Every time I read that “NATO countries are taking advantage of us” and “other countries are taking advantage of us on trade” I laugh at the stupidity of those statements by ignorant protectionists and isolationists.
The stability NATO has brought to Europe containing the USSR and then Russia’s expansionist agenda is in our profound interest. Every penny invested in NATO has been worth it just like every penny provided to Ukraine to contain Putin’s efforts to recreate the USSR has been worth it.
International trade has greatly benefited the US and is one of the most important sources of our wealth.

Yes, it is premature to rely on one report that was classified ‘Top Secret’ regarding the damage to the three “nuclear” targets in Iran. It is my understanding that even the Iranians are not in the area, or at least, to report on the damage.
Keep in mind that Trump had continually asked military advisors if the MOPS would be effective and according to The Guardian the Pentagon was divided on that.
But in the end it probably worked if it got Iran to get a diplomatic solution to this knowing that the US punched them with the right fist and still has a left fist to land….

Could have easily been parts of Yemen or Saudi where the topography matches, I just went with Jordan because it looks like it was in the ME. Honestly, many of those cities look very similar. (Jan, I grew up in Saudi and spent ten years in the region, along with a military career that took me there frequently as well as all around the globe).

Ever since I learned about the Holocaust as a child, I have always respected Judaism and Israel. I think I was drawn to the inner strength through suffering,, humor and guilt. A great match for an Irish Catholic.
My wife is the only Jewish woman I ever dated. When we got engaged, my mother asked me how we would raise our children. I said “with bitterness and confusion.” My father-in-law asked why he had 3 Jewish daughters and no Jewish son-in-laws. I asked him why was I only man with a Jewish father-in-law who doesn’t own a beach house.
I told my wife I would never convert and would not expect her to convert, either. I said that I am concerned with the rise of violent anti-Semitism but her fate is my fate, too, and I will stand against the haters.

i almost always listen to Fox news on Sirus radio, but I switched over to CNN on the drive back from Bible study tonight.
In her car, wife always has CNN on. I can;t listen to it for very long before aI get agitated with their one sided coverage.
So in my car coming home alone for the 15 minute drive, I got worked up–as usual. The first CNN story was about the U.S. Intel report that came out saying that there was very little or no damage to the 3 Iranian facilities. To support this, CNN sites WHAT IRAN IS SAYING–“very little damage”. NEVER DO THEY MENTION THAT THIS CIA INTEL REPORT IS REPORTED WITH “LOW CONFIDENCE IN ITS ACCURACY”.
Next, CNN talks about how the “enriched uranium” might have been moved prior to the U.S. air strikes. So it is enough kgs. to make X number of nuke bombs. NEVER ONCE DO THEY SAY THAT THE ENRICHED URANIUM IS 60% ENRICHED, BUT IT NEEDS TO BE FURTHER ENRICHED IN THE CENTRIFUGES TO BE AT NUKE BOMB GRADE WHICH IS 90% ENRICHED.
CNN FURTHER STATES THAT IRAN STATE GOVERNMENT RADIO IS REPORTING THAT THE ENRICHED URANIUM WAS ALL MOVED EARLIER TO A SAFE LOCATION–NEVER MENTIONING THAT IRAN STATE RUN RADIO IS AS UNTRUSTWORTHY AS BAGHDAD BOB IRAQ GOOFBALL WHO DECLARED THE U.S. forces were totally defeated by Sadam Hussein.
AND CNN is giving the impression that the IRAN State TV/RADIO is obviously more trustworthy than sources coming out of the Trump administration.
NEXT, they had on the winner of the D party nomination for NYC mayor and give him 5 minutes uninterrupted basically to go on a high sounding diatribe about how he represents the moral leadership in America and that we have leaders today who do not have that….blah, blah blah. NO hard questions about what he wants to do in NYC and HOW HE IS GOING TO PAY FOR IT.

So I share this info with wife over dinner, she jumps to defend CNN and IMMEDIATELY says FOX news I listen to is just as biased the other way. I point out with examples how it is not.
Now my wife is more intelligent than I am–and I do not mean JUST book smart. She was selected as a McMurran Scholar at our college (now university) and graduated in 3 years instead of 4–and less than 1% of students are chosen for this high honor of academic excellence. But she LOVES CNN. My theory is that CNN builds their programing to target those who are more driven by emotion (most women) and others who are dominant in that side of the brain.
Wife is analytical, but NOT when it comes to national events as reported by CNN. They somehow have her trust.

Walt – I switch around between Fox, CNN, MSNBC, and BBC. On election night, CNN and MSNBC have the best maps. The CNN map expert seems to know everybody. He will say things like, “ Well, if we take it really close in, we can see that Mrs. Smith voted for Biden in 2020 but supports Trump this time. Across the street, Mr. Jones’s car is not in the driveway so he may be voting because the polls close at 8:00.”

Well they did have a language to speak…2 thousand years ago when the language died.
People were still able to read it though (for religious reasons) but not speak it since it was a dead language, and no one knew what it sounded like or was supposed to sound like so sounds were arbitrarily assigned to various letters when they started an effort to revive hebrew from the dead.

Covid/George Floyd/”white guilt” helped make my wife realize how bad the media was.
She grew up with 2 liberal Democrat parents (NYC 60’s-free-spirit-nature-loving-minimalist) but whom were both devout Catholics. Father-in-law was a university counselor-teacher, so my wife has several pictures with her and the other children of teachers in the day care of the college, she is usually the only white child. The kids all got along great. Wonderful memories for my wife, and still has some contact with 2 of the families.
So when the schools in 2020 started telling her to check her “white privilege” in how she treated individuals, it really turned her stomach, that they were actually telling her “You are racist because you are white.”, she said “no f-ing way am I accepting your narrative!”.
Very proud of her.
