So RRH Elections just came out with their updated House rankings. They have Begich in Alaska as only Lean R, this despite polling showing a commanding lead. Even Siena College says its Begich +12.

Collins historically has always trailed her opponent in the summer, or at least in 2020 she trailed bad. Now, she is ahead.

Bridge results today.
Scores ranged from top score of 5190 to low of 920.
Top 2 scores win money ($5 and $3).
Second highest score was 3440, followed by a 3340, then me with a 3330. So I was in the hunt for #2 but got nosed out. I stumbled a little coming out of the clubhouse turn after lunch.
I will do extra mental and physical training between now and Thursday when I next play bridge.

sorry, but I cannot take the risk of inviting you to one of wife’s soirees (HOA rules and such, plus you may go off on someone for no reason and call them all sorts of names, AND if I would convince my wife to invite you and things went south, then my wife may cancel my work contract to do all the things necessary to get ready for future soirees……
Last month I did broach the subject of maybe inviting you, the wife said she is in to multiculturalism which is a plus for you being originally from some exotic place in South America, but first she wanted to see 5 years of jason’s HHR posts to take a look at to determine your demeanor and interaction with others in social settings…(so ther is THAT little problem…).
…. I personally think it would be nice for Cash Cow to meet Lupita and they could romp around together.

Odds and Ends..
–Dave Wissing (original founder of original HHR page) a d is family are now in Paris France.
–it is now raining ing steady and nice here again. Everytime I put the A.erican flag back out, it starts raining again and I have to go bri.g it in again.
–the HARD raining last night .ust have resulted in a river of eater running through my backyard and it washed out about 70 feet of mulch that was lining the rocks and pavers that form the edge of the flower. Ed’s. Left big piles if mulch in the yard. Also washed out some of the pea gravel on the bee walkway I just built a couple months ago.
–the warehouse fire in Parkerburg WV is now on the national news. It is still burning, but about 1/10 of the huge smoke plume is white smoke since they are now starting to put water on the actual fire.

Also, my younger son was told to go home from work today…because he had worked 8 hours straight without taking any breaks or stopping for lunch. They will nor let you work more than 8 hours if you have not taken any breaks.
Also, son got a second certificate this evening in his drug rehab program for successfully completing his outpatient drug rehab program.
He now only has to go to drug counseling classes, etc of just two evenings a week…plus the usual 2 days a week drug testing and continue seeing his therapist/doctor..
He has been drug and alcohol free for 310 days now….

Plus older son in Wisc. has finished the landscaping/ pavers/paver wall project on the front of his house around the now big porch he and his 16 year ild daughter built.

Sad way to go out. I still don’t get why some many Americans were gun ho on soccer. Personally, it’s ok. My daughters were through years and years with our parks and recreation league. I enjoyed the games and the practices. But beyond that, soccer was just ok.
Back to baseball.

I think the problem I have with soccer is that it seems like a lot of work to move the ball up the field and then the defenders kick it or the goalie throws it all the way back. I assume there must be plays but it just seems like chaos with very little scoring. It’s just not for me.

US got rattled when Belgium scored 60 seconds after the US had tied the game.
Took away all the momentum. Plus Pulisic and Balogun didn’t rise to the occasion.
Maybe it would have been better if Balogun had not been allowed to play, the US trained all week assuming he wouldn’t play and the controversy was a distraction.

I think Argentina will beat Egypt.
But I have no idea on Colombia vs. Switzerland, both are playing well.
But the cream rises to the top, it’s not rocket science.
Assuming Argentina and Colombia win we would have

England. 4
Morocco. 7
Belgium. 9
Colombia. 13 (or Switzerland 16)

In other words, of the top 4 teams, all are still in.
And only Norway is not in the top 15.

I have a bet on Norway to win the WC, made before it started. My other bet, the US, is history.
I think it is improbable they would beat Argentina IF they made it to the semifinal (will have to beat England) or France or Spain in the final (that is what the bracket path shows).
But if they do I will get $3800.
