The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a case this fall on the question of whether ICE can detain illegal aliens detained in the interior of the country — more than 100 miles from the border — if those aliens snuck across the border and were never subject to “inspection” by border officials. Persons “seeking admission” must be detained pending resolution of their case status. The issue is whether someone who has entered and remained, and take not steps to begin the process of obtain lawful status is to be considered under a statute as still “seeking admission” by virtue of his/her remaining in the U.S. — sometimes for years or decades — and building a life here. Is an illegal alien present in the U.S. “seeking admission” merely by refusing to ever leave on his own?

  14. Sometimes a good way to test the generic ballot accuracy is to look at a few races that are NOT in play but where there is some polling, either a couple of independent pollsters or dueling internal poll releases. We have the latter with NY-23, the Buffalo suburbs and southern tier of NY. Trump won this district +21 two years ago. PPP-D released an internal poll showing the Democrat behind by 17, and Cygnal did the internal for the Republican and they claim his lead is +21. So even if you average the two, +19 isn’t far off from the Trump margin of +21 two years ago.

  16. Here in VA-2 it seems that the Democrat, Luria, must be winning in a landslide over the Republican incumbent Jen Kiggans. I have seen all of one Luria yard signs, but Kiggans signs are all over the place. Listened to a radio station and only heard Kiggans ads.

So I guess Luria figures she will win because everyone ranks this as LIkely-D and she doesn’t have to spend any money.

Kiggans is pounding away on Luria who was in congress before when she said she would stop insider trading, but instead did it herself and made millions. But I guess Luria doesn’t have to respond to the very effective ad.
