As we just saw, it took three Wall Street Journal reporters —David Uberti, Justin Lahart, and Aaron Zitner— to discover, weeks before the midterms, that gas, mortgages, and dinner out (“almost everything”) still cost money. What the trio of reporters somehow could not find room for, in a newspaper that sheds charts the way other people shed carbon dioxide, was the rest of the dashboard. Our first omitted example appeared in Wednesday’s Investing Live, which reported, “Atlanta Fed GDPNow estimate for Q3 growth jumps to 5.1% from 4.4%.”
5.1% growth is a lot. On Laura Ingraham’s show, Larry Kudlow called it an economic boom. Retail sales are running around 6%, business investment in machinery, equipment, and data centers is up over 20%, productivity is up about 3% a year for almost two years running. It’s the kind of revolutionary clip America has not seen since the boom of the Reagan ’80s, which was itself historic, and which rewrote economic textbooks about what was considered possible to achieve through government policy.
Then came the Census Bureau, announcing even more shattered records. On Tuesday, the agency announced that real median household income hit $87,460— up +2.6%, reaching the highest on record since 1967. Not only that, but the official poverty rate fell half a point to 10.2%. Reuters, not exactly a Trump Super PAC, headlined it as the lowest poverty rate on record.”

When higher education becomes 100% “pure”, as per the Ivy League study, then that goal has been achieved.

Poli Sci literature is chock full of studies showing that voters, while obviously caring about their own circumstances, vote broadly on their perception of what their neighbors are enduring. They can be fully employed and otherwise doing fine, but if they think the country is slipping into recession (or any other economic stress), they will take it out on the incumbent party regardless of a) actual good economic news, and b) their own finances steadily gaining ground. This is especially true amongst the middle class in the suburbs.

And most people think the price of groceries and gas are too high.
That is 95% of the media narrative at the moment, and most people still get their news form MSM sources.
That is why I think a blue wave is entirely possible. These things tend to move in tandem.
I think OH, ME, NC, and AK are definitely in play. A wave could topple TX because Rs have a weak candidate. I think IA and KS are safe. I think Halperin is probably counting NE as his 9, but I don’t think Osborn wins.
AK is an inexpensive market, I would spend big bucks there and in MI and NH, flip one of those and the Dem road to a majority becomes much harder.

There was some improvement in the generic ballot numbers. The average of recent polls among all pollsters dropped to D+6.7 but when limited to pollsters with a historic track record of doing generic ballots, the gap is down to D+5.1. If its D+5 we can hold the senate and have a small deficit in the house.

There are stories of people fleeing to Belarus to escape Zelenskyy’s tyranny. Protestors are imprisoned. Free speech and a free press are gone. Aid money is often not accounted for. Supposedly, there is no more money to pay soldiers. Yes, Putin and his regime is ruthless. But, so is Zelenskyy, and you guys are in a total state of denial about it, which is why it’s important to include posts by Ukrainians, closer to what is going on there, about the ongoing corruption and atrocities committed by the elites and inner Zelenskyy circle.
