“Slovakian media has identified the shooter as 71-year-old Juraj Cintula, a self-described writer who previously worked as a security guard and is allegedly linked to pro-Russian group Slovački branci.”
“Hungarian investigative journalist Szabolcs Panyi has unearthed Facebook posts reportedly showing Cintula as a sympathiser and supporter of the pro-Russian paramilitary group Slovenskí Branci, known for its links to the Kremlin.
Slovenskí Branci has been accused of attempting to recruit young men across Slovakia for its paramilitary organisation. In a post from January 2016, Cintula is seen holding a speech next to members of the group wearing camouflage.
In the accompanying text attributed to Cintula, he expressed extremist views in support of self-organised militias, who, according to him, should be allowed to protect “the inhabitants, the country, tradition, (and) culture” from migrants coming from outside of Europe.”

A Duval County, Florida courtroom heard testimony from several witnesses on Wednesday during a hearing to determine whether Gardner — a mother of two charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, solicitation to commit a capital felony and child endangerment — should be allowed bond in the murder case.”

Chi – Jan has a history of immediately posting things that fit her view of the spooky conspiracy theories that haunt her. Once again, being first does not make her right. For example, ask her how many yachts Zelensky owns. No free lunch.
”Gen. Valery Zaluzhny, Ukraine’s former commander-in-chief who was recently appointed ambassador to the UK, has long been rumored to be a potential presidential candidate in a future election, although he hasn’t announced his intention to run.
Earlier this year, a poll in Ukraine found Zelensky would lose to Zaluzhny in a presidential election. The poll found that 41% favored Zaluzhny in a first-round election, while only 23.7% would vote for Zelensky.”
Ukrainian elections should have been held in March, as were elections for their parliament were set for last October. Both were cancelled. As of May 20 Zelenskyy’s presidential term will have ended, making him an illegal president as is his US chum, Biden.
Bitter, saying “Everyone here knows you have no morals and no character” was over the top. As you point out, there’s plenty of room to attack her positions; so do that.

