I would be interested in what Admiral Cooper really thinks about the practicality of our military’s ability to clear the strait. I know he can’t say much about it in an open public hearing. I’m guessing the pentagon doesn’t think they can do it. I have to believe that if they could it would already have been done. After all, it’s the only leverage Iran has got, and you’d naturally want to take that card away from them.
Very frustrating.

Perhaps, Phil, though my two decades in the Navy (much of it spent in that body of water) tell me otherwise. Trump has apparently gotten XI to agree that Iran must not be a nuclear power, China will not deliver weapons to Iran, and that the Straits need to be open, with China willing to help in that endeavour. We’ll see what that materializes into.

DW, I don’t see a SCOTUS decision at that link, the last line is this;
”SCOTUS has yet to respond to Virginia Democrats’ request. Notably, there is currently a 6-to-3 Republican majority among SCOTUS justices.”
FTR, I expect the appeal to be tossed, little precedent for SCOTUS to overturn a state supreme court in a state controlled matter.
