The reason Trump pre-emptively went after Powell is because he knows the good job report will make it LESS likely Powell will cut interest rates.

Not only that, but unlike during every report during the Biden years , the previous months during Trumps first months were revised up, not down – April was revised up by 11,000, from +147,000 to +158,000, and the change for May was revised up by 5,000, from +139,000 to +144,000.
This report beat all expectations and will not encourage Powell to rush into lowering rates, since the economy is doing well. July’s CPI will be a key factor for any month end decision to start easing rates.

Also, although wage growth has been good, it’s starting to decelerate, which is beneficial from an inflation perspective.

Been awhile and I hope everyone is doing well. Just wanted to chime in. Obviously I have my opinions about how the first months have gone, but, whenever I see headlines like this, it reminds me how bad it would be if we were living under a liberal regime.
Jobs report came in much stronger than expected, with a lower UE rate, when just yesterday, the NYT, WaPo, Politico etc were call claiming it would show a job loss and shooting up unemployment….DIDN’T HAPPEN…and yet they still found negativity in the report.
The biggest is with the bill passage today…NYT headline “GOP passes massive tax cuts for rich…slashes safety net for the poor”
While I don’t agree with everything in the bill, it hardly “Slashes safety net”
So, folks, this is what we are truly fighting…not each other.

Don;t like the tariffs, even if it seems as if countries are coming around and making deals with us . The flat 20% tariffs are tough in the long term.
