Emerson is one of the better university pollsters, but they still have a couple point skew to the blue.
They missed the TN-7 race by almost 7, and a few more votes are still trickling in.
And again, even though Trump won the district by 20, the actual spread in the district as calculated by Charlie “Toupee” Cook, the district shakes out as GOP+10.
Van Epps won by 9. Very slight underperformance by the GOP, understandable given the amount of outside money the Dems spent on this race that normally would not be there in a regular race.
I had prepared a careful speech about the grave danger the GOP is in given a two point win in this race.
The crumpling of paper sound you hear is me throwing away that speech. The GOP did okay last night. But this means only that they need to fight harder than ever to try and hold the house next year. Trump needs to use the bully pulpit to push his achievements and inflation needs to drop and hold.

Here are Gandhi’s seven social sins. Interested in knowing the views of HHR posters on this.
Do you think, in general, Democrat or Republican policies and philosophy are guilty of committing and advancing any of these social sins?
Like DEI, the multi-generational welfare system, quota systems, reparations for Blacks, guaranteed wage or income for all, open borders, etc.
Examples? Go!
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
“Mahatma Gandhi identified seven social sins in his 1925 newspaper Young India: wealth without work, pleasure without conscience, knowledge without character, commerce without morality, science without humanity, worship without sacrifice, and politics without principles. These “blunders” describe a society where people pursue activities without moral responsibility, conscience, or principles.
Updating this to 2025 [EXACTLY 100 YEARS LATER, what would YOU AD is a social sin?
MY THOUGHTS of additions are:
–manipulating the media to hide truth to get personal gain
–taking violent action to violate the law and destroy the constitutional rights of others because you feel some action is destroying the rights of some person or group
–acquiring taxpayer funds to fraudulently enrich yourself personally
–-inciting violence through continually describing those you oppose by using terms like fascist, racist, misogynist, homophobe, xenophobe, hater, etc. because on the facts, you are on the losing side of the argument
–believing, in any way shape or form, that the Biden presidency accomplished great and positive things for the U.S.
–voting for any Democrat, and actually believing they are a moderate who has your best interests at heart
What about adding something about saying you believe in and trust science, but also believe the non-scientific nonsense that there being 123 different sexes?
or
Believing in the right for women to control their bodies and abort their fetus child, but also believing that a parent has no right to be told or object that their 6 year old is being taught by the public schools that they are not the sex they were born as?

Wealth without work: Gaining wealth through manipulation or without contributing any labor.
I would agree if the “manipulation” violated laws, involved corruption, etc.

Here is the list of Democratic Party candidates for the 2028 POTUS race. At least the list as it is today based on early polling samples already being run. Other and unexpected candidates may well join the race, but for now, here is the list of their champions:
Buttigieg – No career accomplishments, entirely a DEI candidate.
Newsom – Should be renamed “Nerosom” as he watched LA burn and did nothing.
Ocasio-Cortez – Bug-eyed loon of NYC.
Harris – Enough said.
Pritzker – This failed governor has no national appeal.
Sanders – What would he be? 112 years old or something?
Booker – No national appeal
Whitmer – Another failed governor.
Walz – A failed corrupt governor.
Shapiro – No way he would get the nomination of the party of antisemitism
Klobuchar – Got nowhere last time she tried
Beshear – Viewed as too moderate for the times and will get nowhere.
At this point its likely to be Newsom or Harris.
But I have lived a long time and followed many campaigns, and never before have I seen such a pathetic list of candidates. This bunch makes Al Gore, Bill Clinton, John Kerry, John Edwards, Dick Gephardt, Joe Lieberman, Howard Dean, and a few others who have run in the D primary look like giants.

And also,
What do you think about Buddha’s noble eightfold path (and the four Noble Truths)?
“The Eightfold Path is a Buddhist practice for ending suffering, comprising eight principles: Right View, Right Intention, Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, and Right Concentration. It is traditionally divided into three groups: Wisdom (Right View, Right Intention), Ethics (Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood), and Mental Discipline (Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, Right Concentration). ”
***[Buddhism’s Four Noble Truths are: the truth of suffering, its cause (craving or thirst), its cessation (Nirvana), and the path to its cessation, which is the Noble Eightfold Path. These truths form the core of Buddhist philosophy, outlining the human condition and providing a way to overcome it through a practice of moderation and mindfulness.
The Four Noble Truths
The Truth of the Path to the Cessation of Suffering: The truth that there is a path that leads to the end of suffering. This path is the Noble Eightfold Path, a set of principles to follow to achieve enlightenment.
The Truth of Suffering: The truth that suffering, dissatisfaction, and impermanence are inherent parts of life. This includes physical pain, the agony of aging and sickness, the grief of loss, and the frustration of not getting what one desires.
The Truth of the Origin of Suffering: The truth that suffering is caused by craving, attachment, and ignorance. Specifically, it is caused by the “thirst” or craving for sensory pleasures, for existence, and for non-existence.
The Truth of the Cessation of Suffering: The truth that suffering can be ended, and a state of liberation (Nirvana) can be reached by eliminating its cause.]

Apparently Kash/Bongino took the J6 bomber cold case away from the original FBI agents investigating it. Their reasons were they wanted “fresh eyes” on the case. So, after languishing for 4 1/2 years under the former regime’s agents, and going nowhere, it took 6 weeks to solve who the pipe bomber was under the Kash/Bongino changes made. It is speculated the original investigation was stalled when they couldn’t hang it around a MAGA supporter’s neck, connecting Trump to the incident.

