Well, the last three generic ballot polls show D+2 (Forbes/HarrisX), D+3 (Economist/YouGov) and D+3 (Morning Consult). That, along with TN, LA, and FL flipping 6 seats (a swing in numbers of 12) explains why it went from D+21 down to D+5.

The night is so far proving to be one of substantial success for Reform. They are currently winning more than half of the seats that have been declared.
In contrast, Labour, who have been defending most seats this evening, have lost four in five of the seats that they have been trying to defend.
These figures reflect the fact that in the key wards where the BBC have collected detailed voting information, so far Reform have been averaging around 30% of the vote, whereas Labour have so far won just 16% of the vote.
The other challenger party, the Greens, are performing creditably; their average of 15% of the vote is up 10 points on average compared to 2022. However, it is not enough for them to be picking more than the occasional gain. So far, just a net gain of eight seats.
The Conservatives are also losing ground; their vote is on average down by 14 points and the party is losing more than half the seats it is trying to defend.
The Liberal Democrats’ hopes of making notable net gains of seats are not being realised.
So far, the party has seen little change in its net tally. Moreover, the party’s share of the vote is down on average by 5 points since 2022, a drop that is shielded by the fact it is less than the drop of the Conservatives and Labour.

Regarding VA SC ruling….I’ve heard it has energized the grass roots conservatives everywhere. It has given them a pulse, where if enough push and effort is exercised they can compete with the Dems unorthodox ways of creating wins. Even though the ruling was based on the unconstitutional methods applied in the VA referendum, the fact the grass roots “Nos” came so close to winning, with just a fraction of the money the “yes” side had, has given credence and energy to non-establishment groups to take a stand and be more aggressive in their efforts to win. I think that is an overly negative assessment. We don’t know what intelligence Trump has regarding the internal situation in Iran, it could be that there is intelligence indicating there might be a faction of the government that does want a deal, it could be that the blockade is causing more internal strife than we know.
“Launching of drones” could just be that the Iranian control or command is so damaged that independent commanders on the ground are launching on their own, so far it seems sporadic and isolated and not part of any concerted attack.
I think the theory that Trump is somehow being hoodwinked by the Iranians has not basis in fact. If he had been hoodwinked by the Iranians he wouldn’t have launched the attack in the first place.

Putin says the war is coming to an end? I will believe it when I see it. He has had no problem whatsoever throwing tens of thousands of his soldiers into the meatgrinder. “
But what has it got him? He has not even taken over the entire Donbas yet, although he did gain territory in the south.
The Russians stopped gaining ground, the Ukrainian drone capability is markedly increased and is consistently damaging installations in Russia itself.
It could be he has decided he will just keep the territory he managed to gain and call it a win. He could always invade again later if the conditions are right.
Again, Putin did not invade Ukraine to capture the Donbas or “protect Russian speakers” or “keep Ukraine from joining NATO”. That is all for internal consumption and for his sycophantic admirers like Tina, Janzam and Chicon.
He invaded in order to annex Ukraine, install a puppet government, and benefit from Ukraine’s vast labor, mineral, and agricultural resources.
Thanks to Ukrainian patriot and hero Zelensky and the aid Ukraine got from the US and the other Western countries, that did not happen.

Yep. Putin hasn’t gained anything but a weakened military and economy. Any other rational person would have cut their losses by now. This guy is simply delusional to the point of insanity.

The Ukraine was has cost Russia approximately $2.5 trillion as of March 2026 for the past four years. Their GDP is approximately $2.7 trillion a year. The war is just not sustainable for Russia. You don’t have to be in Kremlin to do the math.
By comparison, the Iraq war lasted close to 9 years and cost anywhere between $1.9 and $2.2 trillion.

If Janzam wasn’t on suicide watch she would correct you and tell you the right term is “The War on Russia” or “Zelensky’s War”.

The war is sustainable politically because it is a one party state where he is able to crush any opposition to the war. So the human cost is irrelevant to Putin.
However, the economic cost is another story.

Rememberiing the US GDP is like 12 times that of Russa. The Russian economy is roughly on a part with Texas.

Well, Trump finally got his latest answer from Iran. That’s been three days we will never get back. Here it is:
*Refusal to dismantle their nuclear program but MIGHT be willing to TALK about their enriched uranium AFTER we lifted our blockade*.
“Might be willing to talk” That’s rich. Lift the blockade strangling their economy in return for them agreeing to talk to us. Oh, yeah, let’s for sure jump on that. If you didn’t know better you’d think it was they who had wiped out OUR military and were strangling OUR economy. Sheesh
Seriously, can we finally quit wasting time tooling around with these fanatics??
Finish them, Mr President. You can’t negotiate with a side that doesn’t seriously intend to negotiate. Hasn’t that been proven over and over for the last two months? Hell, hasn’t it been proven over the last 47 years??
Get on with it, Mr President. Finish them!

Phil, I seriously doubt Trump will make any major moves with Iran until he has completed his trip visiting with Xi in China – May 14-15.

Here’s an optimistic appraisal of how the dem party seems to be sinking into oblivion:
”The Democrat party is facing such a host of seemingly intractable problems — structural, financial, legal, and ideological — that it will be close to a miracle if it survives after this year’s midterms. The below-deck shuffles — encouraging illegal alien votes, manipulating the census, making crooked voting almost impossible to check, and stuffing their pockets with illegal contributions through ActBlue and pay-to-play schemes of USAID and NGOs — are all suddenly being exposed and blocked.”

Not so sure. The problem is these extreme positions have a lot of support. It is unfortunate but true.
The Marxist educational system has come home to roost.
Do you see ONE elected Democrat really coming out against these extreme positions?

I rest my case.
Ever since Gov. Janet Mills dropped out of the Maine Democrat primary race, Graham Platner — Nazi-tattooed, self-described “Antifa supersoldier” and Hamas enthusiast — has reportedly been raising a considerable amount of money. Bangor Daily News reported this week, “Graham Platner has raised $1.5M since Janet Mills ended her US Senate campaign.”

janzam, I think you are right, but I’m actually not expecting him to make any moves period. My prediction is that the Iranians will continue to stall and Trump will, bottom line, ultimately end up lifting the blockade in exchange for some worthless commitment from them. He’ll then try to tell us the problem has been solved.
All the bombing Trump off and on has threatened since the ceasefire has always been a bluff, and the Iranians obviously pretty much believe its a bluff. It’s why they continue to give us nothing. You can only draw a bright red line and allow it to be crossed once before you lose credibility. He’s now allowed them to cross that line multiple times now. They will simply sit tight. Their people will suffer, but they don’t give a shit.

The Democratic Party recognizes no restraints on amything as far as our institutions are concerned. There are no restraints when it comes to gaining power. Don’t like the Va Supreme Court ruling on redistricting? No problem. Dissolve the VSC and replace all the justices with their hacks. No problem. They don’t care.

I assume the current status quo with Iran will become the new normal and Trump will call it a “win”.
