  3. Lake is a serious contender? Who knew?

  4. I disagre. I know you don’t like her because she is a trump backer, but AZ is 100% in play with sinema in the mix

she takes more D votes than moderate R votes who might have gone to rhe D

  5. Rasmussen says she is ahead by 4 against the other two, so I would presume that makes her a serious contender. In 2016 I scoffed at the idea that Trump was a serious contender. I was wrong.

  6. bitter. That’s a silly comment. She just lost the gov race by 17,009 votes in. A bad year

  7. Doubtful Sinema runs in the end, although I wish she would. All indications are that she is not planning to run as an Independent.

Lake cannot win a general election. Take it to the bank.

  8. The year 2022 was supposed to be a bad year for Democrats. That is how midterm elections are supposed to go, especially with Biden’s low numbers.

But it turned out to be a bad year for Republicans because of Trump endorsed losers like Kari Lake and Blake Masters.

  9. I updated the thread to include the Rasmussen numbers if Sinema doesn’t run. Lake still leads.

  10. Rasmussen has to be the only polling firm that includes “people who say they would not vote”as part of their final numbers, as they do in this survey. Including that group alters the entire calculation.

There has always been debate about Likely Voters vs Registered Voters, but why are they including Unlikely Voters?

  11. I think you’re wrong about this year, especially in Arizona. Illegal Im migration is a big deal there. She lost by .5% to a popular dem

I think this is a true toss up

  12. It was widely believed that Hobbs had run a horrible campaign in 2022. People were saying it was the worst campaign for any major candidate that cycle. She refused to debate, even while being down in the polls. But she still won and Lake lost, despite the final polls showing Lake was ahead by about 3 points.

The liberal they are going to dominate now is not going to try to ignore Lake like Hobbs did. he is going to go right after her and expose all her craziness. I wish there was another option for the people there.

  17. Republican candidates across the country this year, especially in a race like Arizona, are going to be faced with a massive, overwhelming financial disadvantage, unlike anything that has been seen before.

Despite what polls show, Democrats are raising record amounts of money and Republicans have been struggling. Lake is a horrible fundraiser.

We already know the new leadership of the RNC is saying that every dollar is going to go to Trump and not to down ballot efforts. The question is whether this RNC money will go towards Trump’s legal bills instead of a campaign at all.

  24. I think Doug Ducey would have been a strong candidate for the U.S. Senate in Arizona, but of course some others here would find him unacceptable.

Those who lost primaries in Arizona in 2022 for Governor and U.S. Senate because Trump endorsed the opponents would have very likely beat the Democrats.

What once made up the Republican Party is incredibly divided today. This is what Trump has wrought.

  25. Lots of reported “glitches” and machine malfunctions in the 2022 AZ election on Election Day, mostly in Republican precincts. Long lines of voters, outside these voting places, were disenfranchised because they ended up not being able to cast their votes, having to leave the lines to go to work or having their votes miscounted or damaged.

Dems, OTOH, banked their votes early, circumventing these problems and used voting by mail more than traditional republicans. This is why there is now a push by Republican leaders to change the habitual way most republicans vote, resorting instead to the ploys used by Dems ——> ballot harvesting, early voting and mailing in their vote.

Of course most legacy media outlets file any irregularities or outright voting machine manipulations under “conspiracy theories,” which automatically discourage any further investigations into the matter. Even when recently it was proven how easily voting machines could be corrupted, changing votes with a pencil, in front of a judge, the media kind of sighed and moved on.

”Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) remains adamant that his primary residency is in California despite recent findings showing the Democrat has claimed his Maryland home as his primary residence for two decades.” hence an appropriate application of “carpetbagger.” Furthermore, Schiff is considered the biggest liar in Congress, earning him nothing but derogatory descriptions of his performance as a politician.

  33. He has held elective office in California so there is apparently not a legal issue and your definition does not fit. Most politicians, especially from the west coast, have homes near DC. You could have used a different term if that is the point you were trying to get at. Something like “Maryland resident” would have not caused confusion, even if it might not totally be accurate.

But thank you for the explanation. It does explain your thinking. I am glad you were willing to do it. Can you also now clarify if you agree with those who have said the Holocaust is a myth?

  34. I just know that Schiff compared to his two major Democrat opponents is far preferable on Ukraine and Israel. We all know that California is going to elect a Democrat to the Senate. He is far less objectionable than Katie Porter or Barbara Lee.

But those who have affinity for Russia and Hamas might disagree.

  40. The Holocaust insinuation is as despicable as was the Holocaust itself. Two historical events capturing my attention as a child was Hitler’s attempt to extinguish the Jewish people, and the Dems legislation to deny blacks their human and voting rights during the Jim Crow Laws. These horrific events exemplify the phrase “man’s inhumanity to man.” And, the coward behind the “anonymous” persona enjoys slandering more than being an honest, open commentator on this blog.

  41. Well, it is good that you finally clarified that you do not deny it happened. Now, it does not need to be asked again. You did indeed post links from Holocaust denial websites in the past though and from writers who espoused such theories. I will believe that you were not aware of those views.

You should continue to be called out for any use of anti-Semitic tropes.

  42. We do indeed have a long history of witnessing “man’s inhumanity to man.”

In 2024, two of the major actors in such tactics are Hamas and Vladimir Putin’s Russia. All people of conscience should want to see them and their evil eradicated and should stand by those who have been victimized by them and who are fighting back for their own survival.
