Just a postscript on that issue with Miami OH. I don’t think the whole thing is that big of deal, I was just expressing surprise that they got an at-large bid, given the last 20 years and the strong priority the selection committee has placed on strength of schedule.
In the past when teams have tested the committee this way, they flunked and ended up in the NIT.
But look at the other end of it, teams who were at the top of the strength of schedule metric. Consider Alabama who were 24-9 prior to the start of the tournament. They got a #4 seed. Their November-December schedule included these teams, with tourney seeding shown, and L or W for Alabama getting a win or loss: 1-Arizona (L), 2-Purdue (L), 3-Illinois (W), 3-Gonzaga (L), 5-St. Johns (W). Four of these five made it through to the sweet 16, as did Alabama. Alabama also played major conference teams Clemson and Maryland.
Had Alabama played an easy non-conference schedule they would have been 27-6, but still deserving of only a #4 seed and their players wouldn’t have been quite as well toughened and matured. Strength of Schedule is good for the game, its good for the players and the fans.
I just think that in the case of Miami OH too many on the committee went soft at the thought of denying a team that went 32-0 only to fail at the very end. But had they dug into their record and their metrics, they could have seen how easily had the ball bounced a different way, they could have been as bad as 25-7. They played 7 games that were decided by just one bucket, with two in overtime. They were very fortunate to come out on top in all seven. That is nothing other than a statistical anomaly. I saw a guy roll a single die seven times in a row and it landed on six every time.
But the emotion of seeing a team at 32-0 go 32-1 and be denied an at large bid was just too much for the committee. We will see if next year other teams step up to challenge the Strength of Schedule metric again, now that they caved and let Miami OH in.

DW – I understand what you are saying. However, overall record is not a perfect measure of success, either. Villanova routinely schedules Lafayette (D 1 school with 2.500 students) to get a guaranteed W. All of the majors pad their schedule with similar opponents.

Sure, they do a little padding of schedule, but it used to be A LOT prior to their emphasis on strength of schedule in tournament selection and seeding. I totally agree that overall record is not necessarily a measure of success.

I am debating my next bet. Should I stick with St Johns, they will be big underdogs against Duke.
Iowa is the #9 seed, beat UF, could be some money there against Nebraska.
Alabama against Michigan?
I think at least one of these underdogs will prevail, but which one.

Let’s get real, at best MIami OH should have been in the NIT.
Not that they would have done any better there either.

BTW, an expert on voting lays out the flood of millions of illegal into U.S. and how they can easily get drivers licenses and theat in many states automatically registers you to vote, and they when you get a mail in ballot to you, you therefore think you DO have right to vote, so you do. YOU HAVE NOT BROKEN THE LAW AND CANNOT BE PUNISHED FOR VOTING BECAUSE YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD THE RIGHT TO VOTE since they .ailed you a ballot.

Trump is no more or less presidential than the overwhelmingly number of other Presidents.
What happens is that Trump is attacked more viciously and has been subject to more legal abuse than any other President, and he responds in kind.
For example, his comment that he is glad Robert Mueller died? Normally I would think that is classless, but in the context of how much Mueller damaged Trump’s presidency with his Russia hoax “investigation” I don’t really blame him.

Huh, no.
Thinking you have the right to commit a crime does not give you the right to commit a crime.
Frankly, I bet 99% of illegals who vote KNOW they are not allowed to vote.
But I agree with you that granting of driver’s licenses to illegals and subsequently making it possible for them to get other benefits they are not entitled to, including voting, is a huge problem.

Or false.
I think after JFK the standard of what is “Presidential” evolved significantly.
I think Trump respects the office of the Presidency a lot more than Clinton or JFK did. Or Obama for that matter.

Nah, I will never be admitted to the Cult because I have profound differences with several of Trump’s policies including trade, Ukraine, NATO, birthright citizenship, etc. and I will never acknowledge him as a conservative.
