There seems to be some genuine efforts being made to mend long term problems plaguing the Middle East. My heart went out to the 20 Hamas captives being released. And, Trump’s spontaneous trip to Israel, where he met with the hostage families for over an hour, going on to Egypt to sign agreements with other countries, was impressive. Trump is turning out to be an historic figure in international politics.

There is only one way to try to influence a new Gaza, and that is to take away the Hamas propaganda machine that only allows their info to filter through.
I hope Israel and Trump are working on that.
Because if Hamas controls the narrative, they will eventually gain control again.

Trump is a protectionist and an isolationist, has never deviated from that in 50 years, his most (and maybe only) lasting conviction.
The Abraham Accords and the Gaza Peace Deal were real diplomatic achievements for which he deserves much credit. His attempts to forge an end to the Ukraine war, his meeting with Rocket Man, and his brokering of other conflicts are all laudable goals.
“America First” as Trump defines it is isolationism. A NATO policy that ignores American interests is isolationism. A trade policy based on tariffs and trade wars is protectionism.
All can be true.

Netanyahu is a known quantity. He will only honor the deal if Hamas cooperates. There is not much Trump can do about that. In fact, he probably told Trump it was up to Trump to secure the support of the Arab world.
The Saudis will be instrumental in exerting pressure on Hamas and also in presenting a unified (minus Iran) front supporting the deal. It seems Trump has already secured the support other important player, which is Egypt. If he gets the Saudis aboard, Iran will be completely isolated and Hamas also.

The interesting aspect of today’s peace summit was how many world leaders came together in an impromptu manner, calling Trump if they could attend this function, because they wanted to be a part of it. Iraq and Turkey had one stipulation, that they would not be there if Netanyahu was present. When Trump was in Israel it was also a significant gesture that Trump did not shake Netanyahu’s hand following the signing of some documents. However, in Egypt Trump was effusive about his relationship with Al Sisi. I really think Trump doesn’t feel Netanyahu is trustworthy any more, and hence their relationship has become frosty and distant.

Meanwhile, LA is still on their starting pitcher at the end of six innings, has struck out plenty of batters, and the Brewers have gained a single hit in the game; that guy promptly got thrown out trying to steal second.
All that said, it’s still just 1-0, and I never doubt the ability of the weak Dodgers relief pitching staff to blow that down the home stretch.

i don’t get why the runner on third didn’t have his foot on the bag and as soon as the Brewers outfielder made contact with the ball, sprint home either as a sac fly run, or as a run scored off a base hit off the wall. Wherever he was, he was in the wrong place

perhaps it will matter in the end, DW, but the Dodgers starting pincher has finished eight innings, and given up only one hit, shutting out the Brewers so far. He’s now at 102 pitches, so I imagine they will pull him, but Milwaukee has burned through four pitchers so far. They’re a good club, but it’s not like they are invincible.
