  5. The potential change in Nebraska’s electoral vote distribution seems to be a big factor in the 2024 election outcome.

“Nebraska Gov. JIM PILLEN yesterday threw his support behind a bill that would deliver all five of the state’s electoral votes to the statewide winner of the presidential race rather than allocating them by congressional district.

It could shake up the presidential election. For President JOE BIDEN, it would take away what is currently his easiest path to 270: win the “blue wall” states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, plus one electoral vote from metro Omaha.”

  6. Nice to see another Republican Governor playing hardball. Stupid to gift that Omaha EV to Biden. 48 out of 50 states are winner takes all, might as well make it 49 out of 50 and stop another path Biden would have.

  7. If Nebraska does that, can assume Maine will do the same thing, making it all a wash.

  8. Not quite a wash, because then Maine might run the risk of Trump winning ALL FOUR EVs. Biden has no shot at winning Nebraska outright.

Those numbers would make McCormick a winner too.

But Trump is not going to win PA by 5.

Plus Maine views itself as an independent bunch…I doubt they would change their voting system to follow Nebraska… but who knows…

  13. Reports are that the votes are not there in Nebraska anyway for this to pass and the Republican in the legislature have not seemed all that interested in doing anything.

I think ME is a stretch for Trump. He lost it by 9. Give him Jorgensen’s vote say he lost by 7. His problem is Portland he lost Cumberland Co. by 70k votes which was approximately his losing margin statewide.

But I think it will be closer this time around, more like 2016 when he only lost by 3 and Gary Johnson got 5%.

Personally I think both Nebraska AND Maine should allocate all EVs to the winner.

And Maine and Alaska should get rid of ranked based voting.

    Sue me.

Are those reports after or before Pillen threw his support. Funny Pillen would support something going nowhere.

Looks like getting rid of Ronna is helping fundraising to the GOP.

“The Republican National Committee announces $65.6M raised by the RNC and the assortment of Trump campaign committees in March and a combined $93.1M on hand among them.”

  19. Its easy to say Trump won’t win Maine, but there has been only 1 poll in 2024, and it had a healthy sample of 691 likely voters, and it had TRUMP +6.

I am not saying he will win, because a lot can happen between now and November, but right now the polling looks good for Trump. And it makes sense that if there is a national shift (as evidenced by Trump being down only 5 in New Jersey), that Maine would close.

  20. They would still be several votes short of being able to overcome a filibuster, according to reports. The Republican in charge of what can get voted on is saying there is not enough time to do it. Pillen made a statement in order to make himself look good to Trump and for people to talk about him online, etc. It does not mean that anything is actually going to happen.

You can be pretty sure that Maine and Nebraska will both have the same rules for 2024 as they do not. Maybe they can change them down the road, but it benefits the state to have something be considered competitive in Presidential elections and that makes it unlikely that they will want to change the rules moving forward.

  22. Recently a woman was slugged in the face, breaking her jaw, while walking down a NYC street. The “slugger” was arrested and then immediately released back on the street without posting any bail. Such “leniency” is not shown, however, with misdemeanors committed over 3 years ago during the J6 protest. Instead, dramatic arrests continue to be made, the latest being a VA couple:

“They opened the door and stuck an M-4 in my face. They were in full gear,” he told Gorka. “About six guys at the door with their guns drawn.”

He said he asked for a warrant, but they told him they would show it to him when they got downtown.

He said they put him in hand and ankle cuffs with chains and walked him down his driveway and down the street. The FBI also did the same to Daphne. “Never, ever had anything like this happened,” she said.

They were then taken downtown to the FBI field office, fingerprinted, swabbed for DNA, photographed, and then interrogated, they said.

Thomas said it was apparent that the FBI had been building a case against them for entering the Capitol three years ago.

They were then taken to the federal courthouse and handed over to U.S. marshals, who questioned them again separately, he said.

Thomas said they were charged with four misdemeanors — entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds; disorderly or disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds; disorderly and disruptive conduct in a Capitol building; and demonstrating or picketing in any Capitol building.

Thomas said they were inside the Capitol building for 12 minutes.”

These kind of arrests are nothing more than political intimidation meant to humiliate and discourage people from ever going against the government again. It should open more eyes as to how government can take over policing powers in a way that does not protect rights, but instead strong arms them into unjust subjugation.

  25. I read a story about a man who ran over a wolf, taped its jaws shut, took it to a local bar to show it off, and then killed it.

It is legal to hunt wolves where he lives. However, he was charged with a misdemeanor for cruelty to an animal.

I do not hunt. I am not opposed to hunting. However, I think this sick bastard should be thrown naked to a pack of wolves armed with just a stick. Let him prove how tough he is without his duct tape and rifle.
