The telefreako saga continues.
What are the chances that a private plane took off from Austin and flew to tiny Hamilton airport in Ohio which is 20 mins from the Lindner Center, a private inpatient mental health treatment facility, and then turned around and flew back to Austin landing yesterday morning at 10:24am right before James Talarico magically reappears at the Austin City Limits music festival that afternoon? Lindner Center also happens to be the same facility that Talarico’s good friend and Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo spent 7 weeks in when she had a mental breakdown 3 years ago… So many coincidences!

I have received your October 7 letter, which adds to the mounting body of evidence of your complete paucity of knowledge about financial markets. Rather than take my suggestion of studying introductory economics, you have continued your letter-writing crusade and participation in tabloid fodder about the Treasury Department.
Unfortunately, it is difficult to treat your concerns as sincere. As the federal funds rate climbed from near zero to its highest level in 22 years, with inflation hitting a 40-year high, you were a cheerleader for the Biden Administration’s reckless spending. You blamed the economic consequences on the Federal Reserve, rather than your own irresponsible fiscal policies. Your view of the economy depends on who occupies the White House, but your woeful understanding of the issues is consistent.
While you voted for a $5 trillion tax hike on everyday Americans, the Working Families Tax Cuts continue to deliver for families and workers across the country. The average refund this filing season was over $3,400, an increase of 11 percent over the previous year. More than 30 million workers claimed NO Tax on Overtime, more than 7 million claimed No Tax on Tips, and more than 37 million seniors claimed their enhanced deduction. Here are the three counter-arguments of cope about the Talarico tape: A) There is another James Talarico or someone with a very similar name who was recently discharged from that facility (pretty damn weird coincidence given the plane situation) B) The employee was just trying to get Rhein to screw off (unlikely because she seemed patient and never talked to him before, not sure she’d pretend to violate HIPAA for that) C) The call is entirely fake (despite the call log, previous shown attempts/call recordings to the facility, and despite the fact it is a trusted source who has never done anything like this before, and does not want a giant lawsuit on his hands) I think it’s evident that there is objectively at least a 70% chance Talarico was at that facility for some amount of time, whether he was sick earlier in his period of absence or not. The odds that the Talarico campaign would just go dark for almost 2 weeks without providing any updates, or not try to milk the flu for fundraising/political purposes is strange. If the flu was so bad to warrant hospitalization, there would be evidence of that (and possibly a “Get Well, James” rally near the hospital). The guy likely has a flu shot as he is diabetic, and I just can’t see him having an “urgent care takes care of it” flu that warrants him going dark for 12 days. If he truly wanted to “not infect anyone”, he likely still does telerallies. Not to mention the plane that checks out with the airline he frequently flew arriving to Austin that morning from an airport in suburban Cincinnati (strange coincidence), and the fact that his friend in Texas had used the Ohio facility before. Let’s not be naive here either way, and if more evidence comes out, this cover-up is objectively more corrupt than anything Paxton has ever done. Ever. The race is virtually over based on that alone.

Jhole,
I have eaten at the Final Cut exactly one time.
When I was a legislator, the track hosted the local legislators to lobby us about some proposed bill to help the casino.
It is excellent food. It is hugely expensive. I would NEVER pay thst kind of money to eat there personally.
I go to the track one time a year for annual WV Breeders Classic big event. Invited by good friend who was a veterinarian for many years in Charles Town and did a lot of work on race horses. He bought several tables each year and invited his friends. Some years we have also gotten tuxed up and went to thr dinner/dance as well. Fun times.
I do not gamble, except when I go to this event. $2 bets, and occasional $5 bet.
We gave probably gone to 6 or 8 of these these annual events in the last 8 or so years.
Other than that, I may have been to the track maybe 5 timed in the last 40 years.

WHY CANNOT THINGS BE SIMPLE?
Son and i have gone to several WVU bassetball games a year back a couple years ago. Tickers were maybe $30-35 each. Parking near coliseum within walking distance is $20.
********
Decided to treat son to see OUR FIRST EVER WVU football game at Morgantown
(3 1/2 hour one-way drive to Morgantown).
LAST WEEK, Ordered tickets for son and I to go to wvu football game in Morgntown for Oct. 17 vs Cincinnati.
AT NOON. So we will have to leave at about 7 a.m. Yuck.
Discover it is homecoming.
Discover that the tickets are expensive– @$500 and up for a ticket, so fish around online and find seats for @ $300 for the pair of nosebleed seats.
Discover that parking is an issue. The closeby WVU parking lots are already sold out–and VERY PRICEY.. Tickets to park at other places are going for $400 to $600 for this one game.
Discover that if I park at a shopping center several miles away I can park for free(?) and pay $20 for a shuttle to get us to the game. But no gurantee i will find parking spot there. I could park downtown Morgantown in any city garage for $5 and either get a taxi or possible shuttle (for some price) to get us to the stadium some miles away. No guarantee I will find spots at the parking garage.
I discover they do not send our ticket via email THAT I CAN FRICKIN PRINT OUT and bring with me.
Instead, I have to do a bunch of online rigamarole to access tickers electronically that takes me a LONG time to do. Password created to access my tickets must BE EXACTLY 14 characters long. IT MUST include ONE AND ONLY ONE capital letter, must include one and JUST ONE number, and one and JUST ONE symbol.
But tickets cannot be printed and I must find tickets on phone and show on my phone at the gate at game time to get in.
*********
This will be my first and last football game live at WVU or anywhere.

At the track last night, the only two races one or both $2 show tickets did not pay off was the one where my horse got badly bumped (formal complaint lodged that stewards had to look at and rearranged which horses came in 1, 2 ,3, 4), and one other.
The other thing unusual last night was one antsy horse managed to thrash around in the starting gate, break out of the front of the closed gate, injuring itself, injuring the horse next to it causing boyh horses to be scratched. And injuring a jockey on another mount still in the rave and delayed the start of the race considerably while walked the scratched horses off the track and they got another jockey to be a substitute jockey…
