WA-3 with GOP edge

This would be a flip to the GOP, and there are now two polls of this race showing a GOP lead. This is exactly the sort of seat we would expect NOT to flip if there was a building Dem wave election. Take note that even though this was Emerson, they were hired by a far left org called Northwest Progressive Institute.

🟥 John Braun: 45%

🟦 Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (inc): 44%

Emerson | 7/8-10 | ±4.4%

“U.S. Sen. Dave McCormick has released the full agenda and speaker lineup for the 2026 Pennsylvania Defense and Innovation Summit, set for July 14-15 at the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, with President Donald Trump headlining the event.

The two-day summit will bring together senior government officials, military leaders and executives from the defense, technology and finance sectors. McCormick’s office said major investment and partnership announcements are expected.

According to McCormick’s office, Trump is scheduled to speak July 15.

Other announced government and military speakers include Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, Air Force Secretary Troy Meink and Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday.

The lineup also features prominent business leaders, including JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, Lockheed Martin CEO James Taiclet, Northrop Grumman CEO Kathy Warden, General Dynamics CEO Phebe N. Novakovic and Arm CEO Rene Haas.

Notably absent from the lineup is important Bitterville business leader Jason Yupanqui who regrettably had a prior engagement”

  6. From RRH, highlighting the sort of quality candidates rising from within the Democratic Party:

“Kirill Basin (D), who has been mounting a long-shot challenge to Rep. Jill Tokuda (D) in this seat covering all of Hawaii outside urban Honolulu, brought a gun into a local government building on Maui and brandished it during an argument with county workers. Basin was arrested and charged with making terroristic threats.”

  10. DW,

on Facebook, there is a sight called Sketch Gregg. On July 12, 2026 they have a video of a 9 year old boy out of control in a public school. Below is a link to that. Please view and see what the public schools have to deal with.

My wife had one of these kids she had to deal with in FIRST GRADE in her 45th year of teaching and my wife would come home with bruises from being kicked and punched during his rampages, how emotionally draining it was, how the rest of the 1st grade class had to be removed, how the local police had to bee called…

I know I got inn trouble and could not post for a while because the HHR automatic sensors did not like Facebook posts.

So if this post with a Facebook link causes trouble, just delete it and people here can go to Facebook, Sketchy Greg, July 12 and view it to see how bad it is now in public schools.

  11. Walt, we are a nation where the inmates run the asylum. Back when I was a kid, anybody behave anywhere close to that was hauled off to the principal’s office where the principal would drop the kid’s drawers and deliver a whooping to correct the behavior, and then send a note home with the kid so the parents could deliver a second whooping.

What is seen in that video is NOT societal progress.

  13. My wife was an extraordinary teacher throughout her career. She graduated #2 in hierarchy HS class, was a McMurran Scholar at Shepherd University.

She was outstanding young Educator early in her career, Jefferson county teacher of the year toward the end of her career. Had student who was deaf out into her first grade class, so she went to take classes to learn sign language so she could communicate with her, had blind students on her regular 1st grade class, had albino AA students, students with a wide range of behavioral disorders and hoir long oitbursts of a 6 year old turning over desks and wrecking the classroom, had first graders who were not potty trained and had to deal with all that, had students who she suspected of being sexual abused by parents (and they were) and reported that to principal and police and got involved, yet… loved teaching and loved all of her students. Even those who did not deserve to be loved…

The issues I dealt with in teaching high school for 34 years pale by comparison to what my wife dealth with.

Most people today have no clue of what challenges a public school teacher is faced with these days.

  14. DW,

From about 1980 to when I retired from teaching in 2003, I witnessed the erosion of teacher authority, erosion of good parenting, and the slippery slide of removing of consequences for bad student behavior.

    –could not administer corporal punishment

    –could not TOUCH a kid

–could not keep unruly student in at part of their lunch

–could not dock students grades for excessive tardiness to class

–could not dock students grades for skipping class

–could not give zero on work missed because the student skipped school

–could not take points off for homework etc. that was turned in late by student

–weakening of the grade point system and what was an A, B, etc. to where 60 was a D and passing.

–teachers directed to give no grade lower than 50 on any test, etc.including a major requured paper that was never turned in

–teachers getting in trouble if “too many” kids failed in one class despite massive documentation of fairness of teacher

–pressure from principal and school board to have no stude t get a failing mark

–kids who were missing 85 to 90 days of 180 day school year and failing miserably and teacher getting pressure to pass these kids

–administrators changing final student grade of F to a passing grade

–car loads of middle school kids who were in the 7th grade and failed several years but 16 years old being transferred in Sept. to the high school and enrolled in 9th grade despite not passing 7th or 8th grade. Some not passing ANY 7TH OR 8TH grade classes.

We spend decades teaching kids and parents the wrong lessons of life…and reaping the whirlwind.

  15. Yep, and Walt, all of this that you posted is the argument for private schools where sanity still prevails. To get kids enrolled, the parents have to sign off and agree to terms of sanity.

Halfway through it now. It is good, but a more compelling story of how the Quaker pastor “Sam” had developed depression and doubts about God due to the actions of the pack of flawed people who make up his congregation in his small town

A number of underlying human interest subplots are sprinkled heavily throughout his chapters….like the struggles of the couple who won the $5 MM LOTTERY are still being torn as to whether to accept the ga.blong winnings or not in the midst of various strife that comes their way…or whether the nice guy who’s wife ran off with a trucker a year ago will get back together with his wife for the sake of their 3 toing kids or whether he will press forth with his new budding romance with the beautiful, down to earth, sweet as pie, single lawyer woman who he admires so…and whether some of his flock ever come to their senses and recant their selfish and un- Christian ways…

    Still lots of humor…
