I have been super busy lately and not as active here…and I haven’t been following the latest news, so someone I know says to me…did you see who was on the Epstein list that was released? I replied, no, I haven’t been following it.
The person tells me, “Oh Michelle Obama was on the list, as was Hillary Clinton, and Whoopi Goldberg!”
I say, “Really, was that confirmed?”
“Yes, I saw it on the internet.”
Full Stop. I knew immediately it was a hoax and the person I was talking to was easily taken in.
Quick google search and yes, it was something false someone started on social media.
So my question here..is there ANYONE truly important to politics who actually HAS been confirmed to have visited that island (which itself does not necessarily prove the person to be a pedophile)?

IMO, the European’s rhetoric is more bluster than reality. For instance, the US has supplied over 3 million rounds of ammunition versus the EU’s tally of one million. You might not know this, but tens of millions of people are invested in the stock market, including pension funds and retirees.
My point is that investors have a negative view, correctly so, of stupid tariffs and trade wars.
An increase in consumer prices and a stock market slump won’t help Trump’s popularity.
Trump will only have congressional support as long as congress views his policies as popular.
They will turn on him otherwise, we know that, they want to get re-elected.
In my view, stupid trade wars detract from Trump’s larger economic agenda of lower taxes, less regulation, pro-business policies.

Zelenskyy is said not to have expected a complete stop on funding and supplying armaments after his exhibit of bravado at the WH. He is now rowing back his attitude and being “nice and civil.”
A partial note to Trump from Zelenskky:

When a child is put on a “time out” for bad behavior, usually a parent gets something equivalent to “I hate you” back as a retort. No one, no country likes negative consequences, and the first impulse is to retaliate. That’s what is happening with these tariffs. It’s to be expected also that it’s going to be a rough ride over here until these countries finally come together to engage in fair trade agreements. Before this happens Trump’s popularity will take a dive.

We do not produce enough shells, missiles and bullets. I am sure the Europeans do not either.
We have not eliminated the Houthis because the Navy knows it will have to wait years to replenish its stores.
I think that we should be supplying the Ukrainians. If they are willing to fight, we should support them.
The world is heading towards a 1914 or a 1939 and our country and our friends are not ready. We are not prepared.
I hope that the reforms of the Defense Department are realistic about that and start making more shells, missiles and bullets.

Very true. President Trump is basically spending down some of that nice 54% approval rating in the hopes that his policies will generate an economic course correction. I don’t know if it will work, let alone before the midterms but I hope so. It reminds me of Reagan’s first term. He needed to take decisive action like cutting spending and giving volker the green light (don’t ever believe that the fed is independent) for even higher interest rates to break the back of inflation. It finally kicked in after his third year and he went on to an amazing second term victory. However, I believe the midterms were not good for him (maybe DW can confirm), resulting in more dem seats. We can only hope that Trump can see his policies of significant cost cutting and job repatriation due to tariffs result in this aircraft carrier of an economy starting to improve in years 2 and 3. On another note, this morning I picked up a few solid stocks I had an eye on for a while, since at these prices my reinvested yields should help ride out any extended downturn. That seemed to work for investors in the 70s facing extended stagflation .if things keep dropping I have a number of additional quality stocks with decent yields that I’ll pick up and ride out the storm.

For those in the Zelenskyy Cult, the fact Trump is treading diplomatically with Russia is because it is a super power whose manufacturing is ramped up on a war footing. Last year alone it produced 1500 tanks. It has a missile which can’t be engaged by any country’s defense systems. We, OTOH, have reduced our own armaments to where it is questionable if we could even defend Taiwan – disclosed by a general last year. IOW, Ukraine has become an angry child, defenseless on it’s own, but demanding a full Monty list of what it wants in belligerent terms, including dissing Russia for it’s transgressions as part of what it takes for Ukraine to cooperate with a peace agreement. It would be foolish, and dangerous to our national security, to heed such a political tantrum.
