There is no real reason for Russia to still be the “enemy of the west” as it was during the Cold War. With the end of the USSR and communist rule, Russia could have just become another EU country and become wealthy doing it.
The only problem is that Putin decided he rather have a dictatorship incompatible with the EU and that his avenue to permanent power was to have an adversarial and expansionist agenda.
Russia was not able to transition to democracy because of all the components of the USSR, it was the most vulnerable to the “strong man” lure that Putin offered.
The best thing to happen to Russia would be for Putin to die. The power vacuum resulting from his death could start a opening to a more democratic society, unless he has a heir waiting in the wings that could hold the present system together.
NOW – LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell just shattered the “peaceful protester” narrative. What’s happening in Los Angeles isn’t civil unrest—it’s urban warfare. “They have weapons of all kinds.” McDonnell said officers made several arrests during the citywide curfew—and what they discovered was alarming. “We arrested a number of people last night for curfew violations, that I think 14 and 3 out of the 14 were armed with weapons, handguns.” “And so when you look at that, what appears to be one thing is something very different.” Backpacks weren’t just backpacks—they were mobile arsenals. “We’ve seen in those backpacks that they’ll have hammers, they’ll break up curb stones and concrete bollards, break up into smaller pieces, which they’ll then throw at police.”

It all has the same M.O… a peaceful protest starts, quickly infiltrated by masked up, ORGANIZED miscreants (who really have no real interest in the supposed “injustice de jour”) who sue the peaceful protestors as a shield and cover for their deviant purposes and who throw deadly objects/commercial grade fireworks/Molotov cocktails/bottles/chunks of concrete/bricks/eggs/dozens of electric scooters, etc.to rain down on law enforcement who have been sent to uphold the law and protect public and private property and ensure safe passage on public streets and highways for law-abiding folk. And an injustice to those that live and work in the city downtown as businesses close up and move to the suburbs which causes LESS JOBS for those downtown city residents, and LESS STORES TO SHOP IN. Higher TAXES, higher INSURANCE costs, less JOB OPPORTUNITIES, and less RETAIL SHOPPING places and increased TIME AND COST for downtown city residents get to stores. Tipping the Scales: Why So Many Cases Against Trump Are Heard by Democrat-Appointed Judges –
“To see whether Trump’s adversaries are engaging in forum shopping, RealClearInvestigations analyzed 350 cases brought against the administration. We found that plaintiffs have brought 80% of those cases before just 11 of the nation’s 91 district courts. While Democrat presidents have appointed roughly 60% of all active district court judges, each of the 11 district courts where the anti-Trump challenges have been clustered boasts an even higher percentage of Democrat appointees. In several of these venues, the administration’s challengers are almost guaranteed that a judge picked by Joe Biden, Barack Obama, or Bill Clinton will preside over their case.
The analysis of these 350 cases, which covers all those identified in popular litigation trackers and RCI’s independent research as of this week, lends credence to claims that anti-Trump litigants may be strategically filing suit in courts where they are most likely to receive a favorable ruling – a practice that has been both pursued and decried by Democrats and Republicans.
RCI also analyzed three dozen cases in which judges imposed the most extreme restraint on the Trump administration by entering a nationwide or universal injunction – prohibiting the administration from enforcing its policy not only against the party bringing the case, but anyone, everywhere. The analysis shows that these injunctions have disproportionately emerged from Democrat-leaning courts where plaintiffs have brought the lion’s share of suits, and that Democrat-appointed judges are overwhelmingly responsible for ordering them.”
Using social media (Truth Social no less) again this morning and his naive let’s make a deal approach to Iran.
I am fine with his aversion to senseless killing and destruction in war. I feel the same. But this let’s make deal business approach with nations that our enemies is extremely weak.
he analysis shows that these injunctions have disproportionately emerged from Democrat-leaning courts where plaintiffs have brought the lion’s share of suits, and that Democrat-appointed judges are overwhelmingly responsible for ordering them.”
You didn’t need “research” to discover this.
Elections have consequences. 20 years of Clinton + Obama + Biden as filled the courts with far leftists.
“As Israel’s attack began, Mossad agents in central Iran deployed precision-guided weapons systems into open areas near Teheran’s surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems. The missiles were launched at their targets as Israeli airstrikes began. Additionally, the Mossad deployed strike systems and advanced technologies on vehicles with the goal of neutralizing Iran’s air defense capabilities that threaten Israeli jets. Further, the Mossad had previously established a base of explosive drones, which were activated and launched toward surface-to-surface missile (SSM) launchers that posed threats to Israeli civilians and strategic targets.”
Probably a coincidence that China has bought farmland near American air bases.
Chicon”
