The hard part is that life sucked for most people until after WW2. I would choose 1990. It was the year I met my wife the day before we started classes in law school. I would keep my wife but drop out in order to get certified to teach high school history OR gone back to school to become a meteorologist.
“I think Bill Clinton was a great president,’” Trump said in the interview that was conducted shortly after the 2008 presidential election on NY1’s “Inside City Hall” program.
“You know, you look at the country then. The economy was doing great. Look at what happened during the Clinton years. I mean we had no war, the economy was doing great, everybody was happy. A lot of people hated him because they were jealous as hell,’” Trump said.
Asked about Hillary Clinton, Trump said: “I think she is going to go down at a minimum as a great senator.”
NYT: Kamala Harris, known for her deep knowledge and ability to articulate complex issues, is thinking about launching “an institute for policy and ideas.”

If I could bring my family and amenities and only be an observer, I’d love to hop around the old ancient civilizations. Ancient Sumer, Egypt, Canaan, China, Indus Valley, then moving over to the West with Carthage, Athens, Sparta, Pre-Columbian America.

🚨 MAJOR SEA CHANGE UNDER TRUMP: Amid Trump's tariffs, Republicans and Democrats *TIED* on "who cares more for needs of people like me?" because of huge gains with the working class by Trump.

No gimp suit for me Cliff. If I were president, I would have started with a 90-day period for negotiations and then brought the hammer down.
By doing it President Trump’s way, the entire world and their citizens got to experience the visceral impact of what massive tariffs would do to their businesses, their stock and bond markets, and their economies.
From
@realDonaldTrump
’s approach, we were able to learn who are the preferred trade partners and who are the problems, based on who showed up early and what they offered, and who chose to retaliate.
Every country is now incredibly motivated to make a deal with us as quickly as possible to avoid the draconian consequences they will experience with no deal.
China has been isolated as a bad actor and every American company is immediately moving their supply chains out of China back to the U.S. or to trading partners of the U.S. who are likely to make favorable tariff deals with the U.S.
Time is not China’s friend. As more time goes by, more companies find other and better alternative suppliers outside of China. So China is incentivized to come to the table soon and to be reasonable in their negotiations.
The countries that showed up first and offered zero tariffs will now be rewarded with more business, motivating them to complete their deals with us promptly.
All of the above was accomplished with only a few days of market turbulence.
I am not concerned with whether this was
@realDonaldTrump
’s plan from the beginning. I instead focus on the outcome.
Looking at the facts objectively, the only word that comes to my mind is ‘brilliant.’

I said to myself I won’t type on my phone while fishing today since a few months ago I dropped one overboard. However, that’s Amazing poll Tina. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, what a big turnaround for Ackman! This whole tariff episode is like a ping pong game – with the ball jumping from negative jitters to surprise over the “brilliance” of the byproducts of how the tariffs were orchestrated. Of course, all could change on a dime’s notice, but it’s still fascinating to watch.
My choice to go back into some decade of my life and live in those times, I would chose the 1980s.
Reagan recovery, America strong, financially much better off than before (yes that included the infamous 1st statewide teachers strike of which I was a regional leader), boys both growing and doing well in everything, youngest son not dealing with addiction issues he has been plaques with for 30 years, simpler times as the whackadoodle Muslims had not impacted America yet, teaching was still very enjoyable, great and memorable family vacations including 40 day trip across America, personal life much more satisfying…

Another better-than-expected inflation report. PPI declined 0.4% with core down 0.1%. Year/year final demand PPI 2.7%.

I thought the late 70’s sucked and the 80’s were great. The contrast between the two was enlightening to live through for me.
