Great Britain already made “security guarantees” to Ukraine.

This is all so sad for Reagan conservatives. Democrats may suck in many, many ways, but there seems to be no place left in the Republican Party for anybody who is pro-freedom and believes in peace through strength. Many who voted for Trump the last time are already beginning to come to this realization.
“Unfortunately sometimes the bad guys don’t get punished.”
-Putin waited for Trump to leave office, then acted. He has a pretty good “hand” right now. Trump is trying to get Zelenskyy a better hand, but is being rebuffed. Zelenskyy thought it better to go with a royal flush-it-down-the-toilet(Great Britain) instead of using his Trump-card (mining deal with USA(merica)).
Maybe more of you think Great Britain will provide “security guarantees” to Ukraine? Yay or Nay?
Why is Russia not being asked to stop the killing? Why does Russia continue to attack Ukraine on a daily basis without a word of criticism from the United States? Why is the United States moving to end deterrence on Russia’s ability to conduct cyber-warfare, even against us?
There was never supposed to be a deal. Zelenskyy went to the White House to sign a deal, before, during, and after the cameras were rolling. The Trump White House never gave him a deal to sign because they had no intention of ever having him sign a deal. It was all about setting him up to become the bad guy. Why?

-You got it backwards.
A minerals deal with the USA(merica) is absolutely peace through strength. And pro-freedom.
Anything else will need either endless supplie$$ of weapons and/or dollars, or eventually boots on the ground.
If Trump wanted “peace” he would be asking Russia to stop bombing Ukraine on a daily basis until a deal could be worked out. He has not done that. He has said Ukraine started the war. His envoy said Ukraine provoked Russia into starting the war.
Now, they want Zelenskyy to resign and stop “fighting” but not a word about Russian elections or Putin resigning or Puting stopping the killing.
Trump does not want “peace.” Trump wants Ukraine to surrender so Putin can win.
The minerals deal was a ruse. Zelenskyy went there to sign it. That was a miscalculation on his part. He got had. . He still went there to sign it and was still ready to sign it even after the pre-arranged Vance-Trump tag team.
They told him to go home. They never wanted him to sign it because Putin would never have wanted the U.S. and Ukraine to have any deal. Putin only wants the U.S. to help him achieving his goals and Trump is going along with it.

-Right.
So, if Zelenskyy had shown up in a suit, stayed mute the whole time, and just kept asking “Where do I sign?”, then Trump, Vance, Rubio etc would have turned off the cameras and said “Zelenskyy decided NOT to sign the deal!”.
Got it! LOL! They made Zelenskyy do it! They made him NOT SIGN THE DEAL!
They never gave him a deal to sign. He was there to sign it, whether that was the right decision or not. It was never going to be presented to him. It was a set-up to kill “the deal.”
Pam Bondi now on Pawn Hannity claiming that she got the files at 8 a.m. and “Kash” is going over everything as fast as we can” to protect the victims” and the Fib is doing its job”.
They did not “make him not sign the deal.” They took away the deal. There was never actually a deal. They lured him under false pretenses. He was there to sign it, even after being insulted. At least keep that fact straight.
Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers approved an agreement with the US on natural resources, establishing an Investment Fund for Reconstruction under the following terms:
The fund will be jointly owned by Ukraine and the US.
Ukraine retains ownership of its natural resources.
Ukraine will contribute 50% of revenues from natural resource assets.
The US will contribute funds and assets.
Investments will go toward Ukraine’s reconstruction.
The deal aligns with Ukraine’s EU integration commitments.
I am all for the UK and EU a building a strong military and developing a military alliance among themselves. NATO is outdated and too dependent on the US.
The US needs to focus on national defense regarding China.
I have no idea if Trumps tariffs will be beneficial to our economic growth and economy in the short term. I do know we out source too much and need to grow business and supply in the US.
All I know is we could be a more prosperous country with less debt and less inflation if we weren’t the world’s piggy bank.
Used the word “detest” to explain his feelings for Putin.
It fit a little better than Walt’s use of the word……in my humble opinion, Walt.
Of course, at the same time, he was asking for Zelenskyy to humble himself, like Netanyahu did dealing with Biden, and get back to sign the deal with Trump.
-2 more writers who don’t particularly like Trump, support Ukraine and are against Russia, but are able to look at the situation and say “What the heck did you do?”
Levin: “I don’t get it. I support Ukraine. I detest Putin. But, I don’t get it. Why isn’t Zelenskyy signing this deal? I can’t stand the Putinoids. But I don’t get it.”
🚨 New Trump Education Secretary Linda McMahon has announced the start of the ‘FINAL MISSION’ of the Education Department.
It’s moving toward total dismantlement.
MCMAHON: “Our job is to respect the will of the American people and the President they elected, who has tasked us with accomplishing the elimination of bureaucratic bloat here at the Department of Education – a momentous final mission – quickly and responsibly.”
Trump hasn’t given up on Ukraine. He gave up on Zelenskyy. .
Trump has the remaining citizens of Ukraines best interest at heart. Stop the war and negotiate a lasting security agreement that satisfies both Ukraine and Russia.
I am not sure if it’s possible but he is going to try.
The “continuing the war pro Zelenskyy crowd” are gaslighting everyone to think this war is eventually winnable for Ukraine and 2014 territorial boundaries could be achieved.
That would not happen without significant NATO military involvement and hundreds of thousands boots on the ground and the shed blood of EU, UK and US soldiers on Ukrainian soil. And yes the potential of the beginning of WW 3.
I have posted this countless times in the last three years.
A triggering X post for Jason from the CEO of The Federalist….

