The playbook for the Dems after Trump was elected was to:
–work hard to get control of House and Senate
–fight and thwart him within the giant federal government bureaucracy
–challenge him in court.
*********************************
I see no reason why that will not be their plan if Trump wins in November.
_______________________________________________
As to the POTUS race between the felon and the vegetable:
If the Dems cannot force Joe off the ballot, then the $$$ will flow will be redirected from Biden to contested Senate and Congressional races to sway the election to the D candidates so ds have control of both House and Senate. Especially if the D powers realize they cannot stop Trump from winning.
And AGAIN Fight Trump within the bureaucracy and fight him in the courts.
They do not care if that leads to a stalemated, do-nothing federal government for four years.
Trump is not a “felon” until he receives sentencing from a judge. The ”felon” stripe, however, is something the Dems like to pin on him, as well as those who intensely disfavor him.
The politics surrounding Trump make me reflect on a 1997 film called “Sliding Doors,” starring Gwyneth Paltrow. It’s a story having two small incidents that differ with each other, creating huge differences in the end – one where a young woman caught a train home after work, and the other where the train’s doors slid closed before she could catch it. In the first instance, where she caught the train, she also arrived home earlier than expected to see her husband cheating on her. This caused her to ditch him and eventually create an extraordinarily successful life for herself without him as an anchor. In the second rendition, where she missed the train, she also missed her husband having an affair, and continued living with a deceitful partner, also denying her opportunities to make a success of herself.
In 2016 if Trump had not won the election, Hilary Clinton would have become POTUS, selected the next 3 SC jurists, would have been more hawkish in wars, speeded up our culture wars etc. Trump, albeit with his “immoral” personality, deflected all that from happening. With the “what ifs” still in mind, if Trump had been re-elected in 2920, Russia most likely would not have invaded Ukraine, Hamas would most likely not have executed their Israeli atrocities, COVID protocols and mandates would have ended sooner with fewer small businesses going under, our debt would be smaller, our borders still reasonably secured, DEI would not have been implemented in our military, nor all the gender distortion policies taken root in our schools and medical practices…and so much more would not be here today.
…..and, yet we continue to see Trump as the ”deplorable” one, vs Biden the vegetable.
Jan – I only saw 2 posts and approved both. I released one that said Bunu’s posts don’t bother you. The HHR consensus is that he is an anti-Semitic America-hating pro-terrorist bastard. You are free to disagree.
Morning Consult has (in the 2-man race) Joe winning Michigan by five, and Trump winning Pennsylvania by seven.
I know all polls are correct, but odds are at least one of these is a tad off. There’s not likely to be a twelve point difference between those states.
I believe voters in separate states do what they want. If they were in lockstep with other states, why are Presidential elections not all 538 EV landslides?
I guess the predictions that France was going Right were wrong. Just like the HHR consensus prediction that the MSM and Dem leaders would say that Biden had a great debate and a great interview with George S.
Bitter, with all due respect, I didn’t realize anyone had said France was going right. I do recall people discussing how the right won the first round. There was always going to be a challenge to get control of their version of parliment due to the alliance between the socialist/communist left and Macron’s party to withdraw any “third” candidate that could have syphoned enough votes off to let the right leaning candidate win.
Despite that the right has a chance to have the second most members, have at least doubled their largest contingent in the government, and the result is a completely hung chamber.
Sadly, this will mean unfettered immigration which stretches already thin government resources, more socialist policies, more crime, more unrest for those who want even more government goodies/freebies, and I believe, even more chance for the right to gain supporters heading into the 2027 elections, which will hopefully put an end to Macron.
Macron is gone either way in 2027 because of term limits, which he called “damnable bullsh-t”. Though, with 30% approval, he would be unlikely to win a third term even if he could run again.
Bitter, one post had to do with your new vetting program. I neither care about Bunu one way or the other, as I skip over his repetitive posting. However, his behavior appears to provoke some “regular” posters repetitious posting too – about how awful he is. As for my other comment, about “sliding door,” I guess that didn’t meet with your approval. I’m starting to see your blog as one that will only be sanctioned for a privileged few members. Too bad….
LePen’s French National Rally Party did not win outright, nor did they finish second.
Their party, however doubled their number in the French parliament. The strategy going forward is to block objectionable legislation in Parliament while preparing for the next national election in 2027. Macron will not be a candidate then, barred by the French constitution.
I expect the National Party to continue to grow in appeal to the voters as an alternative to what will be a weak and ineffective government over the next three years. The trend to the right should accelerate when the voters eventually reject the drift toward socialism, as they most certainly will……..eventually.
I saw your post mentioning “Sliding Doors” and decided to check it out. Plan to watch it later.
Also, a Trump win in 2020 would have almost guaranteed at least twelve years of Democrat Party rule and an accelerated surge to the left. As it appears now, we appear to be headed to a possible twelve years of a Republcan in the White House.