The NFL, on cue, condemned Harrison Butker’s speech, saying his views do not reflect that of the league.
This from a league with players who beat women captured on video playing (Mixon), those were credibly involved in murder who are celebrated (lewis), etc, etc etc. but yes, Butker is an abomination to them.
Jason has become the “Maxine Waters” of HHR – sarcastically fuming and slinging aspersions, but adding little substantial content to conversations here.
I can finally agree with Vic on one post – the defense of Butker’s wholesome comments dealing with women, marriage etc. Our woke society, like Jason, abhors anyone who differs from their cultural or political views of the world. When someone does stray from their approved narrative they are immediately excoriated, condemned, and in the case of Butker, want him fired even though he’s an outstanding addition to his team
Jan, do you see how when you have a good and salient point, you lose the reader because you insert an ad hominem reference/attack on someone.
Had you left out the Jason comment, everyone on here would have agreed with you. A vast majority of posters here agree with Butker and would have agreed with you, sans the added snark.
”The main takeaway from the cancellation of elections in Ukraine is that the permanent regime in Washington doesn’t really want free and fair elections in Ukraine right now for the same reason they don’t really want free and fair elections here in America: The voters might get in the way of their agenda, and they can’t have that.”
Stories are continually breaking through the Biden administration’s rosy propaganda about how the war is really going in Ukraine – the war fatigue endemic in the military, the people hiding their children from forced conscription, the corruption and rot prevalent in Ukraine’s government officials, how the war has incentivized a closer more dangerous Putin/Xi relationship….But, none of these negatives seem to penetrate the hardheaded war supporters here, who would rather sit on their insatiable desire to ”win” at any cost, despite such a “win” being more costly to the Ukrainian and American people than the elites, oligarchies, and industrial military complex of the west.
Vic, the added snark is because Jason is such a snarky person. Disagreement is better served with civil debate. However, Jason does not abide by such a principled back and forth, and enjoys thrashing those who leave the Jason opinion plantation. So, he gets back what he sows.
Bitter, do you ever give consideration to what the Ukrainian people prefer? Whenever I post negatives on what this war is doing to that country (and our’s as well) you throw it back into a personal preference. There is a preponderance of evidence that the Ukrainian people are fed up with this war, and now would vote Zelenskyy out of office if they could. Why does this evolvement of events not at least make you question your own positions on what is turning into a forever war?
here is a preponderance of evidence that the Ukrainian people are fed up with this war, and now would vote Zelenskyy out of office if they could.”
Horrible lie.
The Ukrainian people are fighting and dying for their country, a noble cause.
What is killing Ukrainians and “doing to that country” are the actions of Putin and the Russian invaders. ONLY Putin is responsible for the war and its consequences. Nobody else, not Zelensky, not Biden. Putin.
The war could end tomorrow with the Russian withdrawal from Ukraine.
The idea that Zelensky is “prolonging the war” is a lie and typical of Janzam’s pro-Putin propaganda.
Zelenksy is not unpopular and neither is the desire to win the war.
Like I said before, the lack of empathy by “Putin’s nurse” to the terrible toll this war is taking on the Ukrainian people has to mean there is a special place in hell for her.
Jan – I oppose the conquest of Ukraine. You don’t. Why not? If the Ukrainians want to surrender, they can take Zelensky out. There are many soldiers with many weapons. Zelensky is one man.
Will you ever admit that Putin is a KGB killer and if Ukraine surrenders, he will order the execution of any person who dared to fight against him? What do you think Putin would do to a conquered Ukraine?
Jan. The majority of men who are serving and living in Ukraine DO NOT want to surrender despite what the anti-semetic zerohedge puts out. I stay in fairly decent contact with people inside the Ukraine (once a month) and they despise Putin, want to repel him and never speak of surrender. But…maybe zerohedge knows better. Right?
Also Janzam is quoting pro-Russian “polls” to suggest Zelensky is unpopular.
Gallup in Oct 2023 puts him at over 80%.
“The latest Gallup result remains near to a record-high approval rating of 84 percent from September 2022, months into the war. The polling firm does not state how many people were polled, but said support for Zelensky remains strong “across all demographic groups, geographic regions and income groups.”
Ukrainian polls show him at a still very healthy 62-18 approval-disapproval, a certain drop in popularity is inevitable during a long grinding war.
And more importantly even among those who don’t completely support Zelensky, they support the war against Russia.
“This decline in the President’s popularity does not pose any real threat to Mr. Zelensky’s ability to maintain power. According to Ukrainian laws, elections are not held during wartime. But even if changes were made to the law, 67 per cent of Ukrainians do not support holding elections during wartime, says a survey by the International Republican Institute.
Yes, Ukrainians have become disillusioned with Mr. Zelensky. But as long as the enemy is on our land and as long as we continue the fight, no one will be looking for a new president. There are far more important tasks at hand: for example, removing from our lands the soldiers of the President of a neighbouring country – another Vladimir.”
“Ukrainian commander Odin’s lower leg was blown off in a mine explosion last year. Now he’s back in the trenches.
“I had offers to go back to my local academy as a teacher or to work at a draft office in Odesa,” the 32-year-old from the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade told Reuters from a cramped bunker on the front line in the eastern region of Donetsk. “I said I’m not interested in these positions.”
Mango, a 28-year-old tank gunner, saw his hand shredded by shrapnel two years ago during fighting in Mariupol before he was captured by the Russians. He too has returned to the front, as logistics chief for a battalion in the Azov Brigade, which held out for months in defence of the southern city”
Has Putin’s Nurse told us yet how much of Ukraine’s sovereign land she is willing to surrender and how many millions of Ukrainians she finds acceptable to be enslaved by Russia.
“I think it’s devastating,” Cooper added later. “I mean, for Michael Cohen’s credibility on this, I mean, on this one particular topic.”