IMO, J6 has always been rooted in an orchestrated event, by the Dems, to counter any evidence of 2020 election fraud/irregularities from being presented by House members. Taking a large crowd of protesters, disorienting them by flash grenades/rubber bullets and gestures by Capitol police to enter the building, made it easy to turn a protest into a riot in the eyes of an eager media to do so. Consequently, Trump supporters essentially became canon fodder to exploit and throw into jail, sometimes for years.

UPDATE SO FAR ON SUSPECT J6 PIPE BOMB GUY
-First, very little is out there yet on who he is, etc. The only fact reported is that he graduated from a certain high school in that county… Nothing about what he does for work (if anything), does he own a car, or have a drivers license, a girlfriend, or any friends, etc. [MY guess is that is if “on the spectrum” autism, but high end] I doubt he has his own car, prolly no girl friend…no hobbies other than making piple bombs.
Secondly, the comments people make to the various news articles are mainly:
–I am sure it is a MAGA guy
–Trump will pardon him
–this is not the person, this is a distraction from Epstein files
and other interesting comments include:
–they say he had anarchist ties, and he was antifa which starts a big debate in comments that antifa is not anarchist, antifa is opposed to anarchists…
–one supposed retired lawyer saying in his comment that it is not illegal to have pipe bombs in your possession. And that the case against this guy will fall apart since the pipe bombs failed to detonate and (he assumes) not operable.
–a neighbor was interviewed and says he is definitely not the J6 pipe bomb guy because he has very short legs
–he wore shorts and crocks outside in the winter
–has a little chihuahua dog that he adores and takes him on walks every day to go down to the 7/11 store (I think it implies if you have a dog and like it, then you could not possibly be a pipe bomber).
–one report says he is a 33 year old bail bondsman. BUT, IMO, this is another Brian Cole in Fairfax (not Woodbridge) and is different from the 30 years old Brian Cole who lives with his parents in Woodbridge. So the dude would have been 25 when he planted the bomb.

The “protesters” became a convenient group for Dems to aggravate and then exploit, in order to disrupt what was to be lengthy hearings by House members presenting their state evidence of election malfeasance. In the big picture protesters were more like victims of a pre-planned “riot,” meant as a ruthless means to accomplish the end goal of bypassing House presentations to swiftly install Biden as POTUS. People like Jason and Bitter, however, won’t see thru the haze of kabuki theater, constructed by high level Dems and establishment republicans, ignoring 2020 election high junks, to instead focus on three hours of mostly misdemeanor behavior and a fabricated list of felonies.

My takeaways from presser: (1) It appears the individual seen on security video on Jan 5 is in custody. His name is Brian Cole Jr., he faces at least one federal charge with perhaps more to come. (2) No one is safer because this individual is in custody. The bombs were not viable and incapable of hurting anyone let alone blowing up lots of people. (3) Cooperation among agencies is very nice but we deserve a lot more details about this suspect ASAP. (4) The real scandal here is the COVERUP BY CHRIS WRAY’S FBI AND MERRICK GARLAND’S DOJ. If the outcome here is not the result of new information but fresh eyes on existing evidence, then that is a massive scandal and is more important than even the political leanings of the suspect.

Why can’t all be true, Bitter? Some people saw the guards open the doors, allow people in, and innocently walked in as well, without causing damage. Others destroyed public property and assaulted guards. The latter should be charged to the fullest extent of the law. The former should have been treated like any other protester in a democrat blue city – peacefully escorted out with no further action. Instead many were incredibly overcharged with novel theories of liability, like inappropriately charging them with a Dodd Frank/SEC investigation obstruction rule, to inflict maximum liability and great personal harm. It is also well documented that many of the former were treated horribly in prison confinement as well.
I for one welcome a review and repercussions for those responsible for trampling the former groups civil rights like they did.

This will be interesting. Hopefully, Bitter and Jason won’t be too upset.

Wrong Wray claims that he didn’t see Antifa on j6.

Silly you, Tina. How can you go after an ideology/sarc
Wray was horrible and I welcome what Chicon posted about exposing Biden’s fbi in court if they in fact did look the other way on that.

Being overcharged and being innocent are not the same thing.

Bitter, put the George Floyd rioters in jail, then to can put the J6 trespassers away.
Works for me. When there were riots in Philadelphia in 2020 I said they should be put down with force.

I am happy to see more people in jail than less.

Sure you can, if you were a 79 year old housewife that saw the guards opening the doors and letting people in and followed, thinking it was allowed. They reasonably thought it wasn’t trespassing. (This is a real case btw). There are a number of cases in DC (non j6) where this was argued and there was a successful defense(I.e charges dropped or person found not guilty of criminal trespassing). In any other jurisdiction they wouldn’t have even been charged. moreover, in the many times abortion activists and code pink did the same in DC, they weren’t charged. Instead, here we had them overcharged and a politicized judiciary intent on finding guilt. Grandma was totally innocent. Put on your defense cap, counselor.

Grandma trespassed. Deal with it. You are wasting your time. Grandma was a trespasser.

Nothing to “deal with” bitter. We have a difference of opinion. I’ve pointed out comparables in the DC circuit that clearly support my position. You see it otherwise. It’s a free country, so have at it.
