i think I was three years ago the Phillies had a decent team that was underperforming, so they fired the manager early in the year, and went on to the world series. The Mets are not as smart and will hold onto the clown they have managing the team now and will be a first series out in the playoffs, if they make it that far.
They should have fired him weeks ago. Even when they were playing better, they were still throwing games away. But now they are just sleepwalking through games as though they have already done enough to have World series rings. That’s a manager problem.

DW- The Phillies need a real center fielder and bullpen help. The Phillies have great starting pitching. They just got swept in Houston even though they only gave up a total of 5 runs in 3 games because they scored 1. Strange game.
I don’t know how to fix the Mets. They spent huge money but lose heart for many games. I don’t know if a change in manager would fix that

No lawyers, no trials, no due process, just execution awaits. So if a Muslim Iranian has a personal conflict against a Muslim neighbor, all he has to do is turn in that neighbor for being a suspected spy, and he has gotten rid of his neighbor. Well, we have contract to have the guy put in the 6′ golden railing on the deck. Wife wins argument as Walt capitualates.
As a consolation prize, wife got Walt to paint the deck boards on our deck. Did most of that today between 10 and 2. I think I am dying in this heat. Taking a break to let the paint dry more so I can move a bunch of big assed potted plants from the last little 5 X 12 section of deck that still needs to be painted.
She wants both projects completed before her next grand soiree of her inviting and hosting over 40 people she used to teach with. The soiree will be July 18.
Guess who will be asked to dust and vacuum for that?

Babbitt was a moronic trespasser who should have known better than try to break into the Capitol through a broken window.
That being said, she was unarmed and presented no more threat than the others who had already entered and there was absolutely no reason or justification to shoot her.
The officer who shot her should have been fired and prosecuted.

I have nothing against Tillis. I am sure he much more conservative ideologically than Trump.
But he was never a strong candidate. He beat a weak incumbent (Kay Hagan) by less than 50k votes in a strong R year. Then he lucked out in 2020, he was headed for a loss until his opponent self destructed with the world’s almost stupidest sex scandal (almost because Mark Sanford’s was stupider).
Even so, Tillis only won by 2.
So no great loss as a candidate as long as they don’t run a deadender.

Prior to 2021 and even currently in 2025, Tillis repeatedly stated his support for extending the Trump 2017 tax cuts (which are set to expire at the end of the 2025 tax year and cost over 3 trillion over a 10 year period). Yet he voted for a 2021 green infrastructure deal, which increased the deficit by $256 billion to 375 billion over 10 years (2021 to 2031) according to the CBO. The CBO rightfully did not add any additional deficit increase to the 2021 bill for hypothetically extending the 2025 expiring tax cuts in their 10 year deficit analysis at that time. However since Tillis claimed he wanted them extended at that time, by voting for this 2021 bill, arguably, he voted for a budget deficit greater than the current big beautiful bill, which cuts expenses by 1.7 trillion over 10 years but with extending the the expiring tax cuts that Tillis said he favored, caused the CBO to rate it as adding 2.4 trillion to the deficit. Has Tillis ever explained why he was ok voting for the 2021 bill and not this one while consistently stating he wanted the 2017 tax cuts expiring in 2025 extended? Did he think Republicans would be able to cut more than that huge $1.7 trillion in this bill? He couldn’t have thought we’d be able to cut the entire cost of extending the 2017 tax cuts in a single bill.

we just finished watching “The bitter tea of general Yen” with Barbara Stanwyck. Fabulous movie set in 1920s China during their civil war. Way ahead of its time. Check it out for free on Tubi. I couldn’t believe Capra directed it.

Concacaf gold cup seems boring compared to the club World Cup going on now. PSG gave Miami (including Messi and Suarez) a master class in football earlier today. Man City and PSG seem to be the favorites but I’m pulling for one of the Brazilian clubs (either Fulminense or Palmeiras) now that all of the US clubs have been knocked out.. All games are free to watch on DAZN.
