    And of course it was about 10 years ago when the Harvard prof published a papyrus fragment of a Coptic text that claimed Jesus had a wife. Almost immediately a professor in Indiana released proof that it was a forgery and Harvard had to retract it. Supposedly was a jagged edge fragment, but none of the jagged edges had any partial letters…a clue that most any college Freshman might have noticed….and the writing proved to be identical to an already proven forgery.

    But once again, how many people see the original story with all its media attention, compared to how many see the quietly released retraction?

    I remember a lecture by an expert on James Buchanan. Not sure why a historian would want to be an expert on James Buchanan but he was. A member of the audience asked if Buchanan was gay. He answered that he had read every surviving letter to and by Buchanan many times. The historian also admitted he was gay but there was no evidence that Buchanan was.

    The first choice of the Marxists is to claim Jesus is a hoax and all religions are hoaxes anbd the only correct religion is the State (except lately for Islam when convenient).

    But if that won’f fly then the next best thing is to claim Jesus was black, gay, and a communist.

    There is a theology called “Deep Incarnation” that says that the “Word become Flesh” means that God became all flesh in a spiritual sense. And then suffered through each person’s pain paying the price for each one’s sin. So, in that sense, Jesus incarnate would have become both male and female.

    Some take “Deep Incarnation” to the point of the “Word becoming ALL flesh”. So in that case, Jesus also became all animal life including Llamas.

    People who don’t know anything about the Bible can twist it to say whatever they want. Word became Flesh (John 1:14) simply refers to the birth of Jesus Christ. Born a baby boy who was circumcised the 8th day, and grew up to be a man who died on a Roman cross.

    Another canard that leftists sometimes throw out there is the suggestion that the early Christian church advocated for communism. Why? There is a verse in the book of Acts saying that they pooled their resources and had all things in common.

    But what people neglect to mention is the fact that these were Jewish believers who, as punishment, had been cut off from the Jewish synagogue (see John 9) and the social safety net that it represented, and were left sometimes with nothing. So the these believers banded together out of love for one another and pooled resources so that none of them would go hungry or be in want of basic necessities.

    Ironically, this is the same behavior found in small communities in the former Soviet union, where the local people banded together the same way to try and keep everyone alive to survive the communist system that was oppressing them. The early Christian church did not advocate for an oppressive communist form of government. They were instead trying to survive while being oppressed.

    There is this wonderful interpretive principle called “authorial intent.” But years ago, leftists both in politics and religion pushed hard to shift away from this to the reader determining the intent of words written by someone else long ago.

    This opened the door for them to re-write the US constitution without having to change any of the words, and opened the door for them to re-write the Bible without changing its words. But in the end, this is all fantasy as authorial intent still stubbornly stands.