@seanmdav
You can draw a straight line from what’s happening with Ukraine today back to the Obama-Biden foreign policy of 2014: they launched a coup to install a puppet government in Ukraine, then used the country as a base of operations for corrupt money laundering and enrichment of the regime’s friends and family, all funded by the American taxpayer. It wasn’t just Hunter Biden getting paid (though he was the most obvious). They were all doing it.
If Zelensky falls and an accountable government is elected, it’s over for everyone who used that country as a piggy bank for the last decade, and they all know it. That knowledge is what unites Obama-era Democrats and neocons. Nobody can ever find out what they’ve been doing, and the best way to keep it all hidden is to make sure the war never ends.
Remember when they bombed Nordstream—Putin’s largest source of economic leverage over Europe—and then tried to claim Putin blew it up? Just wait to see what they come up when they finally decide Zelensky has outlived his usefulness.

Releasing the Epstein perpetrator materials is a BIG deal. We already know several names…Clinton, Prince Andrew, Bill Gates, etc…but this will expose more me. and solidify some things that will damage their reputations (even though they all should be prosecuted) and that’s why the resistance from the corrupt FBI in NY.
I guess the Woke Commie Dems will be pro perpetrator now.
Epstein is just the tip of the iceberg. I have a client whose birth Father was sent to Federal Prison during Trumps first term for international sex trafficking who specialized in supplying white collar men with children in the US and the Netherlands. He began sexually abusing her as a baby and it continued for several years until the mother found out. I have counseled dozens of victims in this area long before sex trafficking was publicly discussed. I have seen it all. The Kubrick movie Eyes Wide Shut was his attempt to shine a light on some aspects of it.
“Number two, is the gravy train here. I mean, we’ve been sending hundreds of billions of dollars over to Ukraine. And these Ukrainian elites, they’re these oligarchs have been feasting on that money. And Zelenskyy is at the top of that pyramid.”
It fits Big Z’s seemingly self-defeating behavior.
All Federal Funding will STOP for any College, School, or University that allows illegal protests. Agitators will be imprisoned/or permanently sent back to the country from which they came. American students will be permanently expelled or, depending on on the crime, arrested. NO MASKS! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
Excellent.
Reversing the Marxist ideology that permeates academia and is turning our hundreds of thousands of communist radicals into every facet of society every year would be the ONE thing that could at least delay the onset of socialism.
Just winning an election here and there won’t do it.
Big Z throws a grenade in the process, and Jason blames Trump.”
LOL
“Zelensky made Trump suspend aid and give Russia a big win” sounds a lot like “Zelensky made Russia invade Ukraine and cause the deaths of half a million people and untold war crimes and destruction”
-No, I don’t believe Levin ever said those words, nor do I think he inferred that feeling either. He is perfectly clear that Putin is a murdering thug, kgb-inspired Soviet-era type dictator.
once again, King Richard, you are being dishonest with your “translations”.
-No, I don’t believe Levin ever said those words, nor do I think he inferred that feeling either. He is perfectly clear that Putin is a murdering thug, kgb-inspired Soviet-era type dictator.”
Those were my words about trusting Putin, they were not in quotes. I said Levin thought the deal was good for Ukraine, but I disagreed.
What I said:
I think it was garbage IF it depended on trusting Putin. With security guarantees I think it would have been a win-win for the US and Ukraine.
The mining deal was a first step and has NOTHING to do with Putin. Putin wants the minerals for himself. If Zelenskyy signs the deal with Trump and the USA(merica), Putin is left out in the cold, and would have to attack OUR interests. That is the security guaranteed
That is the security guaranteed as much as possible.
The next step would be to negotiate the end of the war with Putin. Or, you and Zelenskyy could go with your Great Britain “security guarantees” written on a sheet of paper.
“The mining deal was a first step and has NOTHING to do with Putin. Putin wants the minerals for himself. If Zelenskyy signs the deal with Trump and the USA(merica), Putin is left out in the cold, and would have to attack OUR interests. That is the security guaranteed”
In Jason’s list of Russian below, how many of those countries had close economic or strategic ties to the US?”
Wait.
We should trust Putin because he only invades countries without close economic or strategic ties to the US?
Which of course, is wrong too, it is in the general strategic interest of the US to oppose Russia’s expansionist agenda no matter where it is. An emboldened and stronger Russia will threaten other countries as we have seen with Russia’s threats against Finland and the Baltic states and Moldova, its meddling in the politics of the “Stans” and its use of North Korean troops in Ukraine.
Russian expansionism, as I have stated here often, is not only overt military action like Ukraine. It can be economic and political influence too, as with the virtual annexation of Belarus.
Whether we think Putin’s ambition of recreating the USSR is feasible or not given the military debacles suffered in Ukraine, it is still clearly his stated objective, and it should be opposed by the same political, economic and military means.
