I miss Wes. He was a moron on many subjects, especially History (not ignorant, he was very well read, just misguided), but he knew his movies and his cigars. He liked loose women, dry red wine, and rare steaks, nothing wrong with any of that.
He also was probably the most rigid and opinionated person at HHR, and that is an achievement. Challenge him on any of his views and you could be targeted for life. Nothing wrong with that either.
It could be that of he could be somebody who is trying to do things like make up other “crimes” or refusing to deliberate. Apparently, he is a scientist and may not want to follow the instructions of mere mortals.
My favorite fight with Wes was when he said I could not like the show The Walking Dead because I didn’t know it was based on graphic novels/comic books.
Lincoln was a fraud because some Northerners owned slaves.
The Civil War was not about slavery even if the Confederates themselves said it was about slavery.
Fraud could not have happened anywhere in the 2020 election because it didn’t happen in NC.
A senate election decided by 7k votes in VA could not possibly have been tainted by fraud because the R candidate ran a bad campaign and deserved to lose.
If you didn’t think the J6 protesters set up the scaffold so they could really hang Mike Pence you were a MAGA fanatic.
If you didn’t think GWB was the worst President ever and you supported the war in Iraq you were a “Jingoist”.
Al Gore and John Kerry would have been better Presidents than GWB even though he voted for GWB twice.
I aid that their coverage of the Senate vote today, which i have had on in the background, ONLY featured Dem senator speeches from yesterday playing all day. Its a split screen showing the vote and the speeches.
Finally now they have Tammy Bruce from the State Dept.
I think the big beautiful bill is is trouble of not passing.

On a related note…about 10 years ago we were up visiting son and his farm family in WISC. He usually hired several full time workers and several more part time workers. We were all out picking beans or whatever I always was a working vacations when we visiting the farmer son) and I overheard two of these part time summer workers talking (they were both students at the local college). And the one was telling the other how he qualified for government SNAP benefits, and government food stamps and whatever and telling the other one how to go about doing the same thing. I did not think it was right for college students to be able to qualify for SNAP/food stamps. Still don’t.
Also, while driving down one of the main highways, we noticed a big field of (somewhat poor looking) corn that had not been harvested. Farmer son shakes his head and disgustedly says , “yeah that is so-and-so’s farm. It is a scam. That farmer does this every year. Plants his crop at the very latest possible time, doesn’t;t fertilize or anything. Then when he has a poor crop of corn he applies for and gets thousands of dollars in government farm aid every year due to his poor yield that he blames on drought, etc. If the USDA officials would investigate, they would find that farmers on either side of that scamming farmer got big crop yields because they planted it when they were supposed to, took care of it, etc. So with a little investigation they could tell his poor crop yield was not from drought. He just plants it at the wrong time and then does nothing to it, and then gets big bucks from the USDA for crop loss assistance
Trump personally attacking Musk again. The Uniparty can’t help the out of control deficit spending … MAGA now owns it with BBB. Trump attacks those who want to be responsible with the national debt.
Just like Trumps first term out of control deficit spending will continue to explode our debt…leading to long term inflation.
Deficit spending has been going on for decades so I am not sure about the “long term inflation” part.
This is not rocket science. You either extend the tax cuts or you don’t.
If you believe extending the tax cuts is necessary AND good for the economy in the long run, then there is no alternative to raising the debt limit and hoping the resulting economy and revenues and spending cuts (1.6 trillion) narrows the. deficit in the future.
In my view, a $4.7 trillion tax hike now would kill the economy.
Above post sums it up perfectly. We cannot allow those tax cuts to expire. The effect on our economy will be devastating. The big bet here is that we can grow ourselves out of this massive debt load. With the slim majority we have in Congress right now, this is the only play available. Prayers up that it works
As a college sophomore, my girlfriend (senior back at my high school alma mater) dumped me.
In my senior year in college, my college sweetheart (we were talking about how many children we wanted and what names to give our children) dumped me to go back to her old, long-time hometown boyfriend? She actually said on the night she kicked me to the curb that she wished she could still go on dating both of us. Apparently for a while after college she was dating me on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and him on M, W, F. I guess she took Sunday off to get her thoughts together.
And later my (now) wife, who I had dated on and off over a period of time, was previously twice engaged to her hometown guy and was engaged to him and making wedding plans when he sadly died in a car accident the summer I was traipsing around in Europe.
I think there is a good book/movie that could have been made about all this.