Jan – I will gladly leave HHR if it becomes dominated by Jew-haters like Bunu a/k/a Anonymous. His anti-Semitic and anti-American posts should be unacceptable to the alleged conservatives here. For some reason, you are ok with it. Of course, Bunu likes conspiracy theories as much as you do.
My wife and children would be killed by the Bunus of the world and he does not deserve to embrace killing them and other Jews on the blog I pay for.
Marv – Thank you but it is not necessary. It is inexpensive. I also don’t want HHR to turn into a full on conspiracy blog filled with nothing but Gateway Pundit nonsense and Bunu’s hate speech.
BIG trouble in the Democrat Party, irrespective of Biden’s cognitive decline. It appeared that Trump would beat him even before the debate. Now, the Democrat Party is destroying itself by attempting to remove Biden even before they have decided upon how and when to select a replacement.
Apparently there is some talk about a one month flurry of super primaries, or some version thereof. This is truly a “pass the popcorn” event in progress.
Bitter – I believe the elections results of both round one and round two show a movement towards the right in France. I took your comments as a suggestion someone here (me potentially) said the Right leaning party would win, which knowing the alliances that were being formed I knew would be impossible.
I think their overall win in Round one, and doubling their seats (with a potential for a second place finish depending how the last seats shake out), is a movement right.
TBH where I was wrong was saying the British population wanted a move left. That is wrong. The left won more seats because of greater competition for the center-right vote, allowing them to sneak in to more than half their seats. In the end, Conservatives/Reform ended up wiht 38% of the vote, Labour 33.7%.
BTW thank all of you for correcting me on Macron
Lastly, Jan, keeping Bunu’s racists posts off this blog does not mean its being censored or restricted. There are standards of conduct which are a tenet of civil society and discourse, racism and anti-semitism (BLATENT BTW) does not reach that standard.
Yes, we most certainly do live in interesting times.
I hope that GOP candidates at every level follow the advice of Sun Tzu when he said ‘when your enemy is in the process of destroying itself, do not interfere’.
My guess is that Trump will defeat whomever the Dems select, the GOP will capture the Senate and the GOP will expand its lead in the House
I am aware of all the caveats and warnings about spiking the football before crossing the goal or celebrating before the clock on the scoreboard reads 0.00.
Marv – I hope Trump wins and the GOP holds the House and takes the Senate. I am relieved that no matter what happens, Trump will never again be on my ballot. Both can be true.
Marv, it’s always a pleasure to see your name on a thread. I think you would find the movie (Sliding Doors) provocative, mirroring so many inconveniences we initially rail against that actually prove to be ultimately beneficial for us. Taking the Trump analogy further, because he lost the 2020 election, it has abundantly shown how corrupt the dem party actually is – especially when they have too much power.
Thank you for the post regarding the actual underlying slow but discernible drift to the right in both the UK and France. I agree with you.
Also, the fracture among the parties who blocked the French National party became apparent upon the announcement of results. Melenchon, the leader of the far left coalition which finished first wants Macron to resign immediately.
I enjoy reading your posts, I check HHR daily, but don’t always have time to comment.
At this point, I think a GOP White House and GOP control of both houses of Congress is the likely outcome. If I were a betting man, that’s where I would put my money.
Vic & Bitter, I didn’t mean to imply your squashing Bunu’s access to HHR wasn’t warranted. It’s just the many comments following his/her posts angrily denouncing him/her made the blog more about him/her than anything else, and probably encouraged him/her to do more of the same, like an angry child getting back at the parents. One positive aspect of all the attention spent on one irritating poster is that it slowed down the hits on others you disagree with.
Thanks Marv for the “nice” comment. I hope you are right about your predictions. Furthermore I do think entertaining a positive outcome is more beneficial than spinning fear of the opposite happening. So, thanks for your optimism!
As always great to have you back. I hope you are doing well.
Your comment on the situation in France is spot on, and also indicative of the way the far left/socialists/communists act. Even when they “win” with less than a third of the actual voting percentage, and allocated seats, they somehow think they have the power to implement their suffocating, rights crushing policies on people.
Turns out as of now the right is only a few seats behind Macron’s party, and will be within striking distance of the far left, who will finish with less than 200 seats out of the 577 allocated. This is because of the following: “More than 200 candidates from Macron’s centrist party – and the left-wing alliance – stepped down in an attempt to avoid splitting the vote…” It was a coordinated effort to keep the right from winning.
In the end there will be chaos, opening the door for the right to win in ’27
I do read most of your comments Bitter, except those reacting to Bunu and ones involving overseas wars. We actually agree more than we disagree….just don’t tell anyone.
Jan, like Marv, I enjoy your (Tina’s, too) posts because on some topics I see things differently. I think it is good to hear from good people on their perspectives.

Considering that I am the one that releases the posts caught in the filter, I am fine with Jan and Tina posting here. I also think that they support a KGB killer and that Gateway Pundit and Zero Hedge are conspiracy blogs filled with nonsense. All can be true.
Since a majority of republicans do not support more overseas funding for pensions, salaries, munitions, in lieu of all our needs right here, I guess Bitter must consider them all supporting a KGB killer.