NYC said…”If Zelenskyy signs the deal with Trump and the USA(merica), Putin is left out in the cold, and would have to attack OUR interests. That is the security guaranteed”
“We should trust Putin because he only invades countries without close economic or strategic ties to the US?”
-LOL!
Where did you pull this “translation” out of?!?! Let me use Bitterlaws line “Said by no one at HHR.” In response to Jason’s ludicrous “translation” above.
That is the security guaranteed as much as possible.”
I didn’t oppose the “business arrangement”. While I didn’t read the entire mineral deal and don’t claim to understand all of it, anything that increases ties to Ukraine and helps it rebuild is a positive to me. In addition, the US needs these strategic minerals and keeping it from the Russians is another plus.
I just think it is worthless without a means to protect it. It what Zelensky thought too with good reason.
I have defended GWB on the Iraq war here by quoting what in my view was one of his best statements “trusting in the sanity of Saddam Hussein is not an option”.
I think what Zelensky is saying is “trusting in the sanity (or the word) of Vladimir Putin is not an option”.
-Example of what type of security guarantee you are speaking about?”
The most obvious one would be that the US would agree to provide offensive weapons capable of destroying Russia’s infrastructure as well as share satellite or other intelligence on Russian positions or movements if Russia violated the agreement.
His list reinforces the idea that countries with economic and strategic ties to the US have not been on wrong end of Russia’s atrocities.
Many countries that used to be USSR or Warsaw Pact places are now NATO members (I posted the list yesterday). None are, or will, be targets of Russia because America has a reason to protect them (altruism isn’t a reason) and Russia knows it.
Here is that well known republican dolt and putinista (according to the Ukrainiacs of course) Victor David Hansen from yesterday. There is a full transcript below the video if you don’t want to listen =
EU and the diddycrats are essentially the same political party.
I don’t think the EU can exist long term if it’s going to continue to be run by the wokes because it’s nonviable long term. Either Putin will have to take it over, or the the Islamic state will have to run it to restore order.
I won’t be watching but I look forward to the analysis.
A wide array of props — including noisemakers — has also been floated:
Signs with anti-Trump or anti-DOGE messages — just as Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) held up a sign during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech last year that said “war criminal.”
Apparently politicians’ behavior change, determined whether or not the cameras are on or off.
”On the disconnect between the public rhetoric and the real talk away from the cameras, Vance continued: “You have Zelensky, he goes to Europe, and a lot of our European friends puff him up, and they say ‘You’re a freedom fighter, you need to keep fighting forever’… when you talk to leaders in private, whether they are Ukrainian or European when you talk to people in private they will tell you this cannot go on forever.”
He continued: “The craziest part of this… is sometimes you will have European heads of state who in public will puff up their chests and say, ‘we’re in it with President Zelensky for the next 10 years’, and then in private, they will pick up the phone and say, ‘This can’t go on forever. He has to come to the negotiating table’.
I don’t think either Putin or Zelenskyy should be trusted. Both men have broken deals made. Both men seem to love their powerful positions. Both men have jailed or banned any opposition to their regimes. The biggest difference is that Putin has more experience and time spent being a dictator, while Zelenskyy is growing into the role.
“US stocks tanked Tuesday morning after President Donald Trump made good on his threat to levy tariffs on Canada and Mexico, paving the way for a global trade war.
The hefty tariffs imposed by the Trump administration could contribute to a crash in the global economy, similar to the Great Depression of the 1930s, said Andrew Wilson, the deputy secretary-general of the International Chamber of Commerce, according to the Wall Street Journal.
“Our deep concern is that this could be the start of a downward spiral that puts us in 1930s trade-war territory,” Wilson said.
The Dow fell by 785 points Tuesday, or 1.8%, and the broader S&P 500 slid 1.7%. The Nasdaq Composite was down by 1.5%, after dipping into correction territory earlier. The VIX, Wall Street’s fear gauge, surged to its highest level this year.
The broad selloff in markets spanned the globe Tuesday in response to Trump’s decision to go forward with tariffs: In Europe, the STOXX Europe 600 index fell 1.9% in afternoon trading and Germany’s DAX index tumbled 3%. In Asia, Japan’s Nikkei 225 index fell 1.2% and Hong Kong’s benchmark Hang Seng index slid 0.28%. In China, the Shanghai Composite index rose 0.22%.
Currencies were hit too, with the US dollar sliding. Mexico’s peso fell against the dollar and the Canadian dollar gained slightly.
Futures on gold rose, signaling more uncertainty about geopolitical stability. Trading partners announce tit-for-tat tariffs
The 25% tariff on goods imported from the US’s closest trading partners comes after Trump also imposed an additional 10% tariff on Chinese goods, raising that country’s rate to 20%.
