Sheila Jackson Lee’s full remarks about the eclipse are absolutely wild. Not only does she claim that the Moon is made of gases, she also says there are solar systems “smaller than the Earth,” that the Moon is a planet, and that an eclipse happens when “they shut the light down.” I don’t know who “they” are but I am honestly stunned that any adult could manage to be this crushingly stupid.

“they shut down the light” – maybe she is affirming trinitarian theology. They=God, and because its plural, she means the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Godhead is in charge of the creation and placement of the moon and its orbit around earth, and so when the moon passes in front of the sun, God in three persons has shut down the light.

Back in 2020, SurveyUSA was reasonably close on Minnesota.
Final results were Biden +7.12
Here were the SUSA polls:
Oct 27: Biden +5
Oct 20: Biden +6
Oct 06: Biden +7
Sep 07: Biden +9
So their final poll was off in Trump’s favor at 2.12.
Comparatively, PPP(D)’s final poll was Biden +11; Trafalgar was Biden +3; Gravis was Biden +14; Civiqs(D) was Biden +10; St. Cloud State U was Biden +15. Research Co., Morning Consult and Targoz were all Biden +9, technically the closest to final result, being off 1.88 in Biden’s favor.

Vic, when it comes to Minnesota, I will believe it when Charlie Brown actually kicks the football as Lucy holds it. Do I believe Trump could be within 4? Sure, its possible given shift we see in polling of all states. But its down 4 bumping into a pretty hard floor. Getting that last 4 is probably the same as Biden trying to get through the last 4 of GOP support in NC.

Final SurveyUSA poll was +11 for Hillary. But remember 2016 the polls of the rust belt were essentially trash, but for Trafalgar.

DW, I don’t think Trump wins Minny, barring something cataclysmic. I do suspect that Trump will do better than last time, but only by a little.
Minny is changing a bit – the Iron Range used to be strongly D, but is now trending toward R. The state is now the typical Democrat urban area versus the rest of the state. That’s still enough to win the state, imo.

I already wrote my thoughts on the F&M poll. I could review, but to sum up, its the ONLY state poll this entire cycle that claims that Trump gets two MORE points when Kennedy is ADDED to the question, not removed. This irregularity is probably due to the small sample size.

Vic, in most states, Trump is running ahead of four years ago. In Minny, Biden won by seven, so 2-4 doesn’t seem too crazy. If I had to bet, I’d say Biden by five.

I don’t really understand the bickering about polls. No matter where the polls go they will be subject to fluctuations from now until November. There are just too many wrinkles in Trump’s path to think “he has it in the bag.” What’s encouraging, at this point in time, is he remains competitive, is beginning to have money rolling in, and seems to have a steady team of advisors and campaign aids behind him. So far he seems to be keeping any errors to a minimum, issuing an abortion declaration appropriate for the political era we are transversing. This week Trump will be in PA which again is a state he has to vigorously court, best served by personal appearances followed by local news coverage than lavishly spending money on foolish TV ads.
