No polls today, and given all the nasty things said over the weekend in the last thread, I hereby declare today, December 1, 2025 a day of peace and reflection. Please refrain from saying nasty and hateful things to others who post here. If that means you cannot post anything at all, then take the day off, lower your blood pressure, and return tomorrow. Note: You are still free to speak the truth about Democrats.

60 Minutes has a story tonight about Polymarket. I didn’t realize it was only from 2020. It seemed older.
Weren’t there betting sites prior to 2020?”
Yes but they had a few dozen markets at time, Polymarket has thousands. They had low volume, the Polymarket markets are very high volume and thus much more representative of true market sentiment.”

Bitter wrote – I never said that the Founders based their plan of government and the Articles of Confederation (which sucked) only on the confederation of the Iroquois. But they certainly knew about it, especially Franklin. They were influenced by many ideas and history, not just the Enlightenment. Willful and deliberate ignorance does not make you smarter.——_____________
Bitter as usual misstates posts and moves goal posts.
Here’s what he wrote –
“-Native Americans had a centuries-old democracy before British colonists arrived.
-Benjamin Franklin copied the Native American blueprint for our democracy .
Bitter then provided us with an article by Indian activist Feathers to support this contention. Both are false, woke revisionist history.
Bitter also wrote that I think Jason descended from savages. This is false. I think Jason descended from retards lime Bitter.

Bitter then provided us with an article by Indian activist Feathers to support this contention. Both are false, woke revisionist history. They never had a centuries old democracy and Franklin never “copied” the Native American “blueprint” for our democracy like bitter wrote.
Bitter also wrote that I think the poster who uses the name Jason (not his real name per bitter) descended from savages. This is false. I think Jason descended from a line of retards like Bitter. Although Jason’s form of retardation allows him to have moments of lucidity like in that Robin Williams/Deniro movie.

Also a good day to pray for Andrew Wolfe, the young guardsman still in critical condition.
It is clear now why the governor of WV wrongly reported at first that both were dead. He no doubt was told off the record that both were shot in the head, and he deduced from this that they were killed. Of course the young woman has since died, but Andrew Wolfe is still alive. It is clear he too was shot in the head because they have done the same procedure they did on Gabby Giffords, where they opened up the skull to allow the damaged brain to swell without creating further damage.

Betting markets reflect the sentiment of the bettors at the time the bet is made.
Polling does the same thing, reflecting the opinion of the respondent at the time the question is asked.
But I do believe the betting markets are more “accurate” because the sample is so much larger.
It is so much larger that it can ignore the fact it is not “demographically represented” as a poll would be. Polls need to be very demographically representative because of the very small sample, for example 600 people for a national election. But if you have a million people betting, you are automatically going to have, for example, representation from every state.
Polymarket consistently showed Trump as a solid favorite throughout the campaign. It was not swayed by the media hype about Kamala’s “enthusiasm”, the debate that she “won”, the “tightening of the polls”, the “bad closing by Trump”, etc

I agree that left wing historians are trying to manipulate history. I do not believe that saying Phillis Wheatley was a slave who wrote poetry and George Washington liked it is not revisionism. Revisionism is not new. The Lost Cause historians pushed a noble and benevolent view of the Confederacy and slavery that was absurd.

Maybe not, but the problem is the agenda driven revisionists use such factoids as justification to push an entire narrative.
Most slaves were of course not poets and Washington probably “liked” thousands of other writings.
As Walt put it, the series that started this argument was “awfully full of blacks and Indians” when portraying the Revolutionary War.
Was this because the authors wanted to glorify and exaggerate the role of blacks and Indians for political purposes (jason’s view) or because they were trying to altruistically “educate” the American public on the role of these groups (Bitter’s view)?
Given the recent revisionist theories rampant among academia and the “cultural elites” I think the former is more likely than the latter

The day before the election Jones had a slight lead already. I think you were the one who posted that.

West Virginian Andrew Wolfe must be related to Walt given his apparent physical durability. The latest update from the Governor Morissey:
“We did have some positive news that we were told that Andrew was asked if he could hear the nurse who asked the question to give a thumbs up, and he did respond. And we were told that he also wiggled his toes,” said Morissey to the press on Monday. “So we take that as a positive sign.”

