I told this story before. In college, I went to a lecture by a Libertarian speaker. He started by saying there should be no laws regarding alcohol or drugs. I didn’t agree but it got a good reception from some. Then he said that there should be no laws against sex with children. I walked out.
Obviously, that is a small segment but I have been wary of Libertarians since then.

I like meat rare but bear meat should be boiled before you put it on a grill to get rid of a fatty taste.
I don’t hunt bear. PA issues about 220,000 bear licenses a year but only about 3,500 get a bear, so like 98.5% don’t get a bear. I don’t like the odds.
So I get bear meat from the lucky 1.5% that actually bag one. Sue me.

I have never made excuses for the Pope’s political statements but Jason knows this. Of course, Jason is not Catholic so his opinion on Church doctrine and practice is irrelevant to me.
I know some Catholics who. will only go to a Latin Mass. They will only kneel at the altar rail for communion and, pre-COVID, would only accept the host placed on their tongue by the priest. They think altar girls are an abomination. They also thought my mother serving as a Eucharistic Minister was an abomination (I did tell them to F off over that). They can what they want but I am not going to their form of Mass.

I don’t care what the “form of Mass” is, and that of course is not what I was talking about.
I also never rendered any opinion on “Church doctrine and practice”.
If someone asked me, I would say priests should be allowed to marry, so I am hardly a defender of conservative church doctrine.
My point is that the Pope is a Communist who thinks capitalism needs to be destroyed as the root of all evil and the world’s economy should be destroyed in favor of a climate change agenda. I think the Pope’s woke agenda is destructive to the church because it is only supported by people who ultimately hate religion and the Catholic church.
Of course, Bitter knows all this, but he wants to be intellectually dishonest to paint me as someone giving opinions on church doctrine, a baldfaced lie.
I thought it was positive that there seems to be a backlash against the Pope’s far left political agenda, but even that seems to trigger Bitter.
Finally, the statement “I never made excuses for the Pope’s political statements” is another lie.
By pretending to not understand what my point is, you are doing exactly that.

I don’t go to Mass very often. I still believe Jesus rose from the dead and the Eucharist is his body and blood. Both can be true.
I’m lazy. I married a Jewish woman and my children were not baptized. They can make their own decisions. I am hardly an ideal Catholic but better than Biden.

I just visited the Mission in Santa Barbara this morning. Too late for Mass (the bells were ringing as we pulled up, and by the time we found parking and got the kids walked over, it was halfway done). We contented ourselves to walk the limited free the grounds and the gift shop. They seemed more concerned with the Italian festival going on (including ridiculously overpriced food and street art exhorting me to read banned books; Beloved by Toni Morrison, perhaps?), and rushed the parishioners out at the end of Mass to get a tour group started (so I couldn’t take my son into the chapel for a prayer to our departed family members). I guess St. Peter’s must be the same; when a church becomes a tourist attraction, the faithful take second place.
But what really got me was the info board with a message from the Franciscans to honor Dope Frank’s second encyclical directing us to honor his commitment to social justice and caring for “our common home” ie climate justice. Their philosophy is that St. Francis cared for the animals and his gardens, so we must follow in his footsteps and sign up with Greenpeace or something like that.
I confess that Orthodoxy is looking more appealing by the day, though they have their share of Pinkos as well.

I saw that the 30 year old golfer killed himself. It was reported that he died “by suicide.” I hate that expression. It makes it seem like suicide snuck up on him and he is not responsible for his own death. Sadly, he was.

I listened to Springsteen long before he was mainstream…like 1973-5. Went to three concerts in the seventies…some of my favorites of all time and I saw most of the big acts in the seventies. He is a total establishment tool and sold out the working class fans who made the guy rich. I grew up on the music that was anti establishment … as naive as they were back then. In the recent decades the music talent and creativity has gone down the crapper with no true artists or deep message…symptomatic of Marxist CRT woke environment they promote now.