He added, “Yes, I think, if I was a juror in this case, watching that, I would think this guy’s making this up as he’s going along or he’s making this particular story up.”
Of course, he tries to minimize it by the “one particular topic” but that “topic” is actually the conversation Cohen claims to have had with Trump. The call was 90 seconds, it was about some 14 year old prankster, but Cohen didn’t know the defense had the texts after the call. Cohen was forced to say “oh, yeah, we talked about the prankster AND Stormy”.
Bitter wrote: “Bad things happen when you take a starter and put him in the bullpen.”
Yeah, Tony LaRussa only won three straight AL pennants right after converting longtime starters Dennis Eckersley and Rick Honeycutt — who had 100 and 47 career complete games, respectively — into relievers. Eck only had 126 saves, a 1.50 ERA and 0.702 WHIP (not a typo) from 1988 to 1990 (and subsequently won the 1992 AL MVP Award), while the underrated Honeycutt had a 2.87 ERA, 1.134 WHIP and 26 saves while averaging 61 games and 73 innings during those three seasons.
But Bitter was 100% correct that the fact that the U.S. held presidential and congressional elections in 1864 says nothing about how unfeasible and risk-laden it would be for Ukraine to attempt that during its fight to preserve its sovereignty. In 1864, the Confederates didn’t have the ability to bomb polling stations from miles away, or to send drones to assassinate politicians campaigning for votes (and the crowds gathering to listen to them speak).
And, as both Bitter and Jason (hi to both, by the way) have pointed out, those Putin apologists only complain of “lack of democracy” in Ukraine, and never in totalitarian, autocratic Mother Russia. The anti-Ukrainians are running the same playbook as the anti-Semites who condemn the slightest sub-optimal practice by the Israeli government or military while simultaneously countenancing the savagery in the areas controlled by Palestinian-terrorist governments and by the autocratic police state of Iran. One would think that Israel and Ukraine were the only countries in the world with a Jew as the head of state … oh, wait ….
Bitter, LaRussa put Eck in the bullpen to begin the 1987 season when he couldn’t crack the rotation, gave him a couple of spot starts, and later convinced him that he could help the team more as a full-time reliever (and made him the closer). Honeycutt was placed in the bullpen during Spring Training of 1988 and I don’t believe ever started a game again. Both were in their mid-30s.
I still have all of my 1958 cards and a lot of 57 and most of my 1959 cards. Our trips are funded through cashing in on my inflation bloated mutual fund investments.
In 1864, the Confederate guards at Andersonville prison gave ballots to the Union troops detained there. They were shocked when they voted overwhelmingly for Lincoln over McClellan.
Spencer Turnbull is 31 years old, has never been a successful starter in the Majors for more than a handful of starts at a time (he entered the season with a career 12-29 record with a 4.55 ERA), had only been in the rotation in the first place because Walker was injured, and got bumped to the bullpen when Walker returned because (i) Cristopher Sánchez is the guy that they want in the rotation this year and for years to come and (ii) Sánchez is a lefty, and four lefties in the bullpen would be too much.
As a reliever, Turnbull has had two good outings followed by a bad one, and it’s way too early to tell whether he can become an important bullpen piece for the Phillies. Plenty of starting pitchers — even mediocre ones like Turnbull — find success as relievers, and Thomson did the right thing by placing him in the bullpen (instead of sending him to AAA (assuming that Turnbull has options remaining), which was the only other viable option given the other five starters). You’re right that there will be a learning curve, and I doubt that Thomson will be bringing Turnbull in with the tying run on base and one out anytime soon, but what Thomson did was a smart baseball decision that has worked many times in the past.
So, Bitter, those Southern traitors allowed the Northerners to vote absentee in Union elections? It almost sounds as if there were Americans on both sides of the divide.
The votes did not count in the election and were not sent to their home states. It was meant to be a propaganda victory for the traitors and it failed spectacularly.
Also, the Confederates threw away the right be called Americans. It is unfortunate that they were let back in. Lincoln’s plan to “let ‘em up easy” is a disappointing part of his legacy. There should have been hangings of Davis and Lee at a minimum.
Last season, as a first-time MLB starter, the then-26-year-old Sánchez had a 3.44 ERA and 1.047 WHIP in 99 innings for the Phillies. This year, despite his atrocious 1.500 WHIP, Sánchez has a 3.43 ERA and 2.85 FIP, in part because he has been among the best pitchers in the majors at avoiding the longball (allowing only 0.2 homers per nine innings). Did you really expect Thomson to drop the promising 27-year-old Sánchez so that the guy with the 7.26 ERA last year (yes, that’s how bad Turnbull was) could stay in the rotation? I know that Turnbull pitched really well in 4 of his 6 starts this year, but keeping him in the rotation and farming out Sánchez would not have been good medium-term thinking, much less long-term thinking.
“And, as both Bitter and Jason (hi to both, by the way) have pointed out, those Putin apologists only complain of “lack of democracy” in Ukraine, and never in totalitarian, autocratic Mother Russia. The anti-Ukrainians are running the same playbook as the anti-Semites who condemn the slightest sub-optimal practice by the Israeli government or military while simultaneously countenancing the savagery in the areas controlled by Palestinian-terrorist governments and by the autocratic police state of Iran. One would think that Israel and Ukraine were the only countries in the world with a Jew as the head of state … oh, wait ….”
That is why the Putin Nurse is such a joke when she complains about “lack of democracy” in Ukraine while she kneels before an autocratic ex-KGB commie thug and dictator like Putin.
She thinks Putin is the model of democracy. You really have to be a brainwashed moron to even pretend there are fewer freedoms in Ukraine than in Russia.
I knew it was a joke, but I still don’t know what the actual crime is. The legal experts, on both sides, haven’t pinned down what crimes were actually committed.
Thanks. I thought hush money payments were legal and given the fact that The Trump Organization is a privately held company, their records are a private matter……as long as they pay the tax obligation.
It’s tough to put on a defense in a trial wherein there is no underlying crime, but Trump’s team is apparently doing a good job. Especially today.

Maybe a room with her hero and icon Putin.

These are the people Putin’s nurse hates so much.

Even Anderson Cooper was “stunned”.
That would have to be some mighty fast talking.
