Over at Dkos they are proposing a “blue country”. Free everything and even a blue army.”I

“I think when it comes to hurting blue state voters, governors are going to end paying federal taxes, increase state taxes and cover ALL of us in blue states on many things. Free college, full ROE rights, state healthcare, 20+ dollar minimum wage increase, permanent child tax credits, gun control, etc. etc. etc.

Even build it’s own military because we have a lot of personnel and equipment, and manufacturing in these states.

It would increase productivity, enthusiasm, huge profits, innovation, etc. etc. etc. and blue states would benefit huge from a healthier workforce. And that’s on top of all of the big money blue states have already!

Red states can’t afford to cover its people, especially if S.S. and Med. disappears. Blue states would be able to do a hell of a lot more for the public and the payoff would be tremendous. Plus WE can support democracies under attack like the Ukraine and Taiwan. Blue states can be a part of NATO!

And blue states can break off paying fed taxes if Governors declare an emergency. Even in states like Pennsylvania, Arizona, Kansas, Michigan, Wisconsin, Kentucky and North Carolina, even though they voted red, they all have democratic governors. They could break away too and chances are the public will support it now that they see what is happening in D.C.!

We could break off, build up our own infrastructures and if red states they want to be the United States again one day, it’s going to have to agree to very progressive terms. And who knows, maybe we can even kick the orange monster and his little weird friend out of D.C., who knows?”

  8. The great Victor David Hanson nails it again in “A reexamining of the North American paradigm “ –

“Mr. Obrador, the former president, said it was a beautiful thing that 40 million people, Mexicans, had come in illegally to the United States. 12 million or more came in during Joe Biden’s tenure. That was all done with the contrivance of Mexico.

Remember, Mexico looked at that open border as a win, win, win, win situation. Number one, in Frederick Jackson Turner’s theory of the safety valve, they thought that when people were dissatisfied and underserved in Mexico, especially Southern Mexicans who were indigenous and subject to a great deal of hostility and prejudice by Mexico City, they would go to El Norte rather than march on Mexico City. And they did.

Number two, they felt that they would form an expatriate community and that expatriate community, which as Mr. Obrador claims is 40 million people. I don’t know if it’s quite that large, but they’re a powerful force for the Mexican government’s point of view within the United States. There are 50 consulates that Mexico puts in the United States to develop that chauvinism and that pro-Mexican attitude among Americans, residents, and citizens.

Number three, the remittances, $63 billion come to Mexico and that money comes largely from illegal aliens, but more importantly, it comes from people receiving state, local, and federal subsidies. So you, the taxpayer, in terms of health subsidies, education subsidies, housing, food subsidies, are freeing up cash to send $63 billion back to Mexico. There’s another problem and that is the cartels.

They welcome in with the connivance or neglect of, I don’t know how you want to term it, of the Mexican government, Mexican fentanyl product shipped from China. So China sends raw fentanyl, factories that are controlled by the cartels, disguise that fentanyl and lace it in drugs that are recreational and that people take in the United States without knowing that the high they’re getting is coming from a cheaper fentanyl. And the result is 60 to a hundred thousand Americans are dying every year because of the cartels.

That is another issue that Trump wants to address. Add it all up. If you add $20 billion, at least that the cartels are profiting from American drug sales, as well as sending illegal aliens through coyotes and through guides into the United States who pay the cartel for illegal crossings, and you add that 20 billion to the 63 billion in remittances, and you add the 63 billion to the 175 billion in trade surplus, you’re looking at almost $260 billion of American cash that’s going to Mexico. And they all have that one thing in common.

They all share a degree of illegality. They are breaking trade agreements by reassembling Chinese products and running up a huge surplus. They are breaking immigration laws by exporting people here and then sending back cash, $63 billion worth in remittances.

And they are breaking drug laws and immigration laws through the cartels. Donald Trump, in this case, has far more cause to be angry with Mexico than he does with Canada. But what we’re witnessing in conclusion is a complete re-examination of the entire North American paradigm of three once close nations.

I want to add one thing. Mexico thinks that we’re not serious, but they should look at the recent Pew International poll. For the first time, 60% of Americans have an unfavorable view of Mexico.

And if they think that having Mexican nationals shut down American freeways and wave the flag of the country under no circumstances which they are willing to return to, why burning the flag under all circumstances, they want to stay, and that’s going to win back American public approval. It’s not. So if President Scheinbaum was wise, she would negotiate with Donald Trump, get that trade surplus from $175 down to $30 or $40 billion, stop all the fentanyl, help secure the border, look at the remittances, allow us to put a tax on 10 or 15%, and I think we would have cordial relations again.”

    read/watch the whole thing here – https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2025/03/14/victor_davis_hanson_were_witnessing_a_re-examination_of_the_entire_north_american_paradigm_of_3_once_close_nations.html

    The “great” VDH translated:

    Isolationist and protectionist garbage.

Isolating Mexico and Canada, instead of having free trade and integrated economies, in reality just pushes them into the European and Asian spheres of influence when in reality it would be in OUR interest to have them in OUR sphere of influence.

We are not just trying to isolate ourselves economically from the entire world, we are even trying to isolate ourselves in our hemisphere.

Our adversaries and competitors will say thank you very much.

And VDH is wrong. I am sure Mexico realizes that Trump is “serious” in making them an economic adversary instead of ally.

We suffer losing lots of stuff–including some of these:

You can lose your phone or wallet, passport, purse or keys.

You can lose your sense of humor, lose your train of thought,

Lose memory of where you have put lots of stuff you bought.

You can also lose a habit bad, or lose a friend so good,

Or lose some weight, lose your footing–just where you had stood.

You can lose your strength and then lose your grip.

Or lose all your inhibitions when excessive booze you sip.

You can lose face, or your hearing, or looks and beauty fair,

Can lose traction, or your temper, or even lose your hair.

You can also lose your patience or you can lose your sight,

Can lose some ground you gained, lose your battle or your fight.

Turn the clocks up? Lose an hour!–Just up and gone away!

Drink too much? You could lose part or–gasp!–a whole day!

You can lose hope, or lose contact, can lose the play’s plot.

Lose your marbles, lose your touch, lose your “in the line” spot.

You lose an argument, lose your dignity, or even lose your money,

Gamblers might lose their shirt or pants–now that is kinda funny!

You can lose your cool, composure, control, or your last chance,

Lose your girl or boy friend–and then lose the nice romance.

You can also lose consciousness and then might lose a day,

Can lose the sight of your goal, you might then lose your way.

You can lose someone tailing you, lose the pillow on your bed,

You can lose your zip or patience, or can lose your mind or head!

You can lose your hope or courage, can lose anxieties and fears,

Can lose yourself while helping others along your many years,

You can lose track of time when you do something you enjoy.

You might lose a step or lose your pep, or lose your guilt–oh boy!

You can lose sight of something, you can also lose face.

You can even lose your behind–ha, what a big disgrace!

Can lose interest, lose your identity, and of many things lose track.

The things we lose, where’d they go–did they fall into some crack?

I wonder if someone else finds the things that we lost?

Can we retrieve them for some fee, or monetary cost?

Do finders put their finds upon a lost and found big shelf?

Or is it “finders keepers” and they use them for themself?

You can lose your cares and worries, too.

The sad memories that made you blue.

Some things I have lost, I do not want back.

That is the honest truth. That’s a fact, Jack.