The broad-based levies are intended to stem the flow of fentanyl into the United States, the Trump administration said.
But the impact of tariffs on everyday goods for Americans could stall the economic engine that drives US growth. Inflation-weary consumers are already starting to rein in their spending as uncertainty ripples through households. Layoffs are rising, consumer confidence has plunged, and inflation is still above the Federal Reserve’s target of 2%.
“The market finally took the Trump administration at its word, and the realization that the tariff talk wasn’t just a negotiating tactic is starting to sink in,” said Chris Zaccarelli, chief investment officer for Northlight Asset Management, in a note Tuesday.
China immediately struck back Tuesday, announcing tariffs on chicken, pork, beef and some agricultural imports from the US, according to a statement from the State Council Tariff Commission. Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said hours before the tariffs took effect that Ottawa would immediately respond with tariffs on billions of dollars of US goods.
While Trump has long signaled his intent to impose stringent levies on America’s trading partners, many investors believed the threat of tariffs was a negotiation strategy. But as the deadline neared, fear rose that Trump’s actions would spark a trade war.
Ukraine and USA(merica) will hopefully sign a deal which means they will work together. Trust comes through accountability, audits, reviews, etc etc ……you know, those things that every administration for the past 100 years has let lapse until DOGE came along.
Resetting economic relationships with countries is going to have painful side effects in the short run. The goal, though, involves “long run” thinking where there is more balanced trade between countries, as well as bringing manufacturing back to this country rather than always off-shoring manufacturing and jobs abroad. Argentina is an example of implementing such an austerity program at the get go, and now their 2nd quarter GDP prediction is 7.1.
“It’s too little too late. We need regime change in Ukraine. Goober is right.”
-Disagree, especially if Goober agrees with it. Ukraine will make their own choice once the minerals deal goes thru, and a ceasefire is negotiated. Zelenskyy, like Churchill after WWII, should get a chance to face the voters. History will show if they make a good or bad choice. England looks to have made a bad choice after the war, in my personal opinion.
“Wow, the Putinistas are not satisfied with surrendering Ukraine to Putin, now their ambition is all of Europe?”
nope it’s that the diddycrats and the EU want to create a prison planet. The diddycrats get most of their ideas from the EU security grandmas that run it for implementing on their American victims here stateside.
EU is a failed state slowly dying. someone will have to take over so either Putin, or China or islamic state etc.
If Martial Law is ever lifted in Ukraine and elections allowed Zelenskyy will booted by the people. I guess that would make them all Putin puppets in the eyes of Jason and Bitter.
in the meantime Trump’s choice for Defense Undersecretary of policy, Elbridge Coby, is being grilled by the Senate today. Hopefully he will be confirmed, as he is another needed independent thinker.
I look forward to Europe stepping up and filling the void left by Trump’s pause of aid to Ukraine. You know, money and materials to back up all those tweets they like to send out “supporting” Ukraine. After all, it’s the security of Europe at stake! Yeah, right! LOL
I would ask you to refrain from posting any bad news about Adams. The most likely result of his demise will be Mayor Cuomo, which may also lead to President Cuomo. Unless you “despise/detest” another NYC person as well?!?!
You do realize that while you were here for years talking about “enforcing current laws” and claiming WE ARE WINNING, 15+ million illegals entered, right?
You do realize that while you claimed WE ARE WINNING, probably hundreds of billions were spent on benefits for them, right”
You do realize that while claiming WE ARE WINNING, 90%+ of them will never be subject to immigration laws, considering they are not going anywhere, unless you think Trump will deport more than 1.5 million illegals in his term.
You do realize that while Trump is stemming the current flow across the border, long term it will only take one election for the borders to be open again.
For you, 15 million + illegals meant WE ARE WINNING.
I look forward to Europe stepping up and filling the void left by Trump’s pause of aid to Ukraine
IMO, the European’s rhetoric is more bluster than reality. For instance, the US has supplied over 3 million rounds of ammunition versus the EU’s tally of one million. It’s our country playing the major proxy in this war with Russia. However, when Trump attempts diplomatic means to extricate ourselves or at least de-escalate it the Zelenskyy cult breaks out in hives.
Of course Europe isn’t filling the void on funding and resources for Ukraine. They have mostly been all talk. Plenty of bluster while they expect us to spend the treasure. After all, they have welfare states to support. F em. It’s their back yard. Sugar daddy Biden and his puppeteers aren’t running things (into the ground) any longer. Zelinskyy’s American ATM card has reached its limit. Billions and billions for an endless stalemate was never going to be sustainable regardless of how loud the Liz Chenneys, Vindmans and Bill Krystols scream. Zelinkyy chose to throw in his lot with Democrats and Europeans neither of which are willing or capable of writing him any checks.

