BillW, jason and Bitterlaw, in all of their claptrap reflexively defending Roberts and ACB, never link to Alito’s dissent in the latest issue, and say where he is incorrect in what he writes, or go point by point in disputing what others (Volokh, ShipwreckedCrew) write in agreement with Alito.
I can understand jason not having anything substantive to say, that’s a given.
BillW seems to have gone down the path of call people names, like the llama-lover does.
But Bitterlaw and his constant reminder he went to law school – show your work, counselor.

The tariffs have effectively prevented the Iran hoax for now because of the economic chaos and political capital Trump is spending on this.
Last month launching the Iran hoax was a 50-50 proposition but Trump got overwhelmed by the chaos and launching iraq 2.0 was a bit too much for him
So the tariffs are actually working out very well for the US public at least so far

Re Hegseth. There was a concerted effort to prevent his confirmation. The Pentagon and National Security Establishment ran Joni Ernst out first to rally the GOP women Senators against him. Failed.
Then they tried the story of the alleged sexual assault in California — failed. Then they had Tom Tillis suggest he might oppose him, and they launched the ridiculous letter from his ex-sister-in-law claiming his ex-wife was physically afraid of him. Tillis caved at the last second when he knew it would get him primaried in 2026. Then, even after confirming him, a battle was fought over his most senior aides who needed confirmation.
Because that fight has now been lost, they have gone to their spit bucket carriers in the NYT, WaPo, and WSJ to amplify relatively meaningless issues into national security threats — to get Trump to fire him. The fear is that Hegseth doesn’t see massive and wildly expensive weapons systems and spending as the top overriding priority — increasing the present day lethality of the military is the priority, not weapons systems that might come online in 10 years or more. He hits them in the wallet.

Zzzzzz…….
I didn’t say anything about Alito’s dissent one way or the other. The way I read it his argument was that the issue should play out in the lower courts before it got to SCOTUS. It seemed to me many of the Cultists were anxious for these cases to get to SCOTUS quickly, but maybe that was before Alito’s dissent. I know the Cultists are very “flexible” on their principles.
Contrary to what many of the morons here are saying, SCOTUS is not saying illegals cannot be deported, there is a temporary ruling that will eventually be lifted once there is clarity on what kind of procedure/review/hearings, etc. will be required for these type of deportations.
I don’t have a problem with that.

I’ve seen many lawyers lacking basic skills, unable to draw proper inferences, unable to comprehend evidentiary value , and lacking the ability to understand cause and effect. They were worthless defending or prosecuting a case. Now, what they did have was a grasp of the Rules of procedure and other local jurisdictional practices, but otherwise worthless. On the other hand, I’ve known a number of non-lawyers excelling at all of those aforementioned skills, better than a trained attorney. The latest monster created by SCOTUS is Judge Charlotte Sweeney, a Biden appointee. After only 10 days of proceedings, one brief from the DOJ, and one hearing, Sweeney had seen enough to not only certify a class of potential Alien Enemies Act subjects in her Colorado jurisdiction but also enter a temporary restraining order.
But that’s not all. Emboldened by two SCOTUS rulings inhibiting the president’s exercise of the AEA, Sweeney just established new rules for the Trump adm to follow related to “due process” for suspected TdA members set for removal under the AEA. Sweeney: “[The Trump administration] shall provide a twenty-one (21) day notice to individuals detained pursuant to the Act and Proclamation. Such notice must state the government intends to remove individuals pursuant to the Act and Proclamation. It must also provide notice of a right to seek judicial review, and inform individuals they may consult an attorney regarding their detainment and the government’s intent to remove them. Such notice must be written in a language the individual understands.” And there is more!
