The most devastating and consequential interview I’ve ever seen a presidential candidate give is when Al Gore sat down with Tim Russert (NBC once resembled a news outlet) in 2000 and Russert took Al Gore apart.
This Bret Baier / Kamala interview is much, much worse.
Holy moly. No gotcha questions. Every question was easy to predict (this is not a criticism of Baier, who was great) and she still blew it.

The full Baier-Harris interview is posted on citizens free press. I watched it on their link, and was pleasantly surprised at how much Baier attempted to follow through and/or rebutt her “let me be clear” fuzzy responses. To me she looked prickly, tried to act like the last almost 4 years were Trump’s fault, gave no cogent policy answers, and came away as a dismal human being caught up in undeserving self importance. It was an interview that will stick negatively with people, IMO.

The most comical part of the interview was when Harris started yelling about “democracy,” how Trump would lock people up who didn’t agree with him if elected. Isn’t that what the Dems have been doing the last 4 years, going after Trump advisors, lawyers, electors, indicting people, bleeding out their assets , misusing the legal system to either silence or take out people opposing their agenda?

Here’s my last comment of the night regarding the Fox/Harris interview because I won’t to watch the Mets/Dodgers game….
Kamala Harris suffers from TDS-bigly. Trump resides rent free in her head. And here I thought it was the opposite especially during the debate.
CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC and MSNBC have got to be in complete shot at the interview. The clock just ran out on Cinderalla.

(pretty much a quote)
Kamala did very well…she was willing, unlike Trump, to go to the TV station of her opponent to do an interview. Trump would never go for a live interview on the other stations. And he added, “it is Kamala who wants to close the border, and Trump and the Republicans who favor open southern border.”

Good analysis by Sean Trende, who is critical of both Walz and Vance as VP picks.
His reasons why. I highlighted the points I have made here myself.
“Walz still doesn’t seem to have delivered any of this. The polling in Minnesota is roughly where it was prior to the Walz pick. This means that Harris-Walz will carry the state, but Democrats were already poised to do that. Republicans haven’t won Minnesota since 1972. If they win it this cycle, the election is already over.
Moreover, there’s an opportunity cost here. Pennsylvania has continued to be the state with the closest polling. There is a charismatic, popular governor of the state who was passed over for the nod. Vice-presidential picks can’t do much, but they can move a state a point or so. In Pennsylvania, that difference appears to be meaningful.
What about Vance? He seems to have done his job, debating Walz skillfully and carrying the MAGA flag. But he also doesn’t seem to have energized voters beyond the party faithful. Post-assassination attempts, I don’t think GOP turnout could be juiced any further. If anything, some of the baggage gathered from his 2022 Senate race turned some voters away. Once again, there’s an opportunity cost: Candidates like Marco Rubio or Glenn Youngkin might have put other states in play, or reassured wavering suburbanites.
Vance’s debate performance was impressive, and suggested that he might fulfill Trump’s presumed intentions for him: to be the MAGA heir-apparent after Trump is gone. He may prove to be the elusive “Trumpism without Trump” candidate. But for that to matter, Trump has to win the election. And Vance likely didn’t help make that happen.“

Kamala didn’t want a live interview then started the taped interview almost 20 minutes late before her aides cut it short. And despite their game playing and the pressure on Baier, Kamala still imploded.

ok I watched it. I don’t think she did horribly at the beginning, and diverted attention away from her record with the border bill and kept hammering that. She did not refuse to say sorry to the parents of the murdered girl, she said she was sorry. She seemed sincere.
then the interview went off the rails. She evaded every single question and tried to turn it into a campaign rally. She lied about Biden’s mental health, and just kept with her attacks against Trump. She didn’t give a voter a reason to vote for her except Orange man bad.
I don’t think it was as bad as some think and it will please Kamala supporters because she talked back to the “man.”
it will not get one indie voter to her side. She’s not ready to be President. Not even close.

The reason they didn’t get to the economy is because it was the next question. Regardless, we all know how the question would have ended, it was donald Trump’s fault.
She is running solely on not being Donald Trump and hoping its enough. She can’t run on her record, as she showed tonight. She was doing ok on immigration until she said that those woman would be alive if they had passed the awful immigration bill that six democrats voted against, but then Baier caught her and said that they happened in the first three years. it was downhill from there.
Look, at this point the election is about donald Trump and Trump alone. Either you believe you were better off when he was President, and that’s enough to overlook questions you have about him, or you hate him and will vote for the single most unqualified candidate for President that I can remember…and I have wracked my brain trying to find one…TBH, even the gentlemen running against FDR who lost were still more qualified the she is. Hoover was more qualified.
Hell, even Eugene Debs was more qualified…Buchanan??? He was inept because he did nothing to stop the Civil War.