Frankly, the whole thing about China buying farmland puts me to sleep. The amount of land purchase so far is negligible, about 400,000 acres. Canada owns 12 million acres of US land. Netherlands, Italy, UK, and Germany all own more land than China
And the logistics of setting up offensive weapons against US air bases from farmland in the US are very different from the Mossad setting up a drone base in the Iranian desert, a vast unpopulated area.
True he did warn them…but Bibi was clearly not playing the negotiating game that Trump was playing. Trump has been naive regarding Putin, XI, Iran, and North Korea.
Military parade on Saturday. About 2000 ‘no Kings’ protests on Saturday. Pro-Iranians protests as well. And did I forget numerous college commencements scheduled.
“Meanwhile, Trump continues to publicly play peacemaker by imploring Iran to make a deal, when he knows they never will, which puts the blame of the war on them.
This is Trump once again playing fourth-level chess. He’s cut off domestic criticism of involving America in yet another Middle East war. He delegitimizes any overseas attack on Americans. That doesn’t mean the attacks won’t happen, but America cannot be blamed for a provocation. He’s a winner if Iran does come to the table and agrees to truly denuclearize. If Iran doesn’t come to the table, the world wins if Israel wipes out their nuclear program, and the world really wins if Iran is freed from its theocratic mullahs.
Again, I have no inside information, but my guess is that Trump and Netanyahu have been game-planning and refining this political and military strategy/strike for months and months, starting even before the November election. The result is that Trump maneuvered America and himself into a win-win situation, Iran into a lose-lose situation, and Netanyahu into a place where he can finally act conclusively.
A lot can go wrong in a war, but so far, so good, and I wish Israel only success followed by everlasting peace.”
Trump has been naive regarding Putin, XI, Iran, and North Korea”
I don’t think this is a fair statement, despite my foreign policy differences with Trump. And a disagreement in policy does not mean I consider Trump naive.
It seems like Bibi and Trump engaged in a ruse to make the Iranians think any attack was still some time away. Highly successful ruse.
Trump has been very consistent during both terms of his presidency, in pressing for negotiating with nations vs making war with them. In Israel’s case, while he did not join in the bombing mission, I think he was personally pleased with the results that so much of Iran’s military had been defanged without the fingerprints of the US associated with this attack.
Also, while some may look at Trump’s relationships and comments about global tyrants like Putin, Xi, Iran, and N Korea as “naive,” others would see it as keeping the lines of communication open with them – unlike how Biden didn’t have a conversation with Putin for 3 years.
Trumps often puts his personal dogmas above the interests of the country.
That is not being naive, that is being rigid in his ideology.
In the case of Iran, he is not being naive. You can bet that privately he is onboard with Israel’s actions, today he even bragged that Israel used “beautiful US equipment”. He has replenished Israel’s Iron Dome to safeguard from Iran retaliation. By letting Israel do the dirty work, so to speak, he has conveniently avoided the torrent of opposition if the US had taken the initiative.
So far, I think Trump is playing the Iran situation well. It will get more complicated, but so far I have no objections.
“Billionaire lefty Mark Cuban appears to finally realize that Bluesky — the social media platform created as a leftist alternative to X (formerly, Twitter) — has become increasingly more toxic and “hateful.”
In a series of recent posts on the left-wing social media site, the Cubes came to the conclusion:
Even if you agree with 95 percent of someone’s views on an issue, if you point out just one area that’s open to interpretation, people will label you a fascist or worse.”
Reports are saying Israel caught all these high level Iranian officers off guard, sleeping in their beds, in pent house units that were easy to target.
More info coming in as to Trump’s involvement. Supposedly, he did a “head fake,” with the Iranians, setting up another negotiation appointment with them this weekend – sending in Wiskoff – leading them to believe nothing was happening with these negotiation sessions still ongoing. Apparently Trump had no intention to continue negations, saying now that the 60 days he gave the Iranians to participate in a deal had expired Wednesday. So, day 61 was when the strikes took place.
6 weeks of penicillin IV is a rigorous treatment! Your Dr is going all in to be sure your infection is gone. I guess we’ll all have to be gentle with you for the next month and a half. 💖
“Trump has been naive regarding Putin, XI, Iran, and North Korea.”
-This is not true.
There is ZERO naivete in speaking nicely about these dictators and countries. What is the cost to our nation? Should Trump go around being belligerent? To what end?
He gave Iran a 60 day window. Day 61 Israel pulled the trigger. The opposition country is naive if they believe they can string us along when our President is named Trump. Hopefully his successor will be just as “naive” as you think he is.

From Noltes Bb article:

I don’t think this is a fair statement, despite my foreign policy differences with Trump. And a disagreement in policy does not mean I consider Trump naive.
It seems like Bibi and Trump engaged in a ruse to make the Iranians think any attack was still some time away. Highly successful ruse.
That is not “naive”.
