If Cheney masterminded the Iraq War…..
A war that was based upon Saddam Hussein’ massive pile of WMD’s that never was produced and his ties to 9-11 that never was made and his ties to terroist groups that many leaders in the area already had.
A war that cost close to 4500 American lives, over 30,000 wounded and over $2 trillion that might eclipse $6 trillion in the near future.
No, I’m not fine with that.”
Zzzzzz… sophomoric interpretation which completely understates the real facts.
Saddam Hussein developed and produced WMDs AND used them both against his own people and against Iran, in a war he started that killed a million people. He refused to allow inspections to ascertain he really got rid of them, and his refusal prompted GWB to famously declare “trusting in the sanity of Saddam Hussein” is not an option”
Saddam invaded Kuwait in an attempt to gain another 10% of the world’s oil reserves, starting another war that killed thousands including hundreds of Americans. When retreating he set fire to 700 oil wells and caused the greatest ecological disaster in human history.
Saddam lobbed SCUD missiles indiscriminately into populated areas of both Saudi Arabia and Israel.
Saddam financed terror in Israel by paying bonuses to the families of suicide bombers.
Saddam stole billions from the food for oil program that was supposed to feed his people, instead letting them starve while he invested in weapons and palaces.
Those that opposed the Iraq war claim that “Saddam was not a threat”, the biggest crock of crap ever.
Taking this guy out was the right thing to do, and thankfully GWB was the man to do it.
You can whine all you want about how the war was conducted later, there were mistakes, but the original purpose of getting rid of this real threat to America and the world was completely justified.
So yes, I am completely fine with it.

overall, I agree Jason. Monday morning quarterbacking is easy. What is not easy was the situation we faced with Saddam. Had we done nothing with the info we had, and ignored the threats Saddam made, and then he found a way to use WMDs to wipe out a couple of American cities or even foreign military bases, then our President would have been held responsible for the stupidity of being warned by Saddam and doing nothing.

Here Here. I agree with Jason and DW wholeheartedly. It is easy to armchair quarterback what happened, but general population does not have access to the intel that leaders had/have. Saddam was deranged, and absolutely had access to WMD’s. Even the chance that he did would warrant intervention. The problem was not the war, but no planning for the period after he was dethroned.
The chaos that ensued should have been better prepared for before going in.

Now how about the election today. My guess is that NJ and VA go the D direction and the socialist Mandami (sic) wins…which will give Dems a false sense of security and belief that the nation wants them in power. It will hurt them next year and in 2028.

my prediction:
Spanberger by 9
Miyares by 1
The Dem wins New Jersey by 2
Mamdani by only 5.

DW, other than the Spanberger result, I would take the above. Those are awful numbers for Dems in an off year and with Trump in office

Monday morning quarterbacking is not necessary; generals smarter than Rumsfeld said we needed to go in with 300-400k men to swiftly defeat and then pacify the country. Instead, Rumsfeld and Cheney opted for shock and awe aka “Blitzkrieg 2.0” on the cheap with just 130k or so. I had no problem with the justification to get rid of Hussein and still don’t, but the war was poorly prosecuted from the get go, not even the later stages of occupation that unraveled before the belated surge.

I hope so Vic, I really do, and I can understand why we try to console ourselves with thinking about the long game. But politics is never like chess where you are okay with sacrificing pawns, playing 5 moves ahead. Its because the political landscape changes too quickly, and new events are constantly at play to change it. Its best to get all you can every time you can, and so tonight is going to hurt, especially for those of us in Virginia. Having an atty general who wants to put two bullets in my head isn’t a comforting thought.

Lots of Election Day high jinx going on in NJ with machine breakdowns, bomb threats. NYC is also experiencing some disruptive tactics – I can’t help but credit the Dems for such underhanded ways to win an election and retain power.

Now in PA’s Chester County, there were problems with having Independents on the rolls, causing more than normal numbers of provisional ballots being handed out, leading to precincts running out of provisional ballots and actually turning these people away.

So, did Bosoberg sign an ndo for trumps phone?
AGPamBondi
During the Arctic Frost Investigation, we found that Special Counsel seized President Trump’s government-issued phone. This means the Biden Administration turned over President Trump’s phone to Special Counsel—an UNPRECEDENTED action. In addition, Special Counsel subpoenaed all of President Trump’s PERSONAL phone records. We can never again allow this kind of government weaponization in America. I submitted these new documents to our partners on Capitol Hill. I commend our team at the FBI for working diligently to expose this.

This afternoon, I had a virtual Hearing with an allegedly injured employee who is claiming a psychological injury. She testified with her cat sitting next to her. The Judge asked if she could put the cat in another room. The woman said the cat helps her deal with her anxiety. I told the Judge the cat can stay.

Cheneys political high point was destroying the silky pony in the debate. From there, it was all downhill.
Mute-Cheney became one of the worst R administrations. Nation building, open borders, unlimited war, and a bad recession did the admin in.

Bitter, if she’s that attached to the cat, she had those problems before her “injury.” Best case for her is that, akin to the VA rating system, the problem was aggravated by the incident vice caused by it.
And I say this as a cat lover; would be no different if she had a lap dog there.

Make of it what you will, but Mike Prusser for DDHQ has noted that turnout will likely exceed 2021 in NJ by at least 20%. HIgher turnout actually helps Jack, since a lot of his voters are going to be lower propensity types. Most NJ counties apparently at 97% of 2021 figures as of now.

GF – She and her lawyer admit she had multiple mental health issues before the work incident. She claims it pushed her over the edge and caused worse issues. I am trying to settle it because if the Judge finds a psych injury in PA, it is like a retirement plan for decades. Now, she might have borrowed the cat to make her seem anxious.

Vic, they are actually drawing the equivalence on Trump saying he could shoot someone on the street and still have support.
It was an extremely STUPID thing to say, and it wasn’t really true anyway, but clearly Trump meant a theoretical person in general, not even as specific as a Republican or Democrat.
Jones specifically named Republican Todd Gilbert, and his children.
Totally false equivalent.

I have it all setup Vic, so when you create your first thread, it will appear with the link by your name at the top. So its also true that whenever any of us start a new thread, we should go to the old thread, and say “New thread” so people will know which one of is its linked under.
