  62. here is a preponderance of evidence that the Ukrainian people are fed up with this war, and now would vote Zelenskyy out of office if they could.”

    Horrible lie.

The Ukrainian people are fighting and dying for their country, a noble cause.

What is killing Ukrainians and “doing to that country” are the actions of Putin and the Russian invaders. ONLY Putin is responsible for the war and its consequences. Nobody else, not Zelensky, not Biden. Putin.

The war could end tomorrow with the Russian withdrawal from Ukraine.

The idea that Zelensky is “prolonging the war” is a lie and typical of Janzam’s pro-Putin propaganda.

Zelenksy is not unpopular and neither is the desire to win the war.

Like I said before, the lack of empathy by “Putin’s nurse” to the terrible toll this war is taking on the Ukrainian people has to mean there is a special place in hell for her.

Also Janzam is quoting pro-Russian “polls” to suggest Zelensky is unpopular.

Gallup in Oct 2023 puts him at over 80%.

“The latest Gallup result remains near to a record-high approval rating of 84 percent from September 2022, months into the war. The polling firm does not state how many people were polled, but said support for Zelensky remains strong “across all demographic groups, geographic regions and income groups.”

Ukrainian polls show him at a still very healthy 62-18 approval-disapproval, a certain drop in popularity is inevitable during a long grinding war.

And more importantly even among those who don’t completely support Zelensky, they support the war against Russia.

“This decline in the President’s popularity does not pose any real threat to Mr. Zelensky’s ability to maintain power. According to Ukrainian laws, elections are not held during wartime. But even if changes were made to the law, 67 per cent of Ukrainians do not support holding elections during wartime, says a survey by the International Republican Institute.

Yes, Ukrainians have become disillusioned with Mr. Zelensky. But as long as the enemy is on our land and as long as we continue the fight, no one will be looking for a new president. There are far more important tasks at hand: for example, removing from our lands the soldiers of the President of a neighbouring country – another Vladimir.”

“I had offers to go back to my local academy as a teacher or to work at a draft office in Odesa,” the 32-year-old from the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade told Reuters from a cramped bunker on the front line in the eastern region of Donetsk. “I said I’m not interested in these positions.”

Mango, a 28-year-old tank gunner, saw his hand shredded by shrapnel two years ago during fighting in Mariupol before he was captured by the Russians. 83. Bitter wrote: “Bad things happen when you take a starter and put him in the bullpen.”

Yeah, Tony LaRussa only won three straight AL pennants right after converting longtime starters Dennis Eckersley and Rick Honeycutt — who had 100 and 47 career complete games, respectively — into relievers. Eck only had 126 saves, a 1.50 ERA and 0.702 WHIP (not a typo) from 1988 to 1990 (and subsequently won the 1992 AL MVP Award), while the underrated Honeycutt had a 2.87 ERA, 1.134 WHIP and 26 saves while averaging 61 games and 73 innings during those three seasons.

But Bitter was 100% correct that the fact that the U.S. held presidential and congressional elections in 1864 says nothing about how unfeasible and risk-laden it would be for Ukraine to attempt that during its fight to preserve its sovereignty. In 1864, the Confederates didn’t have the ability to bomb polling stations from miles away, or to send drones to assassinate politicians campaigning for votes (and the crowds gathering to listen to them speak).

And, as both Bitter and Jason (hi to both, by the way) have pointed out, those Putin apologists only complain of “lack of democracy” in Ukraine, and never in totalitarian, autocratic Mother Russia. The anti-Ukrainians are running the same playbook as the anti-Semites who condemn the slightest sub-optimal practice by the Israeli government or military while simultaneously countenancing the savagery in the areas controlled by Palestinian-terrorist governments and by the autocratic police state of Iran. One would think that Israel and Ukraine were the only countries in the world with a Jew as the head of state … oh, wait ….

Honeycutt was placed in the bullpen during Spring Training of 1988 and I don’t believe ever started a game again. Both were in their mid-30s.