I am a little confused by “race” as it is used in MSM and government reporting and by people in general.
This is a serious question.
Criminals are often referred to as white, black, Asian…sometimes even as Hispanic or Native American (which I know the last two are not really races) The correct terms are caucasoid, negroid and mongoloid. And the people of India are considered Caucasian–not mongoloid–even though they live in Asia.
And I have seen photos of very dark skinned criminals who were listed officially as “white” when 99%+ of people would say they are NOT white.
Which brings me to how the government keeps stats on persons arrested and incarcerated.
–Are the figures now over-inflating the number of “whites” who are in prison or arrested?
–Is the Ghannystan immigrant who shot the national guardsmen considered “white” on his arrest info?
–How many persons arrested/incarcerated are classified as “white” when they are not? Do we now classify all Hispanics as white–since they are not mongoloid or negroid.
–But what about a Hispanic descendant of the Incas or Mayas–is he/she classified as mongoloid? Amerindo? Hispanic? White?
–How do schools today handle a child who is 50% Caucasian and 50% Negroid–what race do they list on school documents?

“3I/ATLAS: New Image Shows Interstellar Object Pointing Jets at the Sun

The moment the new frame loaded, the observatory fell silent. “Is it… aiming?” one researcher whispered. The enhanced image showed two narrow jets shooting from 3I/ATLAS—not outward into space, but angled directly toward the Sun. Perfect symmetry. Zero drift. As if the object was locking onto something. “Comets don’t target stars,” the lead analyst muttered, zooming in. The jets brightened for a split second, almost like a calibration pulse.
So why is 3I/ATLAS directing energy toward our Sun… and what happens when the jets fully activate?

Walt,
Many people who would have identified themselves as ‘black’ ‘non-hispanic white’ or ‘hispanic white’ on earlier Census forms (and other surveys) now identify themselves as ‘mixed race’. I suspect most of the folks in your previous post would consider themselves and be considered mixed race as well.
These changes have played havoc with demographers, political scientists, and labor economists who can no longer do long-term statistical analyses using Census data as current demographic buckets may bear little resemblance to those of 20- 30- or 50-years ago.

I am in favor of blowing up Somalia pirate boats that try to seize merchant ships off the coast of Africa. I do not mind if the military who blows these pirate boats up then kills any and all of the Somalia pirates in the water who may have survived the sinking of the boat. After all, the pirates went out from land to in effect go to war with any merchant ship they come across. The pirates’ aim is to attack.
I am in favor of U.S. military blowing up speed boats smuggling drugs from S. America to the U.S. But I am uncomfortable with the military then shooting and killing any survivors of the sinking of the drug smuggling boat. The drug smugglers’ aim is to elude and not get caught. Though their actions can and do indeed cause damage and death in the U.S. and harm our society.
I do not think the reason for this is that I am a racist. I do not feel or think I am a racist.
*************************
My thought is that the pirates off the coast of Africa are armed combatants who purposefully and consciously violate international law and would have no qualms about using their weapons to kill innocent people aboard the merchant ships in order to get and control the ship and its cargo that does not belong to them and at the same time impede and threaten international shipping. The pirates left land and came to take the ship and would kill those who got in their way.
On the other hand, the drug smuggling boats are not out to DIRECTLY attack any and all others at sea. Whatever weapons they have on the speed boat is to protect the illegal drugs from being seized by others. They do not leave land saying “well, I will be looking for people to shoot and kill during my time at sea.” I think there is a difference there. Once the drug smuggling boat is struck, blown up, and sunk, I think if there are any survivors in the water we should pull them out of the water, have a trial and then give them long prison terms for international drug smuggling. I do not think it is OK to just blow away any bobbing survivors. Eventually, the drug smugglers will start to kidnap innocent men, women and children and put them on the drug smuggling speed boats and then cause international outcry against the U.S. if we continue to simply shoot and kill and survivors from our blowing up drug smuggling ships when bodies of bullet ridden babies and other innocents who were kidnapped are pulled out the water by someone.
In these two situations–pirates and drug smugglers–I see a difference in what rules of engagement we should follow.
Is there something wrong with me and my thinking?

The Census still asks a race question, but it does not classify Hispanic as a race. The options are white, black, Asian, Hawaiian/Pacific Islander or Native American. If you say Asian it will ask if you are Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese, etc. Separately it asks if you are of Hispanic origin and if you say yes it asks if your are Mexican, Cuban, Puerto Rican, Dominican, Salvadorean, etc.
However, the Census requires that whatever the respondent says is what is recorded So if an apparently white person says I am black, the stats will show black. Conversely if an apparently black person says he is white, he is recorded as white.
As more and more intermingling among races occur, these stats will become more blurred and unreliable.
