“Elon Musk to spend big bucks to help Ken Paxton. The world’s first trillionaire will spend up to $200 million in Texas.”
It appears Musk is all in getting Texas thru the GE. I doubt he would be spending as much if Establishment-Cornyn was on the ticket.”
So Janzam is happy Musk is going to have to spend $200 million in Texas to beat a certified commie whacko?
He wouldn’t need to spend ANY money if Cornyn was on the ticket.
This is $200 million that could be spent on other candidates, not propping up Mr. Baggage.

I guess Texans are still not paying attention…….

Actually, that poll is probably good news for Paxton.
I doubt Hinojosa is tied with Abbott, so Paxton is probably not losing by 5.
But even if he is tied, what other reason could there be besides he is a really bad candidate?

I didn’t watch the convention, but CNN is fact checking Trump’s speech so it must have been good.
Also supposedly Bessent tore the Dems a new a-hole.

I recommend the Alone finale to anyone who watches the show.
If I ever get called on the show, I will make bagging a moose my first priority.
Assuming there will be moose to be bagged, might be difficult if its in Chile or Argentina.

If I recall correctly, YouGov polls are entirely online.

Do they use guns or arrows to kill the moose? I think it should be a knife to make it fair.

It seems that on every episode on Alone and about 50 days in, the med checks starts to show the contestants looking like they came from Auschwitz.

Why is Abbott doing so well in Texas? Are the voters only paying attention to the race for Governor but not the Senate race?

In the Super Bowl against Seattle MVP runner-up Drake Mayne was sacked six times and threw two interceptions.
Last night he was sacked three times and threw for three interceptions.
I don’t think Mayne wants to face the Seahawks anytime soon.
PS-great win for Seattle with the backup quarterback.

Now President Trump wants to re-name New Mexico to New America. Why didn’t I think of that. Oh, wait a minute. I did. I suggested the same about a couple of weeks about the same time Trump wanted to re-name Lake Ontario to Lake America.
Silly me.

Arrow.
No firearms are allowed.
Contestants get to pick a limited number of items to take. They can choose among items such as knives, axes, shovels, tarps, fishing nets, pots, etc.
For this challenge you could pick ONE of the following in the fishing and hunting category
Fishing kit (300 yards of fishing line and 25 barbless/barbed hooks)
1 Gill net
1 Bow and a set of arrows

It hasn’t dawned on Janzam yet that Abbott appeals to more people than just the “base” she talks about.
He actually appeals to a wider swath of Rs and more indies than Paxton does.
This isn’t rocket science.

New Donald.
Yes, I know, there is already a ND.
That will have to be renamed NT. New Trump.

Some idiot just said that the Clancy case DA should be “careful about retryiing the case”because he is running for re-election as a R.
There is only one problem. He is running unopposed.
Somehow I don ‘t think he is worried..
“Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz, the DA behind the prosecution of murder charges again Lindsay Clancy, was born in Brockton and raised in West Bridgewater. He currently lives in Marshfield, where he and his wife raised two sons.
The son of a plumber, he attended Boston College, playing for the hockey team as a walk-on. He went on to graduate from Suffolk University Law School.
Before he was DA, Cruz worked in a private practice, then as an Assistant District Attorney in Plymouth County.
A Republican, Cruz was first elected District Attorney of Plymouth County in 2001. He was reelected in 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022, running twice unopposed, and winning between 57% and 67% of the vote when facing a challenger. He was unopposed in the Sept. 2 Republican primary and does not have a Democratic Challenger for the general election in November.
In 2022, Cruz was elected president of the Massachusetts District Attorneys Association. He is the longest-serving of the state’s 11 district attorneys.

They all get a ferro rod. Some items you get no matter what like the sleeping bag, they are considered essential.

They also get a choice of rations.
2 lbs of pemmican
Biltong
Hardtack biscuits
Chocolate
3 lb block of salt.
For any inland location I think I would choose the salt, because you can use it to preserve food.
The rest of the stuff is not going to do you very good in a 90 day challenge. Of course, it keeps you from going hungry the first couple of days

They also get bear spray and either flares or an air horn.

Actually, the ferror rod is considered one of the ten items. How do I know this….Baha from Alone Africa choose not to have one. As did a three or four contestants from previous shows that relied on their fire making talents.

According to AI the ferro rod was not included in the 10 items for Alone 13
However Ziga did swap it out for something else..
Typical 10-Item Gear List for Season 13

The problem is not SCOTUS.
lIt was the Missouri SC that overturned the map.
SCOTUS is just following the long standing principle of deferring to the states on elections.
Now WHY would the MO SC overturn it is the burning question.
They say it would need a referendum, except nothing in the MO state constitution mandates a referendum.

Rereading this, I think JG might be right, maybe the ferro rod IS one of the items that can chosen.

I think that work requirements should be reinstated for welfare benefits. That helped balance the budget under Clinton/Gingrich.
I also propose means testing social security. And, giving workers the option to opt out to forgo any future benefits but to no longer have to pay FICA.

No. You pay into it, you should get it back. Otherwise it just becomes a wealth tax.

No. The problem is even if you opt out if you run out of money for retirement you are going to be a burden on society anyway, you will still cost the government money because they won’t let you starve or deny medical care.

Don’t really care about what Clancy’s attorney says. Probably listed as legal positioning and posturing going forward.
More interested in the interview of three jurors about the one male holdout that kept saying he had doubt about the state’s case but couldn’t move because of the manner of the deaths of those kids. That basically went against the judge’s instructions.
