I don’t think the Republican represents me any longer, so I left the party. It doesn’t mean I don’t think it might be a better alternative than the Democrats, that is why I voted a straight R ticket.
I view the R party currently as a populist party. I am not a populist, I am a conservative.
IMO, Trump is not a conservative, but I think a successful presidency advances the interests of the country.
Besides, I am very supportive of some of what Trump is doing. DOGE, war on wokeness and DEI, cleaning out federal agencies of leftist ideologues, drill baby drill, deregulation, tax cuts.
I am very opposed to stupid tariffs and trade wars and isolationist foreign policy ideas.
Interpreting those views as “wanting Trump to fail” is complete idiocy.
Jason says….Wait. Ukraine was independent before the invasion.
No sh!t…..
Chicon”
Yes, so how does “continuing independence” represent a “win”?
But let’s say that’s true, what is Russia “losing” in the negotiations exactly?
I am trying to understand your comment that all sides will win and lose a bit.
It appears to me Ukraine is losing 20% of its territory and suffering the destruction of its cities and towns and infrastructure and the displacement of 10 million of its citizens and the deaths, rape, exile, torture of hundreds of thousands more.
I want to understand what Russia is losing exactly in these negotiations.
I don’t see a REALISTIC path for Ukraine to get original borders back at this point. News reports Z acknowledges that, too.
So, the choices are give up some territory and keep independence, or keep on the current path and risk it all. The choice is Mr. Zelenskyy’s, not mine or yours.
So, the choices are give up some territory and keep independence, or keep on the current path and risk it all”
Sounds like giving up territory, currently over 20% of the country, and the people who live in them, is what you call a “win” for Ukraine. It also means no reparations for the cost of the war Russia imposed and no accounting for the war crimes committed.
Now explain what you see as Russia losing in the negotiations.
What’s the plan for driving Russia out of Ukraine? Since Bitter and Jason are against all ideas that might realistically get Russian sign-off, how do they plan to move forward with the war? I assume American troops are off the table for today. What weapon system or what amount of money will accomplish the goal? And how long will it take?
If you want American money and stuff, you need solid answers. “Whatever it takes” and “however long it takes” are not gonna get it done. American public opinion isn’t gonna keep funding the war without signs of success.
“So you would have been ok if Putin had seized all of Ukraine. Got it.”
Not at all. Didnt say that.
However, whether or not Putin seized all of Ukraine or not is definitely not worth spendings hundreds of billions of US dollars nor losing tens of thousands of human lives when it is not a vital interest of the USA for us to get involved it. Just like I wouldnt support the USA getting involved in war against China which kills untold numbers of unborn babies through force abortions, get involved in tribal wars in Africa when there are no USA interests involved but, at the same time, support 100% the US getting involved in defending Israel and defeating Hamas because that would be in the interest of the US.
50,000 votes for Trump in red state with a extremely low turnout of around 100K…it is not all that impressive for an almost incumbent when 49% of your party votes for someone else in what has become a SOLID red state.

Zzzz… neither of that happened. Aid was approximately 100 billion, a drop in the bucket compared to all the really wasted money out there.
You whine about the money because it worked, no other reason. It kept you hero and icon Putin from winning. Tough luck.
I have asked janzam for 2 years how much sovereign territory
Jason and Bitter ask questions they can then deride no matter the answer. Their interaction seems to be primarily based on tiresome cul de sac conversations ending up in name-calling and constant bickering.
Having said that Ukraine will probably lose the territory already occupied by Russia. Most of this area has Russia- speaking people. NATO will continue to be off the table for Ukraine. There may be some kind of DMZ established to offer security for Ukraine. And, Zelenskky will be out, if not by finally having elections, or by simply being pushed out. There was an earlier agreement in 2022 that was brushed aside by the UK and US which would have given Ukraine a far better outcome, all the way around. For those of you denying such an agreement put up or shut up.
When asked whether he intended to speak with US officials currently in Riyadh for discussions with Russia, Zelenskyy said he was unsure which US representatives would remain there. “To be frank, I’m not interested in it,” he added, speaking through a translator.
In a pointed remark about the United States’ unilateral decision to engage in direct negotiations with Russia without Ukraine in attendance, Zelenskyy noted that the talks had come as a surprise to his country.
Since Bitter and Jason are against all ideas that might realistically get Russian sign-off, how do they plan to move forward with the war? I assume American troops are off the table for today. What weapon system or what amount of money will accomplish the goal? And how long will it take?”
I am not opposed to ALL ideas that would get the Russians to sign off. I think a realistic goal would be to get the Russians to pull back from some of the areas they occupy that are not part of the disputed areas with pro-Russian sentiment and creation of a buffer zone with foreign peacekeepers. Any Ukrainians in Russian occupied areas would be allowed to sell their properties and move out if they wanted without hindrance, supervised by the UN or other agency. This is not a “win” however, it is still rewarding the Russians for invading.
But how would I pursue the war if that is the only option?
I would give another 100 billion in advanced weapons and exact a commitment from the EU to match it.
This would allow Ukraine to continue to strike deep into Russia and would weaken internal support for the war in Russia.
Eventually even Putin would not be able to justify the cost of the war in human and material terms.
Putin wants Ukraine because of economic reasons, the “we are all one people” is BS. He wants its mineral and agricultural wealth and the vassal population he can exploit to enrich Russia just like the USSR did with the Iron curtain countries.
If the cost is too high, it won’t be worth pursuing. So the West should make it extremely expensive for Putin to continue the war.
Also, Jason, stop harassing JeffP for a turnaround very similar to your’s revolving around Trump’s first run for the presidency. You were vicious about his candidacy. I don’t recall people reposting your earlier posts to continuously mock you. What a hypocrite you’re turning out to be, as well as copying other poster’s quips – calling Jeff a Trump whisperer after I called you a Reagan whisperer.
I was fine with Trump the first term until Covid and completely dissatisfied with him not using his Article 2 authority to do what he is doing now to the Administrative State. Millions of Ukrainians SPEAK Russian. Zelensky himself is a Russian speaking Ukrainian. This is true all over Ukraine, not just the Donbas. Russia ruled Ukraine for 70 years, not to mention there are ethnic Russians in Ukraine. Russia did everything it could under Communism to suppress the Ukrainian language.
But that doesn’t mean they all want to be part of Russia anymore than every Spanish speaking person in the US wants to be part of Mexico.

I doubt that this is accurate. I do not think there are 60 million people getting monthly SS checks who died 50 years ago.
I think it shows that the SS admin is very lax and haphazardly run by people who do not feel they need to do their job properly.

Convoluted garbage, talk about “misrepresentation”.
“If he succeeds, everything he does goes against your beliefs (your words, not mine).”
Yes, yours, I never said that.
You are confused.

I think it shows that the SS admin is very lax and haphazardly run by people who do not feel they need to do their job properly.
