    Hmmm…

Actually, this warrants some clarification since sometimes from the mouths of idiots you end up with a kernel of truth.

    1. I believe funding NATO and military aid to Ukraine is in our national interest, so yes, there is a “burden” on US taxpayers for such a cost. As with any expenditure, most of the taxes in the US are paid by top earners (the top 5% pay over 60% of tax income revenues).
    2. I don’t believe tariffs and trade wars are in the national interest, and I think tariffs are just a tax on the consumers that can least afford them. The tax on consumers (i.e. tariffs) impact lower income taxpayers the most. “For instance, if a tariff is imposed on imported goods like clothing or household appliances, the cost of those items will likely increase for all consumers. However, for low-income individuals, this price increase will represent a larger proportion of their budget, potentially forcing them to make difficult choices about what to buy. “

There is such a chasm being formed between those wanting hardline deportations, vs those wanting leniency for workers here illegally for a long period of time. I really didn’t think the illegal issue would become so combative and divisive as it has evolved to be.

Yet they keep voting for Dems…

“Of the California voters surveyed, 90% reported their cost of living has gone up. Within that group, 67% said it had gone up a lot, and 23% said it had gone up a little.

In the poll, 92% of California voters reported that their state legislators did a “poor” or “only fair” job at holding down the cost of living for California families. Of the voters, 87% of the Democratic voters and 97% of the Republican voters reported their state legislators did a “poor” or “only fair” job, according to the survey memo.

The survey also discovered that 72% of California voters believe lawsuit abuse is a key factor in the rising prices for California families, with 38% claiming to strongly agree with that belief and 34% saying they somewhat agree.

California voters are not wrong to believe lawsuit abuse is correlated to rising prices, Zelt said  That is because the cost of products goes up when the number of lawsuits filed against a city and or company increase.

“California families pay a hidden tax,” Zelt said. “And it can be on everything from prescription medications, home insurance, health insurance, auto insurance, even something like soap and detergent. The cost of these things are more expensive because of the liability cost that many companies and cities and localities have to pay for frivolous lawsuits.”

  40. DW – I am torn on Mendoza. I think he’s good for the players and in the clubhouse, but I think he handles a pitching staff horribly. He ALWAYS leaves a starter or reliever in too long. WTF wasn’t brazoban brought in yesterday instead of Stanek, who they need to release immediately. Any minor league reliever can come in and walk four out of six batters. He’s now blown seven (7) games where the mets had at least a two run lead when he was brought in.

I think they need to pray that Senga is what he was before, that Manea was what he was last year, and that Holmes and Peterson keep pitching well…they should stay in the hunt in the second half with that. I doubt that the other starter brought in in the offseas will be any good. Saw McLean pitch the other night and he’s the real deal. Also…why won’t they promote LIncecom Jr from AA….they can dump one of their journeyman pitchers in AAA to make space. See if he’s the real deal.

Also, it’s obvious they are showcasing Vientos, Baty, Acuna and to some degree Mauricio ahead of the trade deadline. Hoping they don’t get rid of Baty or Mauricio (like they did Crow-Armstrong who is now sensational…to be fair on him, there is no telling that he woudl have made the adjustments he made in this past offseason if he had stayed with the mets. Remember, he was a .210 hitter with a .250 OBP last season).

Sources confirm to me the blow up between Dan Bongino and Pam Bondi is very real. This has been brewing for four months and came to a head at the White House on Wednesday. He has not been in the office since. Most of the frustration at FBI relates to her handling of Epstein disclosures and disputes between FBI and Bondi about how to proceed. Bongino appears ready to resign imminently if Bondi remains in office.

This afternoon’s soiree meeting was Eastern Panhandle Business Association group that I am in. The guest speaker was the plant manager of Nucor (a fortune 500 company) micro steel plant that is being built here in Berkeley County at the old Dupont site bordering the Potomac River. They are investing $700 million to build the plant. They will produce steel rebar rods of varying diameters. They can put 1000 feet of 3/8 rebar rod on a spool to load onto trucks and rail cars. They make the steel from recycled scrap material. They will employ 230 people when fully operational and the average salary is $77,000. The steel company equipment is only made in Italy. The pant manager already has imported the several hundred million dollars of automated and robotic equipment which is stored here at the facility location while it is being built. The US produces about 125 million tons annually and currently uses about 100 million tons and currently exports 25 million tons.

The soiree this evening is joining with another couple to go out to dinner and then back to our house for dessert. I am not sure if just 4 people qualifies as a soiree.

Tomorrow evening’s soiree is for the Potomac Valley Audubon Society picnic for group and spouses.

-There was actual video footage of the incident. Not sure if Bunu saw it or not.

  90. Even though I would love to ban the Anti-Semitic America hating bastard, I must give Bunu credit. After more than a decade, Bunu has finally gained 2 apostles for his conspiracy nonsense. NYC and Tina must be so proud to be on his side.

  94. I disagree with the “everything must be released” mantra. I do not believe that releasing “everything” is always the right thing to do. There are times when society needs to move on from things. Where complete details could lead to bad situations. Where releasing complete details puts others in jeopardy.

With all that said, if there really were “Epstein files” someone would have leaked them already, whether it was a Trump worshiper in the government or a Socialist Obama/Biden hatewhitey worshiper. One way or another someone would have leaked it. Something that big would have gotten out.

That is not to say that people didn’t go to his island, or that they didn’t visit him, or that they were not complicit…there just isn’t a secret ledger that Epstein kept in the safe behind the flamenco dancer painting.

    Very good, Vic.

Conspiracy theory morons like NYC, Tina and Bunu will always believe there are more “books to be opened” because they already “know” what happened, and will never be satisfied until the smoking gun (real or imaginary) is uncovered that validates their “theory”.

These “files” have been around for years. If there were any real bombshells in them they would have been leaked long ago. As Buck Sexton says, the government is a terrible keeper of secrets.

There is no “secret ledger”. Epstein was a sick pervert and pedophile who is now dead.

    Time to move on.

Trump and Bongino and Patel and Bondi have to realize no amount of “releases” will ever satisfy the NYCs, Tinas, and Bunus.

The reason Dershowitz wants everything released is personal. He was accused by one of the women (now dead) and he thinks releasing the files will vindicate him.

Fine, but the witness had already recanted. This is not about Dershowitz.

And Esptein got a sweetheart deal in FL years before anyone knew the true extent of his crimes? Happens all the time, especially when you can afford top lawyers like he could.

    Oh, and finally this gem:

“Those who don’t think it is important – covering up child trafficking isn’t a big deal for you?”

It was uncovered. The victims were interviewed.. Epstein was arrested and charged.

    Time to move on.