Spencer Turnbull is 31 years old, has never been a successful starter in the Majors for more than a handful of starts at a time (he entered the season with a career 12-29 record with a 4.55 ERA), had only been in the rotation in the first place because Walker was injured, and got bumped to the bullpen when Walker returned because (i) Cristopher Sánchez is the guy that they want in the rotation this year and for years to come and (ii) Sánchez is a lefty, and four lefties in the bullpen would be too much.

As a reliever, Turnbull has had two good outings followed by a bad one, and it’s way too early to tell whether he can become an important bullpen piece for the Phillies. Plenty of starting pitchers — even mediocre ones like Turnbull — find success as relievers, and Thomson did the right thing by placing him in the bullpen (instead of sending him to AAA (assuming that Turnbull has options remaining), which was the only other viable option given the other five starters). You’re right that there will be a learning curve, and I doubt that Thomson will be bringing Turnbull in with the tying run on base and one out anytime soon, but what Thomson did was a smart baseball decision that has worked many times in the past.

  92. So, Bitter, those Southern traitors allowed the Northerners to vote absentee in Union elections? It almost sounds as if there were Americans on both sides of the divide.

  93. The votes did not count in the election and were not sent to their home states. It was meant to be a propaganda victory for the traitors and it failed spectacularly.

  94. I believe Turnbull won his starts this season. Sanchez is the worst of the starters.

  95. Also, the Confederates threw away the right be called Americans. It is unfortunate that they were let back in. Lincoln’s plan to “let ‘em up easy” is a disappointing part of his legacy. There should have been hangings of Davis and Lee at a minimum.

  97. Last season, as a first-time MLB starter, the then-26-year-old Sánchez had a 3.44 ERA and 1.047 WHIP in 99 innings for the Phillies. This year, despite his atrocious 1.500 WHIP, Sánchez has a 3.43 ERA and 2.85 FIP, in part because he has been among the best pitchers in the majors at avoiding the longball (allowing only 0.2 homers per nine innings). Did you really expect Thomson to drop the promising 27-year-old Sánchez so that the guy with the 7.26 ERA last year (yes, that’s how bad Turnbull was) could stay in the rotation? I know that Turnbull pitched really well in 4 of his 6 starts this year, but keeping him in the rotation and farming out Sánchez would not have been good medium-term thinking, much less long-term thinking.

    Hi Jason,

There could be a hung jury, but I still have a question as to what was the alleged crime.”

    It was a joke, Marv.

  99. Do you watch the games or just read stats? When Sanchez goes bad, it happens quickly and he has to be pulled. Quickly.

“And, as both Bitter and Jason (hi to both, by the way) have pointed out, those Putin apologists only complain of “lack of democracy” in Ukraine, and never in totalitarian, autocratic Mother Russia. The anti-Ukrainians are running the same playbook as the anti-Semites who condemn the slightest sub-optimal practice by the Israeli government or military while simultaneously countenancing the savagery in the areas controlled by Palestinian-terrorist governments and by the autocratic police state of Iran. One would think that Israel and Ukraine were the only countries in the world with a Jew as the head of state … oh, wait ….”

That is why the Putin Nurse is such a joke when she complains about “lack of democracy” in Ukraine while she kneels before an autocratic ex-KGB commie thug and dictator like Putin.

She thinks Putin is the model of democracy. You really have to be a brainwashed moron to even pretend there are fewer freedoms in Ukraine than in Russia.

  101. Hi Jason,

I knew it was a joke, but I still don’t know what the actual crime is. The legal experts, on both sides, haven’t pinned down what crimes were actually committed.

For what is Trump on trial now? Legitimate question, not kidding.

  106. Bitter,

Thanks. I thought hush money payments were legal and given the fact that The Trump Organization is a privately held company, their records are a private matter……as long as they pay the tax obligation.

It’s tough to put on a defense in a trial wherein there is no underlying crime, but Trump’s team is apparently doing a good job. Especially today.

Not only is it legal, but EVEN if the government had a case it would still be a misdemeanor.
