If they swap Biden out for Newsome, he won’t be able to run on being popular in CA.
“A recent poll from the Public Policy Institute of California reveals widespread dissatisfaction among voters with their government leaders in the state — including Newsom. Six out of ten voters believe California is on the wrong track, and Newsom’s approval ratings are underwater at 44%.
That’s a pretty devastating poll, considering that 47% of respondents were Democrats and only 24% were Republicans. Biden’s approval rating among California adults is at 42%.

The debate is over. The next significant event is the Trump sentencing in less than two weeks. Assuming Biden continues to be stubborn and refuses to step aside (most likely) we need to revisit what the hack lunatic judge is going to do with Trump. Will he now throw Trump in jail in an attempt to remove him from the campaign trail. Considering how desperate Democrats are after the debate, is that now more of a possibility? If it is, how would a sentence like that effect the campaign? Thoughts? — Phil

Newsome went on TV once to blame being an alcoholic for banging his best friend’s (who was also working for him) wife before going to rehab. When he was 39 he was dating a 19 year old and giving her alcohol. During the pandemic evidently the CA press covered up several extra marital affairs.
“The San Joaquin Valley Sun reported that same month that the “worst-kept secret in Sacramento” was that “Newsome was engaged in multiple alleged extra-marital affairs over the course of 2020.”
None of this disqualifies him but it does pose some risk in nominating him. In today’s environment you don’t know who is going to come out of the woodwork to accuse you of something, and it seems Newsome has plenty of baggage. You can bet the Inquirer and other tabloids will be searching for these women. And these are not long ago instances, they are current enough that their might be texts, videos, etc.
The Dems will say “who cares, look at Trump, he is worse” but they are trying to run against Trump on “moral” grounds.

I imagine he has some emergency appeals he could file, maybe directly to SCOTUS.
But most likely, if the judge sentences him to jail, he would suspend it pending appeal.

The goal of the dems all along, through the indictments etc., has been to take Trump out of the political picture. Merchan has complied, doing his part, to conduct a biased court resulting in a conviction and the ability to label Trump a “felon.” Now, Merchan will be in charge of executing the sentence. He will neither be fair nor lenient. At best, he will put Trump on house arrest at Mar a Largo. However, if he throws the book at Trump, sending him to Rikers, there will be a tremendous back lash, possibly resulting in some kind of judicial intervention.

I don’t think house arrest would cause as big of a backlash than being put in prison. After all, Trump being @ “home” could still carry on with meetings, phone calls and even do rallies by taking part on a big screen at events hosted by surrogates. He would probably have daily rallies outside of Mar a Largo by devoted followers, and would think of other ways to campaign because he is a think-outside-the-box type of guy.

The U.S. has been been a major part of the “global” community since the Spanish-American War.
Deep State does not exist so it can’t be defined. Federal Employees would never work that hard.
People were excited by the Chevron case because it pissed off libs. Almost no conservatives actually read it and the dissents. Feds are still going to regulate everything. Go read the “mud flap” cases.

Jan – I will make it easy for you. I believe:
1. Taxes are too high.
2. Governments at all levels regulate too much.
3. There is no Deep State. If it did exist, it sucks at being secret.
4. The US military should always be ready to kill our enemies and give weapons to those who will do it for us.
5. Trump is not a conservative or Republican. He was useful to beat Hillary. I hope he wins in 2024 but I will be happy to be done with him after that.

Bitter, while this country is a part of the so-called global community, we are still very much an individualistic group of people who do not like being ruled by the edicts of the WEF or the China-controlled WHO. That’s why so many make derogatory comments about global dictates impinging on our own sovereignty.
The deep state is basically another reference to the administrative state, which does exist, starting with the progressive vision and legislation of FDR, and later the Great Society.
As for the Chevon Deterrence decision, it’s considered one of biggest rulings by SCOTUS to downsize government, tempering the overreach of unelected bureaucrats. This has been pursued by Gorsuch for some time, to trim the appendages of big government who have overstepped and misidentified the powers granted them, in order to expand their regulatory reach over citizens.
All three topics- globalism, administrative (or deep) state, and now Chevon are interconnected – Chevron being more an antidote, or anti-growth mechanism, for the first two.
BTW, the EU is undergoing a similar governmental revolt, reacting to such government pushes as uncontrolled immigration, the dissolution of their cultures, and the high costs of climate change policies.

Newsome has tanked down to 13%, I think there is a realization it would be pretty much impossible to elevate Newsome by bypassing Kamala.