Takeaways from Harris interview with Baier:
(you can see how fair and balanced this reporter is)
>>>>>>>>>>>
“…During one exchange, Baier played portions of a Trump campaign ad that sharply criticizes Harris over her past support for using taxpayer funds for gender-affirming surgery for transgender inmates, including those who are undocumented.
When asked by Baier if she still supported the idea, Harris said, “I will follow the law.”
“It’s actually a law Donald Trump followed,” she added. “Under Donald Trump’s administration, these surgeries were available to — on a medically necessary basis — to people in the federal prison system. And I think that ad from the Trump campaign is a little bit of throwing stones when you live in a glass house.”
The federal law has been in effect since February 2018. While the Trump administration stiffened treatment guidelines previously set by the Obama administration for who is eligible for transgender surgery, it remained available during Trump’s presidency.
Baier pointed out that “Trump aides” have said that no surgeries happened during his presidency, which is true — the first operation was in 2022. Still, Harris shot back that Trump was trying to scare voters with the ad.
“[Trump] spent $20 million on those ads trying to create a sense of fear in the voters because he actually has no plan in this election that is about focusing on the needs of the American people,” Harris said.”

“Harris calls out Baier for playing misleading Trump clip
After mentioning that Trump and Harris are neck and neck in the polls, Baier asked Harris whether she thinks the 50% of Americans siding with Trump are “misguided” or “stupid.”
“I would never say that about the American people,” Harris replied. “In fact, if you listen to Donald Trump, if you watch any of his rallies, he’s the one who tends to demean and belittle and diminish the American people. He’s the one who talks about an ‘enemy within.’”
Baier followed up, saying Fox News host Harris Faulkner asked Trump about that particular quote during a town hall that aired on the network earlier Wednesday. He then played a clip of Trump responding to Faulkner, saying, “I’m not threatening anybody.”
“Bret, I’m sorry, and with all due respect: That clip is not what he has been saying about the ‘enemy within’ that he has repeated when he is speaking about the American people,” Harris said after the video played. “That’s not what you just showed.”
“He has repeated it many times, and you and I both know that,” she continued. “You and I both know that he has talked about turning the American military on the American people.”

“A Harris presidency ‘will not be a continuation of Joe Biden’s’
Baier played clips from two of Harris’s recent interviews where she’s asked about what she’ll do differently from the Biden administration, including an Oct. 8 interview on The View during which she responded, “There is not a thing that comes to mind.”
On Wednesday, Harris was more forceful in distancing herself from Biden.
“Let me be very clear: My presidency will not be a continuation of Joe Biden’s presidency,” Harris told Baier. “Like every new president that comes into office, I will bring my life experiences, my professional experiences, and fresh and new ideas. I represent a new generation of leadership.”
Baier also pressed Harris about her previous advocacy for Biden’s mental fitness for office before he ended his reelection campaign. Harris reiterated that Biden has the “judgment” and “experience” to be president and then turned the question around to be about Trump.
“Joe Biden is not on the ballot, Donald Trump is,” she said. “He’s unfit to serve. He’s unstable. He’s dangerous. And people are exhausted.” “

“JD Vance says Trump did not lose the 2020 US election

(Reuters) – After dodging the issue for weeks, Republican vice-presidential candidate JD Vance said unequivocally on Wednesday he believes false claims that Donald Trump did not lose the 2020 election.
Taking questions from reporters at a campaign event in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Vance was again asked if Trump lost to President Joe Biden four years ago.
“On the election of 2020, I’ve answered this question directly a million times. No! I think there are serious problems in 2020,” Vance said. “So, did Donald Trump lose the election in 2020? Not by the words that I would use.”

One detail about Trump’s 2 divorces is that he remained cordial with both Ex wives, and continued to engage in his fatherly responsibilities after both marriages ended. He also seems to have good relationships with his adult children after they were grown, as well as being an attentive grandfather figure to their children. I would say those were positive outcomes that many intact, one-time marriages don’t achieve.

Vance has repeatedly answered that 2020 election question, even as far back as 2022 during his senatorial campaign. Mostly his answer has hinged on the obfuscation and misinformation, supported by the press and tech companies, that Hunter Biden’s lap top was Russian interference and not legitimate. Afterwards, it was estimated at least 10% of those voting for Biden would not have done so if they had known the truth about Hunter and his lap top. Misleading the public on just this one factor alone, percentage wise, cost Trump the election, by Vance’s calculation.
