I suppose its a valid question to ask why a country would build villages down at the bottom of these ravines with steep mountains on both sides where the mountain tops are covered with huge glaciers. Sort of like here on the east coast where some of the outer barrier sand islands had huge hotels built out there in early 20th century and now they are washed away. Not a shocker.

Before and after satellite images of that Nepal-China border station where you could see people running for their lives before everything disappeared under water and mud:
now I understand the logic of the victims. In the image the river is Y shaped, with the border station at the intersection in the middle. The water was actually coming from the right branch of the Y, meaning people were running up the left branch of the Y hoping the water would turn and go down the Y to the south. But there was simply too much water and it went both ways and overwhelmed everyone.
One eerie part of the video was all the birds that were scattering in every direction in the moments before the water hit.

For decades, I taught with 2 gals named Nancy both of whom became close friends of ours.
WIFE taught for decades with 2 Nancy’s both of whom became close friends.
At church we had two women named Nancy.
Plus ther are at least 3 other women named Nancy in various organizations my wife belongs to.
But wife gets Pissed if I ask “which Nanacy?”
If I ever file for divorce, one of the grounds will be mental duress when wife never uses the last names of anyone when conversing with husband.

The reason many Rs “don’t like the candidate” is that Paxton is an unpopular, baggage ridden, controversial nominee.
If he is in trouble with Rs, it also means he is in even bigger trouble with Indies.
You can win in TX without Indies, but you can’t win if you don’t have Rs united for you.

The Dems have been throwing money at Talarico, hand over fist. Paxton, however, has been able to survive because of grassroots support, against the obstruction of funding by the R leadership – the same leadership who lavished tons of money on Cornyn’s failed primary. As I posted earlier, the intensity of the GE begins after Labor Day. This will be the time which will truly indicate Paxton’s strength or weakness. I’m counting on the energy of Republican activists to pull him through, beating Talarico.

some of these Nepal flood videos have people commenting about how the victims at that border crossing station would have suffocated in the mud/water. But I don’t think so. They were killed instantly by blunt force trauma…getting hit directly by water, rocks, and mud, along with debris moving super fast, it would be been like a plane crash death. Instant.

Regarding the Clancy trial —-> people in the courtroom yesterday thought the prosecution gave the most persuasive argument over the defense. One of the jurors even teared up when hearing the gruesome details of the children’s deaths.

Texas is only 12% black. About 2.2 million black voters, but only 57% voted in 2024, will be lower in a mid-term. Say 50% that makes it 1.1 million black votes. Say 90% Dem, so roughly 1 million votes.
A 15% drop in enthusiasm could mean 150k votes less for Talarico. I think that may be high. 10% means 100k votes.
The election would have to be extremely close for that to matter.
And here is the deal, it should not be that close.
Again, if you need Jasmine Crockett to make the difference in Texas, you might have the wrong candidate.

If we have reached the point where people think its okay to just trick a little boy into getting his privates cut off, then why are we not at the point where people think its okay to just execute a murderer whether or not the person is insane? If they are truly insane, and they killed someone, they might do it again, so in interest of public safety, put that insane person down. Paxton may not be spending time raising money. However, he has prosecuted hospitals for gender affirming care, insisting on free transition care from said hospital. He also advocated for a surrogate mother to not abort the baby she was carrying, when ordered to do so by the couple hiring her. He acts on carrying out and supporting conservative policies, while Cornyn devotes himself to conservative lip service, but shies away from anything controversial like backing the SAVE Act.