In what mind do you have to be to even accept the proposition that Great Britain is in any way able to provide a security guarantee?
Once again – Jan2017-Jan2021 – Putin/Russia no expansion
ONLY 1 thing changed during that time in the world! Trump was President.
If Great Britain can provide anything resembling a “security guarantee”, why didn’t they provide it in February 2022??

I just think it is worthless without a means to protect it. It what Zelensky thought too with good reason.
I have defended GWB on the Iraq war here by quoting what in my view was one of his best statements “trusting in the sanity of Saddam Hussein is not an option”.

Related article What will cost Americans more from sweeping tariffs on Mexico, China and Canada
That triggered a massive selloff on Wall Street on Monday: The Dow ended the day down by 650 points, the S&P had its worst day since December and the Nasdaq Composite flirted with correction territory.”

I look forward to Europe stepping up and filling the void left by Trump’s pause of aid to Ukraine. You know, money and materials to back up all those tweets they like to send out “supporting” Ukraine. After all, it’s the security of Europe at stake! Yeah, right! LOL

Walt,
I would ask you to refrain from posting any bad news about Adams. The most likely result of his demise will be Mayor Cuomo, which may also lead to President Cuomo.
Unless you “despise/detest” another NYC person as well?!?!

Jan opposed aid to Ukraine the first day of the invasion. Her Zelensky hatred had nothing to do with that then.

wrong on enforcing immigration laws.”
Talk about alternate universe.
You are a moron.
