It wasn’t missing. It was probably a contributing factor to the fact she felt self-entitled and arrogant and possibly it was a reason others were intimidated by her. If the instructor somehow viewed her as “privileged” it might have kept him from seizing the controls as he should have when she ignored the order to turn left.
I watch a show called ‘air disasters”. It is surprising how many accidents happen, especially in airlines from Asian countries, where the co-pilot realizes something is wrong but nonetheless defer to the captain’s (wrong) assessment because they have a cultural respect for the “authority figure”. This happened in the Korean Air Guam crash and the Aseana San Francisco crash and in the Taipei Singapore Airlines.crash where the plane attempted to take off from the wrong runway.

Not sure what is so complicated about the DEI discussion
a) Its about competency. Its not about gender, race, color, etc. Hire and promote the most competent people for the job regardless their gender, race, or color. If someone isn’t up to the task fire or demote the person regardless the gender, race, or color.
b) DEI is off the rails because a percentage or count of specific characteristics in potential employees like race, gender, color, etc., is predetermined in the hiring process so that better qualified employees are denied the job in favor of less qualified people because they check the boxes to get the predetermined count or percentage.
As such, DEI is NOT a victimless crime.

Contrary to Bitter, I don’t give a damm about the parent’s of this woman think. She was a helicopter pilot in the Army and there is a lot or risk associated with that. I certainly don’t respect their interference with the DOD to keep her name from being released, and I think anyone at the DOD who went along with that should be fired or court-martialed.

My issue is that it is assumed that this dead pilot was a DEI hire rather than somebody who volunteered to serve the U.S. and made horrible mistakes. I never supported DEI. I also reject any idea that a minority or woman is automatically DEI. Some are but it should be determined case by case.

Not concerned about polls. If you look back even Reagan had a 35% approval from Gallup in 1982 to 1983 and 41% approval from CBS during the same time period only to rebound when the economy rebounded. Regarding Trump calling these pollsters ‘fake polls’ don’t really care, however, I did notice in the CNN poll they calling that the percentage of people that want illegal immigrants deported has dropped from 65% to 55%. I do question that.

Bitter, it’s entirely reasonable to question hiring policies as to whether they were guided by merit vs an implementation of DEI mandates pushed under the Biden Administration. In fact, there was a law suit by air traffic controllers filed dealing with how they were passed over in being hired by someone less qualified but fitting in more with DEI perimeters.

The new, improved press room discussions, under Karoline Leavitt, is changing the quality and tone of those discussions. By adding more independent media, podcasters and subtracting some entitled fossils from the MSM, the dialogues and questions are more newsworthy and informative rather than simply gotcha ones to sensationalize evening news coverage. For me, listening to daily sessions more than balances out any questionable polling you hear on the legacy media.

So where does Bitter divine that ridiculous statement? From what I’ve read, Jan seems to be defending merit and not the criteria imposed by the Biden administration and left leaning states . Where has she excluded “all types of candidates” and “not only middle aged white makes”? As for the polls, three MSM polls taken during the height of the market break don’t alarm me just yet. The nasdaq has almost fully recovered and many stocks have recovered most of their declines (tech and materials among other sectors still hurting). I’d like to see some newer polling after the nasdaq market recovery before getting concerned. That being said, everything mentioned above about what Trump should do to improve his poll numbers is spot on. Congress can also help with passing a decent “big beautiful bill”.

Here is an example of DEI hiring from many years ago. I could name the community, and the state, but I won’t.
The fire chief needed to hire a new firefighter/EMS person. Several candidates applied and all had to pass a series of strength and fitness tests in order to stay in the running. Failure of any of these tests was an automatic out. All but one candidate passed all these tests. One candidate failed the strength test that required the candidate drag a hundred some pounds over a certain distance.
The candidate who failed the test got the job. The others did not.
The candidate who got the job was a woman.
It came out that the chief was determined to get the first woman in the fire dept. The tests were simply falsified to hide the fact that she failed.
DEI is not a victimless crime. Someday someone will die because this woman won’t be able to pull a victim away from a fire.

Chi…be fair to Bitter here….the difference is the woman in my anecdote failed the test and it came out the chief pushed to get the first woman and the tests were falsified. A clear example that Bitter would agree is wrong.
We don’t yet know enough about the helicopter pilot to know if they ran through stop signs due to DEI. It sort of looks that way to me, but we should wait for all the facts to come out.

Bitter has never heard of Asian people. You know, Japanese, Chinese, Pilipino and Koreans, who are passed over by other minorities that are less qualified due to DEI. What a racist liberal dolt. Bitter is also to dense to understand the macro implications of a non merit based hiring system, where even someone who may be of African descent will now lose out to another African based on non merit qualifications, such as looks, nepotism, and other basis that a competent attorney would understand. Additionally, the challenged lawyer certainly isn’t thinking about all the people, which includes minorities, women, and white people, who were killed on a plane because of an incompetent pilot. It all looks amazing, especially the architecture, tile work, statuary, stained glass, a 500 year old tree….She is with two other long time women friends, one who speaks fluent Spanish, which has made her adventure much easier. I think you are comparing apples and oranges.

I was listening to Dave Walsh, an energy guy, who said the blackout in Spain was manly due to their switch from durable energy sources (coal, LG) to more light weight ones (wind, solar) that were unpredictable. Texas has been attempting to do the same thing with its grid, resulting in being on the cusp of similar outages the last couple of summers. Also, Florida is going down this same road, encouraging more unreliable, environmentally endorsed energy to operate their grid. They say it’s less expensive, when in reality it will be more costly and inconvenient.

back in 1996 six children in a minivan in Illinois were killed by debris that fell off a truck. Language barrier is definitely an issue with truck drivers. We only have a small operation, but we see, easily, 5-10 drivers a week who can’t speak English.
Of course, the more troublesome problem are the ones who can’t back up their trailer into a dock door without needing help from a guide, not sure how they pass the test to get the license in the first place……and unfortunately that problem is magnified when they don’t speak English.
