest of this deadender trash is just advocating for the exact same thing the left is guilty of.
The deadenders want to defund law enforcement as vengeance for the lawfare Trump has suffered.
As I stated above, the stupidity of that cannot be overstated.
YOu got Trump to go ride in a garbage truck, so I guess you have a somde pull. Can you PLEASE tell Trump to STOP picking sitting congressmen and senators to serve in his cabinet.

(5%) A. VALIDATION OF TRUMP, support of Trump as a person; repudiating of the political motivated lawfare tactics used to try to take down Trump; validates that the 2020 election WAS stolen from Trump (TRUMP’S VIEW)
(30%)B. REPUDIATION OF DEMOCRATS failed policies, actions, agenda and performance of last 4 years: Not a big fan of erratic Trump, but the other side is crazy–and at least Trump supports more sensible policies than Kamala does.
(30%) C. BAD ECONOMY. Voters chose Trump primarily because of the bad economy and people were worse off after 4 years of Biden and the Ds (jobs, inflation, emotion of savings due to inflation, energy prices, taxes, etc.)
(30%) D. ILLEGAL ALIENS/OPEN BORDERS. and all that ushered in–ignoring constitution and laws, crime, failure of illegals to assimilate into American culture, lots of fed, states and local $$$ being spent to house, feed, transport, clothe, provide healthcare, education etc. for the 9 to 11 million illegals at the expense of providing what was needed to real Americans and creating BIG problems in providing health care, education, and negative impact on U.S. communities
(5%) E. TRUMP WAS THE LESSER OF TWO BAD CANDIDATES and the voters were personally turned off by both candidates. But at least Trump did have a good deal of success in his term as president–until CROVID hit.
(0)%F. TRUMP WON BECAUSE MOST VOTERS ARE RACIST MISOGYNISTSWHO WANT TO OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT, SEIZE POWER, CANCEL ALL FUTURE ELECTIONS, PUT POLITICAL OPPONENTS IN JAIL OR REEDUCATION CAMPS

That is not good for Americans, right or left.

POLL QUESTION (from me)
*****************************
There are different views of why people elected Trump. How many people here–and how many Americans–fall into each category below as to why they voted for Trump?
What as the MAIN reason?
Or at the very LEAST, what is YOUR % of each the following is why people voted to elect Trump.
(5%) A. VALIDATION OF TRUMP, support of Trump as a person; repudiating of the political motivated lawfare tactics used to try to take down Trump; validates that the 2020 election WAS stolen from Trump (TRUMP’S VIEW)
(0)% F. TRUMP WON BECAUSE MOST VOTERS ARE RACIST MISOGYNISTS WHO WANT TO OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT, SEIZE POWER, CANCEL ALL FUTURE ELECTIONS, PUT POLITICAL OPPONENTS IN JAIL OR REEDUCATION CAMPS
“F” is the view of “THE VIEW” and LOTS of the far left)
