I thought Cash Cow made an excellent point. If that had been Chuck Schumer instead of Carl McDaniel, the Bison would have gotten the death penalty.

Actually according to KOMO news (Seattle ABC) Mr. McDaniel is the Commissioner for the Columbia Valley Water District. He and his grandson were minding their own business and making camp when the bison came charging at them.

I was impressed by Walt’s description of his wife’s achievements yesterday.
As a result, I am moving her up to the top 5% tier of Walt’s wives, along with his 57th wife Gruna, who single handedly clubbed two saber tooth tigers trying to enter the cave.

I watched the video.
They weren’t making camp, they were taking pictures from a distance. However, just before the incident, the bison had charged other visitors.
In my view, they were still too close to an obviously aggressive animal and should have moved on.
Here is the video. The bison is acting aggressively, the man and his grandson are walking by and stop to take pictures. Personally, I would have moved away at that point

The bison is staring right at them as they stopped to take pictures. I think if they had kept moving they would have been ok.

Russia is bleeding money in this war. They are probably having to offer a lot of social services in the occupied areas, they are losing a lot of equipment on a daily basis, they are now forced to spend a lot of money repairing damaged infrastructure and even if the sanctions are not totally effective, there is a cost. Even if Putin doesn’t care about the human cost, the Russians have to spend money on death benefits, pensions, medical care, etc. resulting from the high number of dead and wounded.
In the end, Putin might be faced with the same quandary as the Soviet Union, butter or arms.

I am opposed to the congress passing legislation to make daylight savings time permanent abd not change clocks twice a year.
It violates my LIBERTY AND FREEDOM.
I think all Americans can choose to decide for themselves whether to turn clocks up or back an hour.
Of course congress could add an amendment saying illegal aliens MUST turn their clocks up a d back twice a year, and failure to do so is a deportable offense.

Very nice and finally some tariffs even I can support.
“A rare display of bipartisanship unfolded in the Senate on Tuesday as a dozen Republican and Democratic senators stood shoulder to shoulder to unveil sweeping legislation aimed at squeezing Russia’s war economy, framing the bill as the defining legislative legacy of the late Senator Lindsey Graham.
One after another, lawmakers approached the podium to remember the South Carolina Republican, who died suddenly over the weekend, recalling his persistent push over more than a year to forge a bipartisan compromise that could win President Trump’s support. Sen. Katie Britt, Republican of Alabama, said Graham had worked “tirelessly, relentlessly” to bring the measure together and believed it would become the most consequential legislation of his career. Sen. Roger Wicker, Republican of Mississippi, called it Graham’s greatest achievement in the cause of preserving peace in Europe. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, the top Democrat on the Foreign Relations Committee, urged Congress to seize what she called a narrow window to pass the legislation.
The bill itself reflects months of negotiations among Senate Republicans and Democrats and the Trump Administration to strike a balance between punishing Moscow and preserving the President’s flexibility as he seeks an end to the war in Ukraine. The sweeping measure would impose mandatory sanctions on President Vladimir Putin, senior Russian political and military leaders, oligarchs, state-owned enterprises and foreign companies supporting Russia’s defense industrial base. It would also target Russia’s financial sector, energy industry, and the “shadow fleet” of aging vessels Moscow uses to evade existing sanctions.
Its most novel provision would authorize Trump to impose tariffs of up to 100% on the five largest purchasers of Russian oil and natural gas—currently China, India, Slovakia, Hungary and Azerbaijan. Countries that buy less than 15% of Russia’s natural gas exports and are demonstrably reducing those purchases would be exempted from the tariffs. The legislation would also allow penalties on those helping facilitate Russian energy sales”

read a summary from someone who knows 1000 times more about soccer than I do, and it sounds like the mistake England made was when Argentina subbed to go heavy on offense to catch up being down 0-1, then England subbed out for extra defenders, and thereby ceded the control of the field and any further ability to score, while making an Argentina score more inevitable.
